40 years ago this area of Oslo was an industrial area and a dock for cargo ships etc This part of Oslo basically did not exist, it was closed off industrial stuff, now it is a new and modern part of Oslo. You would still recognize large parts of downtown Oslo though, it is like it was, but hopefully a little better.

It`s Norway. Its usually only "good weather" from may to September. Proper summer is from june to august. From October to April it`s not summer like you see it, lets put it like that. And from November to March it is dark and for the most part cold.

Most summers here have been not good in past 13 years. Few summers were okay, one summer was great, the rest was not good or bad. This summer was actually quite bad, rained a lot. Oslo is the rainiest capital out of all Northern Europe, including baltics etc... and quite by a lot, almost double rain fall in terms of mm. Oslo heat record is like 34.6c or 95f in 2018, and the coldest it has been -26c or -15f in 1941. Around oslo is actually warm in winter, because of oslo fjord, i only experienced -21c in last 13 years, and it was at night.

As a Welsh man living here in Norway I can confirm that area has gone down the route of strangeness with colour. The area in question is new redbrick or the ‘barcode project’ black and white buildings (which is actually pretty cool). Outside of this small part of Oslo I can also confirm that the country is full of colour, they love to paint their wooden houses, where I live 25km from Oslo everyone’s house is a different colour, think Tenby or Aberaeron. 👌but yes a bit of green space would’ve been great in the areas shown in the video but I guess the price of a square meter in Oslo overrides green space although they incorporate green space on top of new builds 🤷🏼‍♂️

Oslo is very varied in how it looks. Some areas are very colorful and green. But not sure why you think this area isn't very green. They walked around a beach area with grass, and you can see the green islands across the fjord, and green hills around. Those are also part of Oslo and you can hop on a ferry to go out to those islands any time you want. They have restaurants, summer houses beaches, places to BBQ. The area you see there is a dense downtown area. Consider how crazy it is that there are actually multiple beaches there. I have been to many cities around the world and never seen a beach downtown. Imagine a beach on Manhattan

Apparently the Norwegian pension fund as it stands at the moment with money accrued from the oil from the North Sea is now nearly $1.5 trillion.
