I was blown away that Intuit is shutting down Mint budgeting. Literally 4 MILLION users are getting kicked off. Their top-rated (4.8 stars!) app with over 700k reviews is being shut down. What the heck. So I thought, "Credit Karma must be really good!" It is NOT. The point of Credit Karma is to get you to sign up for credit cards and they just spam you.
Warning: Do NOT click "transfer to Credit Karma." This will immediately lock you out of your Mint account, effectively losing 5-10 years of data (in my case). I even contacted Mint tech support and Jesse said (case number 1529677217) said, "You're locked out." She (he?) refused to escalate the issue to a supervisor because, "They'll tell you the same thing." Shame on Intuit. Shame on Mint.
UPDATE: I found a work-around if you're locked out of Mint (because you clicked the "transfer to Credit Karma): Log into your Mint app on your phone IN AIRPLANE mode. Then click back in the months prior to find your completed budget. Simply screenshot these budgets to reference later when you're transferring to Monarch.
Now with that being said, this is a handy video tutorial on how to setup Monarch. It's actually pretty good. Granted it costs money (like $100/year last I checked), but if that keeps things stable and they don't dump me, then it's worth the cost.
Shoutout to @marykay for having a better rating than @intuit on BBB. Also thank you to @monarch_money for being there for us. (Hey @nerdwallet maybe consider allowing us to customize our categories and project out forecasts?)
