OK SO The little sequence with the book sheets and the theather masks. The phrase on that sash is "Le temps viendra Je anne Boleyn" wich means "the time will come, Anne Boleyn". Anne Boleyn herself actually wrote this in one of her Hour Books (religious book sort of), and this phrase got really famous. Is that why there's some book sheets? And maybe the theather masks above them can mean that she puts fun above religion? I'm probably reading into this way too much lmao

I like how King Henry is made much bigger than Anne in almost all of the scenes he appears in, showcasing his power over her and how little she can do in comparison, except for when we first see him in the window of the castle, since that's before Anne really knows him well.

Interestingly, just before Anne died, she sent Lady Kingston to speak to Mary (though by the time she arrived, Anne was dead). Kingston apparently begged for Mary’s forgiveness on Anne’s behalf, begging forgiveness for her cruelty to Mary and that it had been motivated out of insecurity and to protect Elizabeth. Within the message was a clear clause: Anne wanted Mary to look after Elizabeth now that she was gone. It is left unclear whether Mary forgave Anne, or indeed how sincere this message was. What we do know though is that Mary clearly took care of Elizabeth and Bore her little ill will. Even at the very end with Elizabeth in the tower, I still think Mary loved Elizabeth.

I GENUINELY love how Anne’s hair seems messier with every event that happens, gives the character a different taste and in my point of view it could be a representation of how Anne knows the situation in general is getting worse than she expected, great job sis!
@lexiatethat
@lexiatethat 2 года назад
YESS And then when she’s standing on top of the church, her hair is fixed again, since at that time she had control over what was happening. But immediately after the church collapsed, her hair got messy again because Henry finally had full control over her then (they were about to get married, there was nothing Anne could do). So, I think her hair could *also* be linked how much control she had over her life at the time.

BRUH I love how you depicted Anne in this animatic because in other animatics she was portrayed more as cocky and snobby, meanwhile in this she was much more sympathetic with others around her and aware of how her actions have hurt others, but like other animatics she still presented herself as confident in front of them, like patting Mary in the head mockingly and then having a guilty expression afterwards, her wanting to reach out to Catherine but then changing her mind, even if just a few seconds ago she was deadass dragging her and downright insulting her, and at the part where she says "make up your mind" she puts out a candle implying one of them is gonna have to pack their bags and leave, like at the scene where Catherine's crying, when Anne was peaking through the door to the right shows a candle that's been put out, symbolizing that she's the one who lost, and right next to the candle is a piece of paper with Catherine's initials, assuming it's divorce papers. Anne is clearly upset with the amount of people she hurt along the way to become queen, if you look at the scenes of the chorus you can clearly see her more and more... i dunno how to put this, I guess, unstable? because in the first chorus she was proud and sure of herself, and at the second she looked more regretful but trying hard to convince herself everything's fine, and then you skip to a few scenes which shows her on top of the church which gives her a sense of power and dominance over how much she can change the rules all because henry was her bitch, but a few seconds later that all crashes down as she was later seen as small and helpless compared to henry during the argument and we get to see more of her vulnerablity, and as an act of self defense she does what she always did at handling situations, insulted him to his fucking face which inevitably becomes her demise, and we get to see more of her being defensless the parts after that, the scene after shows her falling, which is a huge contrast to her being on top of the Catholic church symbolizing her downfall, and during it she's seen with a piece of paper saying "O death rock me asleep" in reference of the poem she wrote before her execution, and in the distance you see a much older version of Mary smirking at her, and right beside her is a child [ i'm guessing Elizabeth ] reaches her hand out to her to help but in no way are they close enough to do that, they were literally so much feet apart and not to mention Elizabeth was behind bars so she really couldn't do anything in that situation, and what's sad is that Anne reaches out to her, because Elizabeth is the only one she could, this parallels the scenes when she tried to reach out to both Mary and Catherine but decided not to [ holy fuck nuggets I just noticed that while typing this ] but of course it was too late and it ends with her getting decapitated right in front of the eyes of her own child, man what a yikes on Elizabeth's part... 👁👄👁💧 EDIT: i've edited this comment so many times because I keep finding more details I didn't notice beforehand, good job on that! 💖💖💖💘💘💘

I hate to be that person but... Anne was never a mistress. That was her sister. She constantly refused Henry’s advanced and even moved out of the royal court in order to get away from him. On top of that, while Henry was flirting with Anne, she was in love with a man named Henry Piercy I believe. They wanted to get engaged but both families called it off. Especially Anne’s after realizing the king was making advances towards her. She didn’t willingly choose to ruin the marriage, Henry wanted her. Plus, Catherine and Henry’s marriage was already on a slow decline before Anne came into the picture. But my point is she wasn’t a mistress or a home wrecker. She tried to get away but couldn’t.

@faithcatalan6479 2 года назад
@@Ayaniiartz it's true actually. It was proved in the early 1900's that heads would react to their names almost up to 30 seconds after death, but was proven years later to only be viable for about 10-15 seconds. If I remember correctly, it was proven using a brain scan (EEG). the difference though is the numbers from early 1900's were from actual human executions, while the more current research was done using animals. The scariest part is that before guillotines were used, executions were done by either a swing of a sword or axe; due to these methods being reliant on a humans strength, most of the time the victim would NOT be fully decapitated by the first swing. this often meant the person wouldn't die right away, and would have to have their necks hacked away. In executions, you would need to be very lucky to get an executioner strong enough to deal a solid killing blow, and a weapon sharp enough to completely sever the spinal cord without sliding around.

for all the people who got surprised by Mary smiling at Anne's execution, as you many know that Mary hated her a lot because thanks to her presence, Catherine of Aragon was suffering by the disrespect and humiliating that Henry was making her feel, there was source that Henry obligated Catherine to leave the castle, so pretty much Mary was having a rough time because of it. Anne did tried to be a stepmother to her but Mary was having a lot of resentments that she was ruining her life, it was heard that in the execution of Anne Bolyen, Mary was genuinely satisfied by it.

Irl it wasn't quite like that, I invite you to watch The Tudors since aside from the weirdly revealing apparel it did quite stick to reality. Anne told Mary she'd reconcile her with Henry and likely invited her back to court "if only" she accepted her as queen which sounds fantastic and sweet in retrospect but honestly- it was like Mary could just say "okay, you're queen NOW, I accept". No, Mary had to agree to sign Henry being head of the church in England which since she was a catholic to the bone would damn her eternal soul, she'd have to sign to agree to her parents marriage NEVER being valid which would make her a bastard and her mother a whore. I don't blame Mary for "not liking" her as it wasn't that simple. I mean she was friendly to every other wife, even Catherine Parr who was a known protestant and Mary would have considered her a heretic. I mean honestly Anne could have been kinder to Mary but things are way said and done by this point.

holy god, you've really outdone yourself with this one, kait. 0:00 this is the perfect intro, really sets up the mood, immediately tells us that anne is a lively and upbeat girl - making the moments of fear even more heart-wrenching. 0:08 i really love this transition, something about it makes me go :)) 0:42 the addition of greensleeves is a very nice historical reference. i’m sure there are many more scattered throughout the animatic, but unfortunately history is not my forte. 0:52 ohh, how creative it is to have what must be maids/servants/peasants following anne around, berating her for every move. a symbol for her own inner insecurities, though i may be looking too far in. anyhow, this is such a fresh and original portrayal of the ensemble, and i am legally obligated appreciate it. 0:56 you added catherine! wonderful detail. the way you both draw them exactly as they are - two tired women caught up in a messy situation. wonderful. the “get a life!” line, with anne’s hands on her face adds a deeper level of emotion to the song. gone is the tired idea that anne was brash and brazen in her attitudes towards catherine, and in arrives the exciting perspective that anne is ashamed of this - she’s painfully aware of how awkward and weird things are. she is, after all, the woman catherine’s husband is cheating on her with. 0:57 one of the ghostly/imagined maidens is looking despaired, rather than angry. inner thoughts of anne? 0:59 the emotion on her face kills me every time. 1:02 her fingers are crossed at “not sorry,” further supporting the idea that anne knows what’s she’s doing, and she’s not overjoyed about it. 1:11 anne notices the way she upsets the kid, and feels bad about it, before immediately trying to brush it off. you really don’t settle for one dimensional characters, do you? you just have to make everything messy and complicated and utterly _realistic._ thank you, for that. 1:42 when you present characters as sleep-deprived and tired, they appear so much more vulnerable. you seem to know that well, and used here it’s extremely effective - we feel so _bad_ for catherine. the contrast between the “no way catherine” and the “now catherine” is so painfully stark. 1:58 her hair gets progressively messier, perhaps symbolising the messiness of the situation? or maybe a metaphor for her growing despair? 2:09 oh god, poor catherine. this shot is one of the most powerful in the animatic - the way catherine’s face is obscured, the way anne’s hand twitches, as if she’s itching to comfort her, despite knowing that her very presence will only make it worse. 2:20 anne is trying to convince herself she’s not sorry, but the steady and unfailing truth lies in front of her - she does in fact feel remorse, and a lot of it too. 2:40 anne being on top of the church may be a symbol for her feeling on top of the world when henry puts in all the effort just to marry her? it must feel flattering, right, to be so wanted that a man is willing to go against millennium-old social norms? 2:52 the addition of the child. it reminds us of stark reality, a harsh contrast to the previous dreamy wedding shots. 3:04 and 3:08 really emphasise anne’s vulnerability - for all her bravado, she really is just a young mother trying to navigate an unsteady marriage. 3:16 and the maidens return, coupled with the impossible smallness of anne’s “uh oh.” no longer are they angry, they seem more pitiful than anything. it appears they already know what anne’s fate will be. 3:22 anne’s hand wrapped around her throat. oh, anne knows what will happen too. 3:29 the ground crumbling beneath anne’s feet is a wonderful addition. really emphasises the absolute hopelessness of the situation. 3:45 anne kneels alone in a crowd, everyone staring at her, everyone judging her. my heart hurts so much, oh my god. 3:58 she’s looking at the kid. holy god, she’s looking at her kid, and her kid is staring back - and then reaches out an arm for her mother, despite being behind bars. . you are hurting me so much. i am in physical pain. 4:00 the anger in the executor’s face, the way anne takes death with a smile, her outstretched at the last second. pain is all i know. your art is such an inspiration for me, especially your animatics. if anyone read this far, i hope you have a good week. take care :)

How you used the blur was really clever, and I really loved the transition! Usually people make Anne seem like a chaotic kind of person, but the way you drew her with her hair gradually getting more messy like she was going crazy a bit with everyone's criticism made me feel more bad for her. Really great job!

I love how you made Anne sympathetic and actually face how she fucked over not only Catherine but her daughter as well, and feels bad about it. A lot either ignore that part or make Ann seem like a asshole that argon should just forgive cus Henry fucked her over too. Nothing wrong with that mind you, and actually is closer to how Ann probably was in real life. ( six paints Ann as a dumbass who just made bad decisions when actual Ann knew exactly what she was doing.) but I always wanted an animatic to acknowledge her mistakes and give her more depth.

1) YOUR BACK 2) I like to and still believe that the choker on Anne's neck symbolizes her beheading 3) remember that all you wanna do video ya animated I like to think the cracks on Catherine's body resembled her sanity(or something like that) until she broke and got beheaded (kinda ironic that her first cousin got beheaded *Ms. Anne Boylen* )

I love how you decided to show how she was actually FORCED to do what she did and how little power she really had. She almost seems like she's a some sort of puppet, that's just manipulated by others into a destiny she didn't even want, how she's almost a victim of everything that's going on around her. It really almost seems like she's a victim of "the animation", since she's not in control of herself or her actions, of which the animator is (representing how much of a puppet she really was throughout almost her whole life, and how much she was treated and used as such), and she can't even do anything against the "storyline" that the animator wants to go with, even though she shows remorse, sadness, fear and anger towards what she's being forced to do and the pain she's being forced to inflict. She can't do anything about it, rather than just give up and accept her fate. It's shown how much she tries to fight against it all, against the "storyline" of which she's a victim of, but how, in the end, she just gives up, exhausted, desperately, with a desperate and painful smile on her face. She was just a doll to everyone around her, and as it happens with dolls, eventually...people get tired of them, and throw them away like trash. The strings that were used to control her, to made her stand up, and to made her walk, are the same strings that drew the line around her neck. The pen and animator which created her, is also the one because of which she's gonna be forever erased. I got those vibes, so this is kinda of a personal interpretation! :'D Loved the aniamtic! I love Anne Boleyn, and I love how you represented her 💚🖤

Well done. This is the first animatic that I have seen that does not portrait her as cruel or manipulative. I hate how some of them make it seem like she deserved her ending. You actually made one where she is a complex person who is both proud of her power but also regrets her certain actions. I absolutely loved it.

4:03 That was a good history reference! This is a thing that Elizabeth I (Anne Boleyn's daugher) carried with her self. She is the one of the down photo, and some historians say that the one of up photo is Anne Boleyn. This isn't confirmed, but was a good reference. (Also, i loved that the Elizabeth I design in there is the same one of Six the Kids)

I love how Mary is red. It matches her nickname “ Bloody Mary “. I don’t know if that was intentional, but it’s still interesting. Another thing I noticed is that at the end of the chorus, (I.e. 1:25), there are theatrical masks. The smiling one is out in the open while the frowning one is hidden behind a pamphlet, to show how Anne is hiding her fear behind her confidence.

I love theese historical details. Little Elizabeth her pendant with Anne's picture. Sure it is angst, but hey live of Anne Bolleyn was pretty angsty. Anne's father who thought about women they are just things that they'll get you higher position in court. That smile that Mary had when she saw execution of woman she hated, 'cause she blamed her for loosing her mother. Even that detail, because it is known thing that people didn't like Anne, they loved their Queen Catherine and Anne was scandalous. And in the end Anne was betrayed, executed as a witch (because of her sixth nail on her little finger) and treason against king.

This is really amazing because unlike in other animatics I've seen, Anne actually feels bad about what she's doing and she almost has a redemptive character arc. In the end, she also feels like she deserves her beheading, so instead of just contempt for her beheaders, she looks like she feels almost grateful or something

I love how (at least to me) Anne seems confused on the line "What was I meant to do?" every time it comes up. It's not trying to shrug off her decisions as it was the only option like other animatics do, she's genuinely asking the others what else could she have done. Not to mention for most of those sections she looks mostly confused or scared as if she thought she was doing the right thing. It also ties into the regret she has regarding her actions toward Catherine and Mary as if it's all stacking up in her mind as she realizes just how much she's ruining their lives. I also like the detail that the other wives mainly follow her around angrily and scold her for her actions, but when her fate is sealed they realize she genuinely thought she was making all the right decisions and move in to comfort her before her downfall. Also, love the detail of how she smiles when the line "I didn't mean to hurt anyone", she seems remorseful for the harm and happy in the fact she knows she wasn't trying to hurt anyone even if nobody else will believe her. (Just my thought. I'm just a casual listener to the musical, so I'm sorry for any historical/contextual errors I might've made)

The bit at 1:31 with the two candles is really interesting to me The first thing I noticed was the yellow and green flames (making it obvious that they are supposed to represent Anne and Catherine respectively) the yellow one has a smaller flame and it's significantly shorter than the green indicating it would burn out first however green candle is significantly thinner and has a much larger flame which would cause it to burn more quickly. I have multiple theories for the meaning of this 1. The candles represent their marriages (more likely just because of the putting one out thing) Catherine and Henry had a long marriage so a large candle burning more slowly makes sense so does the smaller flame given flames often symbolise passion which was clearly dwindling then it extinguishes while Anne's marriage burned quickly and only lasted a few years and the flame being larger representing that Henry hadn't tired of her yet 2. The candles represent their lives If the candles were both left burning they probably would've burnt out around the same time and Anne was executed in may 1536 just a few months after Catherine died in January of the same year. The Catherine candle was originally bigger than the Anne candle which could represent that she had a relatively long life (dying at 50) while Anne's smaller faster burning candle wouldn't burn nearly as long (she died somewhere around age 28-36 depending on the proposed birth year) and who knows maybe someone extinguished the Anne candle off screen

Oh no poor Catherine she's devastated and then Anne peeking through the door and reaching out hand before pulling away then that guilty expression after she shuts the door ahhhh I love it then she seems to be trying (and failing) to persuade herself that she's not doing anything wrong throughout the rest of the chorus Ooh The bit on the church is slightly confusing because she I can't actually tell how she feels about the it because she seems excited then the expression changes to angry (?) and she's kicking at something so I'm not entirely sure there also her watching the ring turn from gold to green Aaawww baby Elizabeth And now I'm sad again oh gosh poor Anne she looks like she's shaking and then the figures all change to a sympathetic tone rather than the accusational one they used previously it's and Henry grabbing her dang woah poor girl the hand protectively on her neck too and the pleadingly asking what she was meant to do while her surroundings start cracking ouch the reaching for help when she started slipping but all the figures just standing there... the entire falling and execution scene hurts because dang the reach out part with Elizabeth and the fact Elizabeth is watching her own mother's execution ouch (don't imagine Elizabeth asking someone where her mum is a little while later because she's still technically a toddler) and ending with the portrait ring thing (if I recognise it correctly)

Okay, new favorite animation for this song. I love how you portrayed her as desperate instead of cocky and arrogant! Clearly the father had a big part to play in the stress, in this version. Also, just read about how Anne was never a mistress. She was very abused by all the men in her life and I think yelling to Henry was the best thing she did in this whole animatic. The fact that he beheads her in the end only shows his own incompetence and lack of empathy for the women around him.
