In this video, we're starting in the French part of Switzerland in St-Triphon. It's not a well known area and it's train station has been long closed, but it has a rail connection to one of Switzerland's two oil refineries.
We'll be travelling along Switzerland's largest lake (although part of it belongs to France), lake Geneva to Lausanne and then taking the Jura south foot line to Olten before continuing to the port of Birsfelden in Basel/ Muttenz. Said port is the hub for oil in Switzerland. Much of it enters via ship on the Rhein and is stored at the port and distributed around Switzerland. Our train today is an empty train returning to the port after delivering fuel to the refinery.

Thank you for providing both the technical specifications and the operational history of each line traveled on the trip. I was amazed to read that the old Sissach-Läufelfingen-Olten line wasn't electrified until 1953! I guess it shouldn't be surprising, though, as it had been downgraded in priority after the opening of Hauenstein Base Tunnel and was probably fortunate to not be shut down, let alone get amy kind of upgrade.

I start from a premise: I think they should give a medal to the mothers of Lorirocks, Paolo and all those who make these videos! They are spectacular videos. I discovered the channel thanks to the video Chiasso Cormaux, a cabride of almost 6 hours... speechless! Beautiful, wonderful! now the words are finished, the emotions you make us feel are infinite. I finally saw Lake Geneva from the Montreux side (also famous for the Deep Purple song). The line from Yverdon to Bienne up to Olten is beautiful, lines that I had already seen but it is always a pleasure to read all the notes and detailed captions. The marshaling yard of Basel is immense! Is it the largest in Switzerland? Or does Zurich surpass it? A multitude of Swiss locomotives are visible along the lines! I respect your work, because it must be difficult to find the information, make the video, edit and upload the video to RU-vid. It is not enough just to do it, but it must be done well! And you make them great... Lorirocks777's channel is like a starred restaurant with excellent dishes: few videos during the year but all rare pearls of immeasurable landscape and railway beauty.

Thanks. Almost, it was an Re 430, similar but with a different gear reduction allowing a top speed of 125 km/h instead of 140.

Goodness that was pleasent to watch (but not etirely, too long 😅). I drive (by car) at least twice a year Basel Genève and recognized so many places i pass by, even by car. Some bridges (especially in the area of Oensingen - Egerkingen) were known to me and of course the track Liestal - Birsfelden Hafen ^^. Lived for 9 years in Pratteln, how many times did we walk between Pratteln and Frenkendorf along your track and waved to the drivers! Cheers !

I've been to Switzerland at least a half dozen times but never near Basel which is the least looking Swiss major city I've seen due to the flat terrain, yet it intrigues due to your mentioning that it's the only Swiss city that has a river connection to coastline and open water. Two questions it must be a great distance to the ocean -about how far is it to the ocean and how long does it take on average? Sorry one other small question, it would seem Basel would have the largest freight yards in Switzerland is this valid on my part or I'm I wrong and how many freight yards does Basel have around it? That was really lovely! I find it interesting just how long it was before we saw anything resembling street shops though! Sure the train passed by a few large commercial warehouses or an out of town supermarket such but we were almost all the way through the entire country before we saw anything that looked like a shop that's just on the main street like a cafe or a small local grocery store or a shop or anything like that.

There was a lot of mileage added out of Lausanne through the yard, like getting out of bed to turn over. Dated in CORVID times hence lack of traffic and peoples.

If every wagon is able to, empty trains can go 120 and full trains are limited to 100. On certain sections, the speed is even less due to the reduced braking capacity.

Do the Swiss authorities do anything about the taggers? Has anyone been killed while defacing rail cars? When I lived in Switzerland it seemed the police were very strict on every last detail. Can't imagine they let kids damage rail property.

My friends have been doing this, you can't watch all the trains 24/7, it's really easy to tag actually. And almost all taggers get caught and pay fines, it's just that it's a part of our urban culture and we learn to deal with it. Nobody gets hurt anyway it's a funny game 🤙

Hallo wieder. Ich habe mir Google Maps angesehen und keinen Grund für die Erklärung gesehen, die sie mir gaben. Was ich zuvor gesagt hatte, war, dass der Zug direkt nach Bussigny hätte fahren können, ohne einen anderen Zug zu kreuzen. Jedenfalls verstehe ich es nicht. Wenn Sie sich herablassen, antworten Sie bitte. Ich werde warten, vielen Dank!

Eine weitere interessante Fahrt mit Euch. Danke für die Inhalte die Ihr bereitstellt. Ich habe Freude daran, mit Euch unterwegs zu sein, auch wenn es nicht "The real thing" ist, so ist es doch das Beste was ich aktuell bekommen kann. Danke Euch. Ich mag die Jura-Südfuss-Linie ganz gern. Bin die (allerdings auf der A1) unzählige Male zwischen Zürich und dem Seeland und Berner Jura gefahren. Eine Frage habe ich aber, die Ihr wahrscheinlich bereits irgendwo beantwortet habt, oder die ein Bähnler sicher weiss. Was um Himmels Willen bedeutet dieses mit der Zeit doch sehr nervige Beep, Beep, Beep Signal? Ich glaube das würde mich veranlassen, den Beruf zu wechseln. 😄 Nochmals danke und ich freue mich darauf, weitere Fahrten mit Euch zu machen. Allzeit gute Fahrt und bleibt gesund. Gruss Markus.

Hallo Markus, vielen Dank für deinen netten Kommentar! Das lange beep beep ist die Integra Zugsicherung. Das kommt nach dem Quittieren von restriktive Signalen. Das kurze und höhere beep beep ist die Sicherheitssteuerung, was mit dem Totmannpedal zusammenhängt. Danke für die Unterstützung! Liebe Grüsse

The low-profile speedometer inscription adds views. Low-profile. Almost invisible. That's right. A smart solution that doesn't spoil the picture. Very good. But it would be better if it wasn't there at all.

We are all so different. I love seeing the actual speed live. Can be discreet, in the corner, but definitely useful for me.
