Do you have a rough sketchbook as well? Can we have a tour of one of them? I really like seeing an artist's thought and development process, but I get that it can be more personal because of that.
i do, although it really wouldn't be interesting for a tour! lots of random notes, lists, math, and stuff cut out that gets taped into my real sketchbook hahahaha
I'm so excited for your DTIYS! I've been meaning to do one again for a while, and it's so gorgeous I just have to try! I also totally understand that it's so rough to come up with not only original ideas, but original compositions, lighting, color palette, etc. I've been reading anthology books lately (it's just easier for my lil ADHD brain that way), and one I want to draw from one day and one you might like (just based on you being lilstarnerd lol) is Dance of the Comets: An Astral Pantomime in Two Acts by Paul Scheerbart! It was originally written in the early 1900's to be part of a ballet, but also has very clear descriptions of costumes and movement for each character of the 'cast' and beautiful celestial imagery. Which I like that it does some of the brainstorming work for me, but still leaves a lot of room for interpretation!
I had a lot of fun participating in this! It really helped me with my style and it was just fun to watch this first thing in the morning to get my creative mind working! Great video! 🎨💖
Amazing! So excited to try this and hopefully participate in the DTIYS. Also so bummed because I literally ordered a new strathmore LAST NIGHT totally forgetting you had an affiliate link and if I’d remembered I would’ve gotten the larger size instead of getting another one of the smaller! It’s ok - next time!!
I absolutely LOVE the composition!!!! I absolutely love compositions that are off center they're so interesting! Also, the way you did the comp really leads the viewer through the painting 😊
Wow, the lighting on the skin tone and clothing is so well done! I am in love with the vibe of that colored pencil texture too. I'd definitely try to participate if my IG hadn't been hacked 😭... alas. Anyway, you've inspired me to conquer the first page my new sketchbook, so thank you for that!
Eek I love this piece so much! I might try this as my first Draw this in your style (I definitely don't have an own style yet so it feels weird to participate in these. But I do see how I can make this "mine" and that's very exciting!!)
omg yay that makes me so happy!!! i totally feel you!! back when i did my first few dtiys's, i feel like it kind of helped me identify my own style in some ways!!
When I saw this drawing on my instagram feed, I knew I had to participate. I'm so excited! :D So cool that this is the first drawing in your new sketchbook! Always love your videos.
I’m hoping to Participate in this! I’m so busy and I haven’t been able to create as much art as I would like so this is the perfect opportunity. I love your channel so much 🥰
Oof, I haven't posted on social media in a few years but maybe it's time I get back to it! The dtiys would be cool to recreate and I think I will have a lot of fun with it! 🤸 I agree with the struggles of originality. I constantly feel like I can't draw if I don't have a reference in front of me. Anatomy is not fun to try and remember instantly 🥲
