A review on the very stylish HYOSUNG AQUILA GV125S V TWIN kindly loaned by ALL2WHEELERS poole dorset uk www.all2wheelers.com PLEASE LIKE SHARE AND SUBSCRIBE THANKS :)
You are a true motorcyclist by heart Mark! Your enthusiasm over this unique baby v-twin proves it. People ask me how can I get excited riding a Honda 110 scooter after riding big a adventure bike or liter sport bikes? I always give the same answer: If you’re a true motorcyclist by heart, you can! Cheers 🍻🍻
I've been wanting to buy this for a while, been worried I would be too short/tall for it, but to see somebody as the same height as me showing what they actually look like on it really helps, thank you 👍🏻
It's a nice little bike if you get past that misconception that anything non-Japanese is trash, it's rather powerful compared to other A1 license motorcycles so people might enjoy it a little bit more than a standard single cylinder 10 HP motorcycle. I would much rather get something like this than a Honda 125. Personally I had some experience with the A2 one, the GV300s that may be one of the better 300cc bikes out there, it's definitely one of the better A2 cruisers as it even beats the Honda Rebel 300 which has a single cylinder and just 25hp as opposed to GV300's 30HP and that is something not many bikes can say these days as manufacturers don't throw in a second cylinder on motorcycles anymore, especially ones that don't hit the upper limit of the A2 license. (both are enough for commuting, but 5 extra HP does put an even bigger smile on your face). Great review man!
That looks like a great bike and even though it has short service intervals everything looks easy to get at...even the valves/covers look easily accessible. If you're doing it yourself it'll be cheap to run I'd have thought. A vee twin 125👍...Nice one. Great review as always. Thanks for posting.
Nice review Mark, not a style of bike I would normally buy but this one seems well made and is appealing . I do like some of the 125cc that are currently on the market and would be great to have in my shed alongside my bigger bike. You can have great fun on these little machines. The big issue is that dealers in my area don’t tend to run 125cc bikes as demonstrators so it’s difficult to compare makes and models.
I have Timsun tires on my Mash Falcone 125 and they are good in all sorts of weather. We may not forget that a lot of tires are made in China even the well known brands. I did a lot of transport and import of that.
Fun review👍 You were fair not judging it for its capacity or make, taking it on face value. Although do wonder about the short service intervals. Interesting little bike.
Thanks ...yes most of these Asian bikes are short intervals ...it's not too expensive and it's a very simple DIY. If you want to once it's out of warranty anyway ...I suppose 125s are generally thrashed all the time Best regards mark
I had a Hyosung GT125cc. Was an amazing bike, sounded great with a Lextex exhaust on. That was a V-twin engine as well. Would be interesting to see what you think of that bike.
This is a very impressive bike, don't see two cylinders on a 125. I had a Honda CB 125 Twin in 1980 it produced 16.5 BHP, it was an amazing bike. I watched many of your reviews, don't see one on the Honda SH125i. Just over a year nearly done 20,000 miles. If you decide to review that bike I would be interested to hear your opinion! Mine seems to easily do 200 miles on its tiny tank.
Great review mark,u could get the Top manufactures for the same money, but they dont have a v twin engine in theres and it has the maximum horsepower the same has the others.so when u look at it like that, the hyosung is the better buy.
Love your reviews, very concise, cover everything I would ask. I'm deciding between the gv125 and zonte zt125 g1. Newcomer to the bike world at 57, Don't want to look too big for bike at 5ft 9.so find your reviews very helpful
@@jonroberts495 which one are you siding with Jon? Im torn between the Aquila and G1 also, I’m a cruiser guy so I naturally like the VTwin Aquila but then the Zontes G1 is the most learner friendly bike there is
Very good-looking bike. Great profile. 125s have certainly improved a lot since my teens when you could ride 250s before taking your test. I think the old ones were just as quick, though. No Euro nonsense on them strangling the performance. Another excellent video.
@@markpulling12 No booster plug. Six holes drilled in the airbox, a K&N air filter and a different size sprocket [I'll find out which one]. According to the last owner, it transforms the bike: gives it even more low-down shove which allows the taller gearing.
@@markpulling12 I got a reply from my bike's previous owner. The taller gearing, if you want it, was achieved by - 3 teeth on the rear, although the same result is achieved by + 1 on the front.
Mark if you compare the hyosung with the qj 300 bobber which is better quality ? The one is korean the other Chinese. Also compared to the hunder the 500 price difference worth the hyusung ?
Hi Mark. As always thanks for your thorough review. Not to judge your foreign accent (-_-) but, it is pronounce aquila like aqua. A Q U EE L A. Its Italian for Eagle. Once again cheers
Nice looking 125. Did someone in the design department forget to make make the seat a little bit longer. So that it reaches the petrol tank ?? Good review as always. Cheers.
Looks a great little bike. I've watched you review on this and on the zontes zt 125 u1, just wondered which one you felt had the best build quality and possible longevity?
Hi Paul they are both about the same build quality...ie excellent..the hyosung was more exquisite with its detailing.... reliability wise they are equal really..as long as you look after them .... cheers mark
lovely Lookin 125 good styling only one thing I was left wondering about was the gap from the front of the seat to the tank is that just a styling thing or is their a reason for it apart from that to me it's great . I f was to get a 125 for pooling around on that would be it . Cheers Mark good one : )
Out of Interest which do you think is the better bike out of this and the Zontes ZT125-C that you recently reviewed? Great videos and very helpful when looking for a new bike!
Hi the hyosung is more exquisite with it's v twin engine....but the zontes is better value with the same performance....id go for the zontes Cheers mark
Looks a beautiful bike but prefer the look of the older Aquila gv125 .. I’m new to motorbikes so there are 2 bike that you have reviewed that I’m interested in which is this one and your review of the Zontes ZT125-G1.. could you in your opinion tell me which is the better bike .. thanks
Hi Andy both are nice quality...the detailing on the hyosung is amazing with its v twin engine..I'd say the zontes is the one I'd go for because Its more my style...the gv is a cruiser ...but honestly there isn't much in it regards to being the better bike just depends on what you like the look of more ...the gv is a very low seat bike so if you are tall it may not fit you Good luck.....mark
Hi Mark, this was really enjoyable to watch. I grew up in Poole and lived there all my life until my wife and I moved to Yorkshire 4 years ago. A trip down memory lane watching you ride down to the Harbour and Baiter! I have one question, we just bought one of these after a 10 year break and it arrived yesterday. We can't seem to get the gears to show on the dash though? Any idea why?
Hi Adam if it's not showing then it may be a fault? It should always show up Is the bike new ...if so get the dealer to look at it for you ...sorry never heard of this problem before with gear indicators .. could just be a loose switch or something Cheers mark
@Mark Pulling thanks mate, it's nearly new. Just 1k on the clock. 71 plate. It's getting its first proper run today, my wife is taking it to work and back - 30 miles each way. I think she loves it so far.
Hi Steven ....I'll see if the dealer is getting one in ...if so then yes ...I'd be very interested in the 300 for that bit more power and cruising ability.. but they are still good value about £4.2 k
Hi Simon funny enough I was looking at both yesterday at Poole Moto...may well do reviews on those in the future but I'm sure they wouldn't be that dissimilar to the hyosung Best regards mark
@@markpulling12 Thanks, Mark. I've not been on a bike for almost 40 years and I'm doing my cbt next month. I love the look of the Aquila gv and the v cruise. I would love to hear the thoughts of someone who has ridden both. Your video was super helpful. Thank you👍
Not a fan of the looks but I don't like Harleys either, shame the seat and tank don't meet that's a bit strange but my biggest bug bear is the matt paint finish, who doesn't like polishing their tank, I know I do. Anyway if you only have an a1 I suppose it's a decent enough bike. Love your reviews even when I would not even consider buying the bike.
Currently torn between this bike and a Zontes g1, not the same style bikes but both a little something different. How to you think the two bike match up?
Hi Martyn well you've probably picked two of the nicest quality 125s. I've ever ridden...the g1 is brilliant but for me I'd probably go for the exquisite v2 of the Hyosung Cheers mark
@@markpulling12 thanks for the quick reply, just to tie you down a little, why would you choose Hyosung? I'm new to road bikes so any help would be great Cheers Martyn
Great wee bike. I would seriously consider the 300cc version but this shares the same frame which is far too small for 6'4'' me 😭 Other manufacturers do the same with their 2500cc/400cc bikes.😭😭😭😭😭
First impression from this video: the engine and whole bike looks big, so why bother with a twin for such a small displacement? It does not go much faster than the Sinnis 125.
Looks good and solid! To me though 125's are (were) 2 stroke and they had 25 to 30hp like the Cagiva C12R i have. It's on my channel if you want to take a peek 😉
Hi no not at all...no probs with the gentleman's area :) I was told it was to copy the style of Harleys apparently some of those have like a gap there Cheers mark
@@markpulling12 Some seats for the Harley Davidson Sportster 883 Iron make some kind of gap over there, so that's where the inspiration comes from indeed.
2,500 mile service intervals. To me, that is one of the biggest problems with Chinese bikes, low service intervals. To someone that uses their bike every day, or most days, they could quite easily be servicing it every 2 months ( about 40 - 45 mile per day - 20 miles each way to work and back - which could easily happen ) I realise that might only mean changing the oil and filter, but still. Not your fault, I realise, Mark, but a 125 Japanese bike would, more than likely have a much longer service interval, and wouldn't be that much more to buy than this bike.
Thanks for the feedback Geoff ...I guess with this bike in particular you're buying something quite exclusive ,it's not really your run of the mill 125 , service I understand ,but eventually I'd just do it myself it's so simple best regards mark
@@markpulling12 Yes, I guess so. I just checked the service interval on a Honda CB125 ( different sort of bike, I know ) It was 8,000klms, just shy of 5,000 miles. Not as much as I thought it would be. I suppose, 125cc bikes get thrashed everywhere, have less oil in them than larger bikes and, therefore, need more regular oil changes.
@@markpulling12 Hyosung always seem to make a mid weight bike and then do a 125 version that’s the same but the engine so they are usually too heavy/big for their power.
So disappointed that hyosung went the bobber look. So much smaller than its predecessors. I have a 2016 model and it has that big bike feel. Was about to buy this 2021 model today and was shocked at how much smaller it is 🥺 feels like a 125 now. Shame
Looks fine if that’s your cup of tea, but for that amount of money I personally would buy good second hand Japanese, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha. My main reason is depreciation, horrendous losses on any new bike but much worse on this, the quality of engineering, and materials used are not of the standard I require or expect, this is one of the better alternatives being Korean as they have made some effort to use better quality metals but it’s well overpriced for what it is. These are just my opinions but it’s founded on nearly 50 years of riding motorcycle’s, There are other brands I’ve had experience with such as BMW but whilst at risk of ruffling more feathers I would say BMW lost their high standards of engineering and finishing about 20 years ago. This would be ok second hand, much reduced but at the asking price it’s just not a good deal
