When you first start learning, an electronic drum kit will be just fine to play on. But you will want to play an acoustic drum kit eventually. If you had a choice I'd go with an acoustic kit as they will always be more realistic than electric but an electric kit will do the job if required.
@FaithIsAccidental Thanks mate. It's actually sixteenth notes (1+a etc.) and not triplets. You're right about it being hard to hear the difference at a fast tempo. Rob :)
Great lesson mate. In the 4th bar at the actual tempo, are you treating it as 1 & A, 2 & A, or triplets? I imagine it'd be hard to hear the difference at the higher tempo.
question: what's your opinion on drum lessons? I took lessons when i first started to learn the basics but now I can read music and can basically teach myself so I think it might be a big waste of money?
Just found your channel dude, really well put together, very very helpful. Could you show us how to play Stolckholm Syndrome by Blink at some point, that'd be awesome. Thanks again dude!
I think you've answered your own question then, although a good drum teacher will always find things to help you improve on. You're never "done" with learning. Well, I'm certainly not anyway. I'm always looking for new things to try!
Yeah, I'm left footed. But for some videos I play the "correct" way round with my right bass drum foot. Depends on how hard/fast the bass drum part is really :)
