_"Why is it, I wonder? Ever since that day, the world remains unchanged. Within the flow of time, which keeps moving forward. There I will find you, once more. Hey, tell me... in the real world, will we manage to laugh?"_ - Shinei "Undertaker" Nouzen.
This anime is a whole lot to take in. A life where you are either safe for eternity or thrown out like a dog fighting for something that people dont give a damn about. Its suicide or not. Knowing that your orders have a number showing your survival rate is 0%. Knowing that you will die is hard to look at. Or being left behind as a echo is even scarier. And knowing that a group has a high fatality rate is almost impossible to avoid. But seeing it physically is even more hard. Having people from your squadron get torn apart not even 4 months of the war when you enlisted starting in a group of 50 now get cut down to 5 people is not right. And it feels empty. All the fun times you had and all the sad times you had are just nothing but gray scales. And everything you did in the end wouldnt change anything. And everything you did was a sacrifice that nobody cared about.
Which means the message of the anime is to live mindful and without regrets, accept and enjoy and respect eachother on a individual level, the writers of this anime are amazing in portraying the value of living in the "now" the anime touches a lot on culture and racism and how these fundamentally don't make sense, this anime is truly about "if we are cut we bleed the same" you'll see these parts very strongly when the female protagonist points out the weaknesses in their society and her "best" friend.
And then the anime delves into more themes: you're prepared to die but then unexpectedly survive. Those remaining 5 child soldiers were given a gift unlike their fallen comrades: a future. Now how will they deal with this, with some of them having survivor's guilt? Instead of finding an excuse to die, they gotta find a reason to live. In a new country, instead of receiving racial discrimination, they receive unsolicited pity with their label as an "Eighty-Six". 86 has so many themes both subtle and direct.
yes. this is the closest and best I've heard. dunno why people prefer animenz'. it's also good, ofc. but IMHO, this one is definitely better. not overdone, just the proper amount of emotions and notes put into this masterpiece.
@@jezreelesguerra7213 many people prefer animenz version over this is because yknow, preferences (if I had to guess, it's about the difficulty). Personally, I prefer the verse in this one, and chorus part in animenz ver, animenz' arrangement has more impact into the chorus which is what I prefer.
Been reading the books and watched the anime. It's been such a long time since I've found myself enthralled and invested in a series. The story, circumstances and characters are incredibly believable as sad as that may be. The musical score for the anime was just the icing on the cake. Very well done!
Of all the arrangements I’ve heard of this song, yours captures perfectly what the original one was trying to convey. This is by far the best one even over Animenz and it is the one I will be learning for myself. Thanks for this!
i agree it is the best avid cover on youtube, but animenz's arrangement is for a different song, so i don't think you can compare them voices of the chord is the orchestral(ish) counterpart to this song, but if you listen, they don't have the same mood

Has an OP/ED of an anime actually made you watch the anime? Yes, this one! I heard the song, loved it, looked it up and watched the series in 2 days xD. It's amazing, just as much as your covers! Thanks for sharing!
I haven't been keeping up with the new season that much lately because I've been so busy. But listening to this reminds me of how much I enjoyed the show. I really need to get back to watching it
Lena immediately felt a chill. The positioning of the Löwe was a little strange. That enemy unit should not be there, given where the other enemy units were positioned. There was no way that a single unit could provide cover for the surrounding units. She frantically identified where Kirschblüte was headed, a clearly marked area on the map of the battlezone, which the latter would not know, a certain thing that seemed to be covered- *"Do not go there! Kirschblüte!"* *"Eh?"* But it was too late to stop her. The blip indicating the position of the Kirschblüte came to an unnatural halt on the radar. *"…What? A wetland…!?"* Kaie shook hard due to inertia as her unit came to a rattling halt, groaning. Based on the screen, it appeared that the two front legs of her unit were sunk deep into the ground, she realized however that she was standing on wetlands, which only resembled grasslands due to the dark forest. This was a death trap for a "Juggernaut," for the pressure its legs exert onto the ground was huge. Anyway, I should retreat from here as soon as possible. So Kaie thought as she held her joysticks- *"Kirschblüte! Get out of there!"* She lifted her head upon Shin's warning. The optical sensors of the Kirschblüte drifted upwards along with her eyes. Before her eyes was a Löwe. *"…Ah."* The distance between the two was at the bare minimum, and the Löwe swung its front legs. Viciously. The spinning gears moved the joints, no matter how the prey under its feet whimpered. *"No."* Her voice was feeble, like a child on the verge of crying. *"I don't want to die."* 3:20

I was impressed by the wonderful piano performance. Is it possible to use the sound source on my RU-vid channel? I'm a 16 year old Japanese girl and I love drawing illustrations. I made a RU-vid channel of illustrations for the first time. I love 86 anime and drew Millise. I want to play Mr. Yu-Lun Chou's piano performance along with the illustration. Thank you.
