I’ve never shared a room in the US. Our rooms usually have 2 different types of sleeping areas for families too. Usually there’s a reclining chair and also a sofa type thing under the window that can be used as a bed.

Shared a room when I was on a psych ward, I liked sharing and I shared with a lot cool people. Another perk was you got a bathroom door if you shared a room. All the single rooms had like a small flap which didn't provide any privacy. When I shared a room staff actually unlocked the bathroom door one time when I was inside, when I was fine, but for some reason they thought I wasn't.

I’m not certain about the others, but eds is incurable and they have like no treatments for it... I don’t think they’re trying to find a treatment either as it’s not so common so they can’t profit from it. The day them find a cure will be the best day of my life, but it’s being too optimistic.

My parents usually choose for me to be in a shared room cause it’s cheaper. The rooms I’m usually in have around 6-8 patients and the toilets are the worst cause the 30 over patients in the ward use those shared toilets. Not having any AC bothers me too cause my hair gets so oily when I do not have a shower for days in the hospital. There’s no tele too so yeah, it sucks unless you’re rich and can stay in a single room with your own toilet and you have the AC. I’m in Singapore right now cause my parents have got to work but really miss Perth so much! Glad to see that you’re getting adequate nutrition!

I’m lucky that the town I live in in the US is big enough to have a really nice hospital but small enough where inpatients get their own room and it’s never super full or busy . The rooms by me are a bit bigger , has more colors in it and designs to where it actually looks and feels like a nice hotel room . There’s an extra recliner ‘sleeper’ chair for a guest to sit or sleep when visiting . I also had my own bathroom with the toilet , sink , and a big walk in shower .

hi Amy I have spent quite a few times in hospital here in the uk. you only mentioned the good bits about the rooms or bays. my wife works as a housekeeper in our local hospital and my youngest daughter is a nurse in an paediatric oncology day unit. she is familiar with the stuff you use (tpn hickman line etc) she was telling me that patients where she works are not allowed to touch their lines etc (in am talking over 18s) she also has me and cross and can only work part time as it were. so mon-fri suits her. she tells me some.of the things they do there (no patient details of course ) sorry for rambling. I wish I had stayed in rooms like yours. how long you been down under? I have never been but I have distant relatives in new. it's good you going home, you are an inspiration to many I am sure as you come over as soon positive. hope things continue to improve so that you feel better. hugs and best wishes ☺👴👍❤

i feel like it'd be hard to compare to other countries (especially the US) considering our healthcare is free (unless you're in a private hospital, i'm not sure, it's hard to tell from the room because I know some public ones can be nice!) but whereas in the US for a hospital room you'd want to get something pretty damn nice for the $$$ you pay for the room.

The last time I was an inpatient was when I was around 5 years old and had to be admitted due to Henoch-Schonlein purpura. I remember the doctor's and my mum taking antivirals and rushing me to a specialist because they didn't know what it was or if it was contagious. The specialist said he'd never encountered HSP, only read about it in school. 😂 Luckily I didn't have major complications, but I do remember struggling to walk into the hospital and my mum trying to carry me because we didn't see the wheelchairs at the entrance, huge bruises and getting my bum checked out every couple hours. Anyways, on to the hospital standards... I was placed into a room with 6 beds in total, occupied by me and another 3 people at the time. Each bed had a ceiling TV, cupboard and visitors chair with curtains for privacy. The boy across from me at the time had to be in hospital for quite some time so during my stay, him and his mum ended up changing to a private room so that his mum could rent out a real bed for herself too instead of a chair. Obviously this costs quite a lot more especially because it's a private hospital. I was quite young so I might not remember, but I don't think the private room had its own bathroom and there was a communal bathroom for each ward/wing. I just turned 17 and am going to have to go in to have my wisdom teeth removed. I have no idea if I'll be admitted or just a day patient. I'm quite nervous to see how I react to anaesthesia because I've not had it since I had dental work as a toddler, but apparently it gave me quite the temper as a child

You’re such a beautiful person inside and out. Ur personality keeps me watching your videos, so positive all the time. I live in Toronto (Canada) and work in a hospital and most of the rooms are 2-3 people in one room, in the hospital I work in they charge $325 Canadian a night for private rooms. But shared rooms are free (along with most health care here) they only have 3 units in the entire hospital that have all private rooms ( including the one I work on haematology) but on my unit all the the rooms are free even though they are all private because they are to sick to share rooms. The rooms look like just like that only difference is all of the rooms have a separate hand washing station with censored sinks, all rooms (on my unit) have flat screen TVs, iPads and LED lights in the bathrooms to disinfect.

Hi Amy Lee, I'm Jill and I'm from Scotland, I have been in and out of hospital a lot over the last couple of years, there's time's were I have my own room, then there's the time's that I'm in a shared ward which I hate, especially when people snoar as I'm a very light sleeper, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get my own next month, as I'm going in for an operation, and after the operation I've been told that I will be going into the High dependancy unit, that's due to my other health conditions, so I kind of know how you feel, especially as we both have one of the same health conditions, fibromyalgia, but the operation I'm having is nothing to do with that, I have gallstones and I'm getting my gallbladder removed, I've subscribed to your channel, it would be nice if you could subscribe to mine, as it would be nice to keep in touch, from Jill x

In Germany it depends on which insurance you have. If you have the government insurance you mostly stay in shared rooms with 2/3 people and a shared bathroom outside of your room. If you have the government insurance and enough money you can upgrade to a single room with your own bathroom (or if you have an illness, which can maybe harm other people and patients (In one clinic I got a single room because of vomiting, which is a common symptome of my, but the clinic didn't knew it, so the nurses and doctors came in with safety clothing and my mom started to laugh, because she knew that the vomiting is "just" my own problem and can't harm others). If you have the private insurance you get a single room, the best nurses and doctors and even different and better food (after an operation I got pizza and chocolate pudding, it was great). As a person who tried both insurances, I can say you can live with both. Sure, private is luxurious and nice, but the government insurance isn't that bad either. But you have to wait wayyyyy longer for anything, your doctors aren't the leading ones and you don't get the treatments as fast as private (I once rang in the night through the telephone (it's possible in some hospitals) because I wanted pain killers, but the nurses didn't even came. Only after my dad got really mad they started to give me my medication on time and if I wanted/needed it).

In our major hospital it depends what ward, they have been renovating and the older wards have a combination of a 4 bed, 2 bed and single rooms. The new wards are all singles, and paeds are all single with ‘ daybeds’ along the window for parents, the other rooms in the newer section are the same, single rooms as it is new. ICU have bays but you are so sick you don’t care and get bed washes so don’t need bathrooms. I was in hospital for a year and colonised with VRE so I always get a single

I had a Hickman once. It wasn't too bad. Also I'm in the US and your room is pretty much like ones I've stayed in before. Usually there's also a recliner where someone could sleep if they're staying overnight.

I live in sweden, and usually it’s shared rooms, but if they know you are going to stay for a while they put you in a room where it’s only you (in the childrens hospital) :)

Future Amy looks beautiful, you should make some makeup videos 😍 Besides, thank you for the room tour. A friend is going to spend some time in the hospital and I think this video could help him to know what to expect.
