I think the answer to your question at 41:00 is that the opponent could cast negate through the tax, so he let you take it with the invasion. He has nothing else relevant happening so he was hoping to catch a burn spell or something like a fable then rip a boardwipe off the top.

You're very often better off forgetting a subtheme and just running busted staples. Imho LVD's deckbuilding is more realistic, although I do love CGB.

Ojutai soul of winter was my first ever mythic card. My principal saw me playing magic at lunch and took my cards and held them for the 3 years I was at that school and when I left he returned them to me, ojutai is still my favorite dragon in all of mtg history, jeskai dragons are so fun, big creatures and tiny annoying spells, exactly mine and many others favorite things about magic. Thank you cgb for keeping ojutai alive for me 😅

I think 5-color dragons is the way! Jund centrally, with Rivaz of the Claw and Tyvar to pump out and recast huge Shivan Devastators, Junjis, and Atsushis, with Ojutais and Riths to tie the dragon theme together :D

I really really think Ojutai + Invasion have a serious meta deck, but wondering if it's worth dropping alot of the other dragons. Devastator and Kiki-Jiki to fill curve, maybe some Ao, but maybe more spells from there

this feels like ojutai the deck, the card feels like goldspan, a pretty strong 5 drop the hand invasion feels pretty good and the buffed lighning strike seems good too the rest of the dragons don't feel that good though

So I'd probably replace Regent with Manaform Hellkite. You really rack up the damage quickly if you have the backside of Invasion of Tarkir on the battlefield, as even a 1/1 dragon will deal an extra two damage to any target

in game one, even if you went face with the play with fire you would have lost. Leaving Skrelv on the battlefield would have enabled the lifelink from the hive a turn faster and if you decided to use the invasion to kill the skrelv then you would have been down 4 more damage.

I think it being non legendary with a etb effect could be somewhat relevant with kiki, and between fable and moonveil it might be possible to get it down for just three mana at some point. I think it could get back quite a few things too a couple times

Fable of the Mirror breaker is still a good card, but I would hardly say it can copy the dragons. It only does non-legendary, which in this deck-list there are only 4 of, besides siege (shivan devastator will die when it gets copied, so he doesn't count). I won't say its a dead card, but its usage is extremely limited. I'm not up to speed on the current meta, but there might be better picks for that slot.

In all fairness, you're not playing fable for the copy effect. Even if all it makes is two 2/2s and double loots, you're happy. The treasure is icing on the cake. Kiki copy is icing on the icing. I can't think of a red value deck that doesn't want mirror breaker. Even a deck with no creatures would play it. It's that good. Because even then, you can copy the first tick's goblin token.

I'll always advocate for Rivaz of the Claw but yeah the value from Fable is pretty nuts and glues the deck together

@@TuberTugger While it is true that Fable is mainly played for chapter 1 with additional value from the other chapters, I'd argue in any grindy matchup that it's significantly less effective without enough things to copy from chapter 3. More of a Bo3 issue since the opponent gets more time to realize you don't have anything to copy with Kiki-Jiki except for other Fables and can prioritize removing it appropriately. The main question of course is can you make the deck better with something else or changing some of the other creatures into non-legends that are good with Kiki-Jiki.

I didn't ever say that you said the deck was perfect and was just agreeing with some of OP's concerns about there being enough good copy targets in the deck (which I do think is more to Fable's strength than just "icing on the icing").
