Letting people do their own thing. Holding back and not allowing any distractions. Chilling out as Nd focusing on myself. Others need to tidy up whatever their confusion is. Trouble is he DID mean to hurt me. He deliberately went into an affair with my friend. Ex friend I should say. She told.me.just shortly after his funeral. However, I do forgive.him and I've told.him that I have.

All your explanations are correct. Someone was rude and judgmental - not a good way to treat a friend. Became clear they are in early stage of dementia. Compassion, caring - and sadly aware there is no ongoing normal relationship possible. Only a kind but superficial connection can work. They will never understand.
