@@JapanbyFoodyou said they are chewy! That’s super fresh in good broth! I’m excited to visit and I’ll definitely be trying them. You and sonny are my favorite people to experience food from different places
Shizuka, this is well done the way you articulate and very caring tone you have when talking owner or deconstructing every layer of the dish. I learn this each day the hard way - don’t forget to stay hydrated 😅 👍👍
Shizuka , Ellie ,and Estevan - you guys made it seem effortless despite the conditions of sweltering heat and humidity . The Korean cold noodles , naengmyeon , is a refreshing option too !
@@JapanbyFood Most definitely! Aiming for later this year (maybe), if not, around March 2024. I can't wait! I hope I see you filming somewhere in Japan.
Nagashi somen looks like a super fun experience! I'm planning on trying it in a couple months in Kyoto, but it's good to know there's a place that serves it in Tokyo! What a fun episode this is!
the foods look so tasty, I'd love to try them all, and the views and hidden entrances looks like loads of fun, I'd probably be one of those people that stay up and eat the shaved ice all night long
Love this episode! Would love to try the shaved ice and the hiyashi chuka soba. Episode idea: You guys should do an episode on non-Japanese foods that’s reinvented in japan. Such as Napolitan pasta and hambagu
I wish this video was made a month ago. I was in Japan a few weeks ago and needed these location badly! It's was hot and humid in Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo! But it didn't dampened my trip. Enjoy Japan, the people, culture and food!
Eating Nissin Ramen packet noodles, watching Shizuka san gorge on amazing food and watching Nadeshiko Japan thrashing the spanish team..life is good..❤
The Hiyashi Chuka Soba looked appetizing and also the owner made the soba look artistic! I was amazed the owner spoke Japanese very well. But you're a super trouper in handling the heat and humidity Shizuka! I remember when I was in Japan during the summer, I was taking a shower twice a day and drinking a lot of ice cold beer. Anyway kanpai!
Another amazing video. I didn't even know that some of these dishes existed and they all look delicious, especially the hiyashi chuka soba, can't wait to try it. my favorite has always been shaved ice.
Wow 1906 love long history places!!!! It really did have the Mt Fuji look!!!! 👍🏻 Korean place in GINZA looked good too!!!👍🏻 Never got into kakigori personally!! Sugar and ice Cool vid guys!!!! 😊
Dang! Great vid, only wish I saw it 5 days ago when i was in Japan. It was scorching hot. I'm from Hawaii and we have miserably hot summers as well, but not on Japan level misery. Anyway, all the dishes look oishii, and I'll try those next time. Aloha and ganbatte.
Thanks for the great video. However, there is an error in your explanation about chicken nanban. Chicken Nanban is not from the Kansai region, but from Kyushu region (Miyazaki prefecture). Also, you need to pour not only tartar mayonnaise on the fried chicken but also sweet vinegar called "Nanbanzu". (since this vinegar is the origin of the word "nanban" in "Chicken Nanban") And although the word nanban is an old word that refers to foreign countries, especially Portugal and the Netherlands, this dish is not of Portuguese origin. Nanbanzu (directly translated as "foreign vinegar") refers to a new sauce at that time that incorporated ingredients and cooking methods that did not exist in Japan more than 400 years ago, and is a sauce made by adding sugar and chili peppers to vinegar. If this dish is of Portuguese origin, then all dishes using tomatoes might be said to be of South American origin
I really haven't tried cold noodles because i'm afraid that the flavor will not be as intense as a hot ramen, but you changed my mind and i would love to try one. Thank you, Shizuka❤♥♥
The heat and humidity decimated my appetite for the month I was there, especially in Okinawa. I ended up veering towards conbini sandwiches because I just wasn't feeling in the mood for hot food.
Thank you for a delightful video. dude dropping the noodles down the bamboo! Hello, bowl at table!!! and the tilted snowcone just got me cracking, not sure maybe it was the blunt
My favorite for summer is also the the simplest. However, it may be a northern Japan thing: 生豆富 『Namadōfu』:: simply a wedge of Tofu topped with fresh finely minced Ginger then amply slathered in Shōyu or Tamari...
Another is fairly simple as well - have no idea what is called :: A fillet of Salmon descaled but skin on. splash of oil massaged about then placed under the broiler until lightly crispy. Covered in Ōroshi Daikon (a special kind of grated that is more of a pulp), then amply drizzled in Shōyu or Tamari.
Great episode! Wish it was posted about a month ago before I went 😩. It was funny when she blew on the cold Korean noodles as if they were hot initially. 😂
Once went to Okinawa in June. BIG MISTAKE! Temperature was in the high 80's F, but the HUMIDITY! Plus, no breeze but if there was a little breeze, it was warm! Resident told us June is not bad; August is the worst! Vowed I'd go back in a cooler month. Just went back in January; temperature in the low 50's. PERFECT!
Maybe eating a hot bowl of ramen has the same effect on your body as eating spicy Mexican food. It actually has a cooling effect. Well, I love both ramen and Mexican cuisine and will eat either no matter what the weather is.
Lol I find it funny how the man said there’s always a cloud over the mt. Fuji even on a clear day and the camera immediately pans to a picture of it and has no clouds over it😂
I weep because my chopstick skills aren't nearly good enough for most of the foods featured! This episode was a lot of fun. I sent the link to a friend who is currently in Tokyo.
To survive the summer in Japan, I'll indulge in delightful ice-creams and savor the taste of delicious fruits and salads. That would be refreshing. What have you done my Japan by Food friends? This episode feels a bit off-topic to me but I enjoyed it the same... 😲😉🍧🍨❄🍊🍍🍇🍐🍌🍉🍈🥗🥗
@@JapanbyFood hmmm, yeah,... so many people seem to really love Japan. I wish that I could as well but I'm always strangely sad when I have to come back every year. Soon I'll need to be here permantly but I can't let my relatives know my feelings,... it's ok.
Having those dishes in a "AC-room" , not convincing at all you "survive" because of those dishes. AC allows you to survive, not those dishes. Eat all those dishes in a non-AC room, and you don't sweat or pass out, then it's proved and you survive.
First time I've seen alcohol kakigori! I wish I could find a spot around me that can do that fluffy shaved ice but alas. Not to be. I do need to try some cold somen on a hot day. Definitely looks very refreshing! And I'm glad to hear you recommend Japan in the summer. I would love to see some of the matsuri! Thank you!
