Hey everyone! Today I'm sharing my opinion of this lovely set of pinks & violets. This brand is new to me, Van Gogh watercolors are made by Royal Talens. I bought this set myself. Scroll down for links and more info. Enjoy!

Royal Talens is a Dutch brand, and they offer 2 watercolor ranges. Their more traditional Rembrandt range, that is also vegan (except paints with the pigment PBk9), has a wide range of colors, and while I haven't tried it, I think I will in the future, as it is a major European (I'm in Europe) vegan artist grade range, there aren't so many of those (Lukas is another option I need to investigate)!
Van Gogh seems to be their Student grade (it is very affordable, but I haven't seen it called that) with a smaller color range, focusing on more affordable pigments (no cobalts for example). It offers a nice range of colors, and the prices are very competitive, pans and tubes. I will definitely consider these when I run out of shades like Quin Rose or Ultramarine blue.

It's so funny, the first thought I had when I saw this set in my local shop was, Irit would love this. 😊 Glad you bought it! The colours look lovely and inviting. I bought the dusk hues and the lavender, and I like them a lot.

Hi Irith, im from Holland were they make these colors, the van Gogh is the student line and the Rembrand is the professional line☺️ the Creator factory is Talens it's one of the Dutch best developer for art crafting stuff. I love the pink colors

I live in canada and we have these in a specialty art store! But only the tubes! Usually this store only sells high grade stuff but alot of proffesionals here actually prefer van goph over more exspensive brands!

I just bought this…so pretty. I’m not just a beginner but I couldn’t resist the pretty colors and most, I think are fairly lightfast. Now August 2022 on Amazon I paid about $24 USD. I’m having so much fun with it. I heard a lot of good things about Van Gogh and Rembrandt from Mandy van Goeije on YT. She is from The Netherlands and as you know, Royal Talens, who make Rembrandt and Van Gogh are located there. She knows a lot about both paints and says the while Van Gogh is technically a “lesser grade,” that many of the pigment colors are almost as good as Rembrandt..almost. (Sorry, I might have repeated myself about this on another of your videos.)

I am going to Blick tomorrow, so this was really great timing! I love your point about saving money for the more specialized pigments and getting the basics in a more affordable line like Van Gogh. I haven't tried this line yet, though every review I have seen gives it high marks. I have a few Daniel Smiths I'll be spending more $$ on tomorrow, but I plan to have a look at these too. I may have to hunt out that lavender! Love knowing that it is vegan too, because like you, I am. Thanks for the helpful reviews (the bright palette looks so fun (your previous video)!

I am a big fan of Daniel Smith watercolours( pricey), but after your review I picked up Carmine and quin purple blue( both single pigments) and also lavender. I love them all, so affordable, and so vibrant.

There is a rose coloured palette now and they retail it locally here in Germany, but that's pretty much basic colour plus two metallics, so just throwing it into the virtual room here ^^. I'd probably get the usual basic one (in fact I have that one) instead, since that cost less for what seems to be a similar range of colours... I'm usually not much into pinks, I'm more into blues, greens, and greys even though I use the whole range as needed, but I love the lavender and the dusk colours (let's my little experiment works out in that regard. If I can mix them with my watercolour pencil shavings, I got a range of well over 40 "dusk" colours :3)

I really love these curated sets! I have so many of the standard split primary 12 color sets, so it makes more sense to me to try out a new brand by getting a curated set of special colours instead.

Hi. Very nice watercolors. I do not buy sets anymore so just bought 6 single at Gerstaecker online. I bought dusk pink, dusk violet, permanent red violet, rose, quinacridone rose and lavender. I might re-buy the lavender.

I’ve seen tube sets by Van Gogh at DickBlick, but have only found their half pans at Artist & Craftsmen- the latter had empty palettes and you could choose your own colors, as well as sets. I haven’t seen these specialty sets though, but haven’t checked lately. I was in Pittsburgh in the US.

Where i live, a local store offers most if not all the pre made sets, but the tubes or singel half pans i have to get online

I just bought a set a couple days ago and let me tell you.... I had the hardest time picking out a set once I noticed that pink set hahaha. I wanted something that just gave me a good idea of what the paints were about cuz I couldn't figure out if they were student or professional even after reading their description. I just got a basic set and they are pretty nice for the price and the box is pretty cute, but watch out for that brush. The first time I rinsed it out it came apart and I had to fish around in cold dirty paint water to find the missing half because I use a large container of water to save trips never thinking I'd be hunting for brush carcasses one day. I'm getting that pink set hahaha

Haha pink for the win! My take on the Van Gogh range is that they have a limited color range compared to artist grade. They only use the cheaper pigments to keep the line accessible and affordable. Same pigments are also used in artist grade paints, usually series one. I really enjoy the Van Gogh Single pigment transparent paints, my current fave is carmine. Dusk pink and dusk yellow are lovely too. The range is perfect for beginners, kids or anyone that goes through a lot of paint and needs an affordable option.
