The first plant I ever took care of was African violet. Made a plant lover of me. I never feel complete without at least one flower.

I’ve been a fruits and vegetables snob for the last 3 years. Mostly because of my bad luck with flowers. 😮 This year I’ve had more success. I even got 2 nasturtiums to germinate. So I did the logical thing and planted 5 more seeds. 😅 My hope is that I can layer my garden. Grow the flowers in narrow containers I’m using as flower pots, and put that on top of a flower pot growing tomatoes. I hope the nasturtiums have deep roots for the big but narrow containers. That’s my only concern.

@@ProjectDiaries I'm glad you said that. Planting in a bed I made so they'll be some what contained. Just planted English daisys Rose' and Leopard's Bane in that planter. Will these be a good combo one? What do you think. Also it's last years dirt so I'm hoping there isn't much left in the dirt nutrients. If I understood you correctly. I really liked the canary and the other exotic ones. Very cool! Loved this video and learned so much. Short, sweet and to the point. The coolest part and really a brilliant idea is the one's you planted in the see thru cup...duh. Really makes it easier to see how far along they are and best time to plant. I'm long winded but you were just so helpful. Thank You!

Still a bit early for us - further north - but I love nasturtiums; handy idea. I usually save them until the tired end of summer to get a bit of late colour. I stick the seeds in a pot that something else has been growing in but is fading. Varying results. Thanks for the tips and ideas.

Dude, I know this is an old video. I know this probably won't get seen. But, just in case it does I really like your vibe and presentation. I'm really picky about who's gardening videos I watch because so much can vary with area, climate, season, and a bunch of other things. But, you do a good job of keeping it about the plant. I appreciate it.

Fantastic video!! I really enjoyed the time lapse perspectives. I tried growing nasturtiums last year for the first time and I discovered some didnt germinate they just seemed to turn mouldy in the soil cups. This year I did the same thing and they are growing. Interesting to note it was seeds from last years packet that I tried to germinate this year and they actually did germinate and are growing no mold issue. Same exact process and everything . 🙏🏻🥰🇨🇦

In South-Africa they grow like weeds. I don't sow them. I only pull them out where I don't want them to grow. I leave a few plants in my vegetable garden. They are helpful to attract bees and I believe they help to keep aphids away from my beans.

Hey man, I've been watching your videos started from the video as to how to grow garlic and then when it came to this video, I got so inspired that I've ended up making all of them as you described except the punnet :). Can't wait to see more of your videos when planning to grow certain veggies and fruits. Keep up the good work :). Andrew

Thank you! I'm about to attempt to plant these as the first seeds I've ever planted in my life. I'm known to kill even cacti, so wish me luck!

Good tip on the polypropylene containers. I have known about that material being safe, they use it for special water pipes and such. Should have considered them as plant containers! As far as nasturtiums go, I just bought a 6 tray pack of little babies, but there is 2-3 in each little square! They are getting leggy about 5 inches tall and most have tiny little second sets of leaves forming. Are they ready to transplant? And do I need to take them apart from each other? The triplets are all really close together, I know I will have to untangle. Thank you!

"Compost" in the UK means potting soil in the US.

Good to know I'm not the only nasturtium fan! Beautiful plants, so easy to grow and there are some lovely varieties in your vid. I like to collect the seeds and plant them the following year. Do you happen to know much about this process? I've always assumed I should wait for the seeds to mature, they just come off in your fingers when they're ripe (or you'll find them on the ground next to the plant). But I was wondering if I can remove the seeds before this point (to encourage more flowers) - would they still germinate do you think? Or will only the ripened seeds germinate?
