I’ve watched a few and they have cotton on the outside and PUL on the inside. Are just using PUL, acceptable? I’m going to be making them for my great-granddaughter due in August.
I love your tutorial. I was cutting two pieces of fabric, then on the front one I would cut the top section down about 3". To the bottom of that piece, I would sew the zipper, then to the top of the back piece. Your way is much easier and less seams. Thank you!!!! Although I never use pins with PUL, no added holes and I don't have to worry about catching the pins. I use clips instead. I did notice you pinned very close to the edge, so you don't have to worry about holes.
Thank you. 🙏🏼💕 I love learning little tips like this and sharing with others. Hope it wasn't confusing with my unusual backwards zipper. 😆 Happy bag making!
would it be better to get a zipper that fits perfectly that you dont have to cut, does cutting them pose a risk of them coming undone, I have no clue about zippers, never would have thought you could cut them, thank you.
They key for it to work is to use small stitches and to go back and forth over the zipper area multiple times for secure reinforcement. The nylon zippers can be cut but I wouldn’t cut those large metal zippers (large coat type). And never use your good sewing scissors. ✂️ (causes damage to the blades) 🤓
