I always had a bunch of random supplies tucked in random places, but I recently bought kitchen drawer organizers for my colored pencils. Worked UNBELIEVABLY well and now when I want to use them I can just pull the whole tray out!

I definitely recommend picture ledge shelves for all the little cups and jars of pens and brushes. They don’t stick out very far and they keep things easily accessible . You could maybe put one above your desk just past the point where it raises up. I got mine from ikea but I know they sell them everywhere.
@Lilstarnerd

ooooh very very good tip!!! i will definitely have to look into those because that sounds perfect to get rid of all the clutter and show off the supplies a bit more!

@@Lilstarnerd yes, it changed my space so much I swear it was one of those “how did I live before” moments. It gets all the jars and cups of brushes/pens/pencils and bottles of ink off of my surfaces and it looks really nice. And because it’s so shallow it doesn’t take up that much space. Also very affordable.

I have this habit of moving around my furniture every week. It keeps things fresh for my easily distracted mind and also I don’t have much trash piling up. Also I keep all my finished canvases and large pieces in a separate storage room.

I have the same "problem", when I organize something I have to take everything out at once, see the stuff, see the space, and only then can I organize it better then before!

I feel like around this time of the year people redo their studios and I absolutely love it, it gives me amazing ideas for mine! Plus I’ll be moving houses over the summer and I’ll be able to get redo a whole new room and a new art corner! I love these types of videos and i loved how it turned out so much!! 🥰

I feel you! My studio is so small and I even have to share it with another person, so my corner is very limited and it's always very messy! I like how you organized yours :D It's always nice and inspiring to see other artists' studio!

Spring is a great time to clean !! ✨(but yeah that ish is tiring lol) I remeber the last studio tour you posted was the first video I saw on your channel and I loved it. I'm also in the same boat with having to make do with a corner of my bedroom as my studio space in my parents house. I'm hoping for a separate studio space with a view of the water one day, a girl can dream...😊💖

For the cube shelves: you can use those cloth bins that are made for cube shelves, I use them for art supplies and I love it, because it doesn't feel as cluttered as it did w/out them. :>

i feel like u should move ur main desk to be a barrier between ur bed and ur studio (which will give u so much space since ur gonna have a whole empty wall) and u could just invest in a good big light instead of being forced to have ur desk somewhere just bc the good light is there. thats what i did at least:) and it gives u so much space its rly nice

lol, I was looking at your art on your wall and was like "Wow, she's very good," Then saw the painting on the easel and was like "JESUS SHE'S GOOD!" Awesome video by the way!

Late to your video, but I feel your pain. I'm in an ever-evolving state of Tetris too... Nail polish shelves (like in a nail salon- tons on Amazon), and a pegboard (like people use in a garage, not the IKEA that holds 2 things) really helped manage my studio mess. I put binder clips on my paints, and hung them on the pegboard, with other things. I keep brushes and tools I need on a lazy susan. A pizza rack holds canvases really well. I can't find how to organize markers.. :/

Okay I know this is an OLD video but the dollar store during back to school season, so mid july to september has TONS of useful organizers! It's amazing.

Get lifts for your bed to increase your under bed storage. Find an old cheapish dresser at like goodwill and take out the drawers. You can put the drawers on wheels and use it as accessible under bed storage . I use magazine organizers/holders stacked on top of each other to make "shelves" in my armoire and bookshelves and such. That way stuff that would normally just be stacked and hard to access is easier to get to. Look for those baskets that hang on shelves and create more storage. (Basically i look for anything that turns one larger "shelf" or "cubby" into multiple shelves by finding a way to utilize ALL the space inside it.) Looks great!
@KagomeMorino
@KagomeMorino Год назад
The square cube shelf I would have turned it. Also have you thought of using command hooks and hang some things? Peg boards maybe? Dollar tree makes them now but also ikea has really good peg boards. Also if you have a free plug there is an awesome light at ikea for under $20 that I love for my art set up. It’s adjustable too. That way you could move things around.

Honestly Adam Savage’s Tested is really a great resource for organization. I personally have never found the square shelves useful. I am a huge fan of open shelving with bins. Best of luck on your organizational journey!

another idea is to start with the easel in the corner facing on the diagonal and then move things to fit around it? Since you would like it not to be in the way al the time. Then you are not having to move it to access other things? Maybe the taller shelf closer to the bed? IDK?!

In the future, I highly recommend you measure stuff and use grid paper to help with furniture placement. As someone who constantly rearranges stuff this is really the only way. It's so easy to misjudge sizes and then you're moving heavy/bulky furniture over and over. I started a major home rearrange when covid hit and I only just recently finished. But man is it satisfying when stuff is organized and accessible and just happy. (I love Ross for storage options. I'm constantly redoing things. It makes me excited when I figure out a new system for storing stuff.

know you did this months ago and probably have moved things again but what about moving the cube to make an L with the desk of course 2 of the cubbies would be things you dont need to access often and the other two could either house markers facing the desk where you sit I know the Crafter's Companion SPECN-6 Spectrum Noir Marker Storage Trays, 6/Pack,Black will fit in a Ikea size cubby I think and I can stand several in the cube( probably not all you have but your most used and if you could hang the rest or as you said maybe a box with diagonal shelves that would fit groupings of markers that would fit in the cubby.) then move the tall shelf flat back against the desk wall ( covering the two back cubbies with things you dont use a lot. ) then maybe your easel could hover half in between the cubby and the other wall??( maybe i am imagining the space bigger too) Also putting wheels on your cubby ( we put a board on bottom and the attached wheels to it and we also put a larger wood top so I can also use it as a taller work surface. but I can wheel it out to access the cubbies at the back. But wheels would allow you to even move it by the bed or closet while you paint at the easel? There are drawers for some cubbies too which could help. but on a budget the L shape may help and keep things closer to you while at the desk and give you a little room to slide? just some thoughts. :)

Great job! I am a new subscriber came here to see someone doing a studio tour and enjoyed your process! I really feel for what you are struggling with as I have the same challenge. I wanted to see what was to the right of your desk, because it occurred to me another shelf might go there. You’ve probably already thought of that. By the way the art on your easel looked phenomenal! Thanks for the inspiration and I will give it my best shot tomorrow and at least clear everything out of the studio…

oil paint hard to work with?
@lune8533
@lune8533 2 года назад
It is kind of tricky but manageable if you have patience. Traditional vs water mixable oil paints, the drying time takes a while. It is fun to work with however imo, the drying time is the biggest gripe for me. If you feel like starting out I would siggest trying water mixable oils first as they don't require solvent to clean your brushes & the paints can be diluded with water. Just make sure to properly gesso/prep your canvas surface before you start! 😳 ♥️ I suggest you google around a bit beforehand.

No judgment here, but have you ever been evaluated for ADHD inattentive type? Your comments about out-of-sight, out-of-mind and how you are both physically and mentally exhausted by the organizing process made we wonder if you have an ADHD-wired brain. Yes, a lot if people have issues like this, but ADHD people especially struggle. (I am one, and it really helps to understand my issues as I try to organize.) Anyway, you have great energy and enthusiasm. Keep up the good work.

HAHAHAHAHAHHA thank you for the advice!!! i feel like black would me way more depressing, i like white becuase it's a blank slate so no matter how i want to decorate my room it will match. plus it makes the room feel bigger and lighter and cleaner. all of that is purposeful for my life as an artist. idky you're so mad that my room isn't decorated the way YOU like lmaoooo
