I totally agree, but in this video, the shield of the ion smoke detector sensor was damaged and it emitted too much radiation..

You throw something that has just 1 uSv/h on surface? I have multiple Uranium containing rocks and my strongest one can do 1 uSv/h at a distance of 30 cm.

Just because it emits radiation doesn't make it dangerous man, the radiation source is very weak and you didn't need to throw that smoke detector away
