You can still have badges show in the App Library which has all the original app icons 🥰 (so if you’re on your Home Screen, keep swiping past all your screens til you get the App Library. I only have 2 screens, so after I swipe past that second screen, it brings up the App Library. If you don’t see any badges, go to notification settings and make sure you have it set to show badges in the App Library. It’s not ideal but until apple allows full customisation, it’s the best workaround
Is there anyway to do shortcuts and still have the notifications appear like showing us we have a missed notification? Like for example for the phone icon to show we have missed call? I tried using phone icons already premade, and I was frustrated that the notification would not show I had a miss call or a missed email.
I keep all the originals apps that I receive notifications on in one folder on main or second . And when a bubble pops up I know what to check 😊. Just a little work around so I can still have pretty icons I’ve snagged from Etsy.
@@Delis339going back into the shortcut and it’ll be the photo you used but the original app icon will be on the left if you name the shortcut the app name.

How do I only have one app? I changed it to the shortcut for Instagram and added it to my homescreen but now I have 2 instagrams .. how do I get rid of the other ??
you have to long press on the actual app and choose remove from home screen but NOT delete the app. this way the shortcut will work but you won’t have both icons on the home screen
For me it makes a duplicate, so it’s the original app and also the shortcuts version, but if I delete the original version it doesn’t work, how do I stop it so it just changes the icon not make duplicates
That’s just how Apple has set it up for iOS 17, but luckily with iOS 18 coming in a few months you can choose to not have a label beneath your app icons !
@Kleesbee, you definitely should be able to have no app names under your icons -- none of my iPhone icons have titles under them, they're just the icon images alone. I did this probably a few dozen times just today on my iPhone 13 Pro, so this capability definitely exists. In Shortcuts, after you tell it to 'Open (fill in your app of choice)', you click the Share button at the bottom of the screen, then select 'Add to Home Screen', and there will be a square icon at the top of the icon option page (looks like shortcuts icon but with a randomly chosen color). Remove the name FROM UNDER THAT ICON. I just backspace it until it says Title (don't put spaces, just delete whatever is there until it is empty) -- the word Title will not show up under your icon later, it just represents the name being empty. Then, below that, select the image option, choose you file or image, and click Add. It should then take you right to the Home Screen with your newly made custom icon, and there should be no name underneath it. Good luck!

I tried, but it keeps the original icon and doesn’t replace it so now I just have a duplicate of everything anyone experiencing the same issue? Or knows how to fix it?
I was about to ask the same, apparently it doesn't really replace the icon image, it just creates another one. What I did, was to delete the original from the home screen, but now I don't have those notification bubbles on the upper corner ☹
