I think Alfred hires other services because butlers were traditionally the head of staff in a household. It makes sense for them to manage other employees.
It is ever so slightly annoying though when he rips into your money in a blink of an eye, but since you'd only really hire a butler when you have oodles of cash, it makes sense
I remember once in the Sims 4, my Sim ordered my butler to cook dinner. After cooking dinner, the butler fed it my Sim's dog. Let's just say someone got laid off...
Damn, I feel so bad for the Sims 1 butler, his idle animations seem so depressed and his reaction to being fired is so sad. Why does Alfred seem like someone who never wanted this life but ended up stuck with this job for many, many long decades until he's reached an age where he considers it's too late to try anything new? 😔
In SIMS 2 game that I played yesterday, the butler took care of the baby. And he was so serious about it... that he actually left the lot WITH THE BABY! And the baby disappered from the family. And he never brought it back.
one time my Sim asked her butler for advice and he basically told her that her outfit was tired out and she should change it. i obsessively plan new outfits for my sims now 😭 this was also after he hadn’t been sleeping for days and kept passing out in random places, and after this he finally went to bed. i imagine this was weighing on him heavily lol
I didn't know butlers could quit if they were mistreated which is weird since i always use them as food for my vampire sims, you'd think they'd quit at that point but no
i wish you mentioned how they’ll drink up all your liquor in the sims 3 😭 i have to put my juice kegs away during the week because Bertram’s an alcoholic
@@ladyhella7560 Yeap, same with me too as well!. It would have been totally cool, tbh. But asides from that, i think they're way more a like real butler would have been acted in IRL and better in my opinion
How people view the Sims games in general: Sims 2: the one no one hates Sims 3: the one everyone loves (but those with bad computers hate) Sims 4: the one everyone loves to hate
Sims 3 is poorly optimized, you can have the best computer and get it to recognize your hardware and it will still pack up. Not to mention the potato faces and the fact that story progression no longer happens. It's great with mods but so are all the others.
I personally don't enjoy the Sims 3 and know of plenty of people who don't either so wouldn't say everyone loves it lol but it is true that mostly everyone loves to hate the Sims 4
They will die lol. Plantsims are only good as household members. They won't out of their own seek out sunlight or greenhouse kamps. But you and I had the same idea. On another note, for some reason, several people have independently tried to make Crumplebottom into a vampire. Only to find out it instantly breaks all your game files and you have to uninstall and reinstall lol.
@@demo2823 It's due to the type of NPC that she is, a universal NPC-within the game files, Mrs. Crumplebottom is considered an object, not a Sim, so doing things like adding her to your household or basically doing any interaction outside of her normal ones (i.e., building any sort of relationship with her) can and likely will cause corruption. However, butlers are known safe playables. So maybe I'll make them into a PlantSim and move them in ASAP? Lol.
The butler will call the police and fire fighters in Sims 2 as well if needed. I remember in a playthrough where the person was trying to drown someone in their pool and the butler called the cops on them! Although the cops didn't realise what was happening so they got a fine for calling without needing them lol
Sounds like a typical emergency in the sims lol. I don't know what's up with my butler but he never called anyone for fire nor for the burglar, didn't even react so I guess it was a bug
I like the butler in the Sims 2 because he does everything. He cooks, he cleans and even takes care of the babies and toddlers automatically. 🙂 While in the sims 4 I always need to tell the butler to cook for example which is a bit annoying.
I haven't played The Sims 2 for years, but I remember the butlers taking care of babies, even better than nannies. So I usually hired a butler instead of a nanny....
The only downside is they can’t stay at night. So you are force to hire a nanny if your adult sims going out. Kinda bummer because they were so close the perfect.
Honestly I didn’t know butlers existed in the sims since the maids are definitely more popular. Either way the butlers are equally as cool and fun haha
My Sims family in Sims 4 has this bug where the butlers swap everytime I load into the home lot. Butler 1 is young, Butler 2 is elderly. It gets annoying after a while. Also, I wish Sims 4 butlers took care of themselves. Like, we don't need to tell them to sleep. Do that yourself!
That's an interesting bug... in my case it didn't matter how many times my Sims would move homes, halt butler services & take it again, I always had the same butler coming.
@@ember9361 I don't know. I'll try and test it later. I got fed up with the butlers after a while I sacked them. But butlers is a cool feature, so I'd want to see if it works again. But on a differernt save file probably.
Of all the Sims 4 game mechanics I haven't tried yet, I have not tried the Butler mechanic yet! Watching this literally made me think of what I haven't tried yet!
Back in sims 1, i used to hire the maid and gardener because i didnt want the outdoor plant to die.. didnt get to try hiring for sims 2 (forgot abt them), and then I hired the butler in sims 3 and loved it!
There isn’t a single Sim in the Sims 4 that isn’t a computer addict. Even random ones walking down the street will come in and just play on a computer in a strangers house for hours.
Once when I was playing with a family I created that I made famous and I noticed their female butler had a pregnant belly, so I used the MCC and found out she was pregnant with a girl. I didn't know if she would have the baby since she was a NPC, so I added her to my family and let her have her baby. The weirdest part is that the butler's daughter shows who the birth father is, but the butler doesn't even have him in her relationships.
Sims 1 is Alfred from Batman. Hahahahahaha! Lol! The one I like is Sims 4, I like The Sims 4 butler the best. Plus I can create my own butler in the game.
Yea I’m still confused on why people think TS4 graphics are good. I have to use a reshader and skins on sims to make them look good. Then you look at the outside environment and it looks like the graphics of Spyro.. the grass doesn’t even look like grass, you can tell the harsh lines between the “ground” and pasted on long grass in the background. I get they can’t have taxing graphics because of people with horrible old computers but they brought back loading screens for what exactly? Because this game does not exceed the older games in any way imo.
We’ve heard this story a thousand times now.. It might not even happen considering EA’s mismanagement, and not everyone likes the Sims 4 graphics, myself included.
In Sims 3 when it's fall season my butler spends all day raking leaves! My lot is small but he takes so long doing just that, even losing sleep and badly needing a shower. When I send my sims to university though I always hire a butler to keep the dorm clean.
Totally random and has nothing to do with the video but when I saw the Butler playing piano I just remembered in Sims 1 when you placed a piano on a community lot there would be an NPC playing the Piano when you visit that place and in restaurants you could have a guy with a guitar or violin serenading during your meals. I miss that. I was very dissapointed when playing the Sims 2 the first time and there was no music in my restaurants (except from speakers, but that is not the same)
Sims 1: Butler immediately hires maid and gardener cause he can't do sh** (what a loser) Sims 2: Butler immediately dismisses both of them cause he'll handle everything himself (MY MAN!) 😂
In Sims 4 they are always Evil. I don't know why. :D In Sims 1 a family had a butler and children, but the parents died. And the children could live with the butler alone, making them food and taking care of the household.
In Sims 1, kids can live without an adult, no social worker comes to fetch them unless their grades or hunger goes down. I wanted to have a kid magician living on their own in Magic Town only to find out they couldn't use A Hole in the Ground or call the balloon cab. Had to suffice on a magic box glitch for my toadstools and toadswear.
Also, something I noticed with Sims 3 butlers is that if you add them to your household, they have maxed cooking and handiness skill I think? Could be wrong, but that's what I remember. With that being said, if you want to play a sim with one of those skills maxed but don't feel like waiting-
i remember playing sims 1 back in 2011 and i always thought i was playing sims 3 cuz the logo for the games has a 3 on it. and i also only played the base game, but that was more entertaining than sims 4 today, like i had a lot to do even at night when burglars came, in sims 4 i just had to fast forward the night.
I've read somewhere that in Sims 1 the butler will activate Bonehilda if her coffin is on the lot. Not sure if that's true, though. I never played Makin' Magic. But considering Sims 1 was actually pretty good in mixing the packs, I can believe it. Anyway, I didn't use butlers that much, becaus they annoyed me. Ins Sims 1 and 2 they were the best for me. Sims 4 their options are good too, but they are quite bugged. In Sims 3 they are the most annoying and their efficiency depends on their traits. Once i've got lazy butler who did close to nothing. Other time I've got one that hated children, so not only she didn't care of them, but she showed her annoyance quite visibly. Of course that didn't work for family with two children and a toddler, so, she must go. That's why in Sims 3 whenever I play rich family, I started to prefer to create my own live-in controlable butlers with traits I want them and cheated skills. That worked best for me.
I had many butlers in Sims 3, but they're hard to keep in your house, one day they'll disappear for no reason. Sometimes you'll find out they quit as you can call services and hire another one, sometimes they vanish, but they keep earning their salary (in that case you have to reset sim, otherwise you'd have to look for them around the city... and good luck with that!). They do very random stuff, and they're high maintenance: if your entire household doesn't have a good relationship with the butler, he'll vanish!
i hired one once for the sorority house when my sim was going to University. they had a raging juice kegger party and the butler was gone the next day 😂 can’t say i blame her
1:44 tutorial how to wash dishes in sims 2 1 turn on water with bubbles 2 put the dish with food 3 delete dish of food with flies in the sink and turn off the water
The butler can do anything, cook, attend your garden, clean your house, fix your manor after a fire, get rid of intruders, gather information, partake in your evil plan of vengeance behind the people that killed your parents and ruined your family, but beware take he'll take your soul ರ_ರ
I had no idea butlers quit if mistreated. I always used maids (except at University in Sims 2), gardeners, and babysitters, so I had no need for a butler. Sims 2 is so much fun. I need to get back into playing again.
6:20 Only make individual meals? I have a MinusOne Kelvin fridge in one sim home full of the Butlers family meals... enough to feed all the towns and homeless townies in them for a week and not a single meal made by my Sim who stopped cooking at home once he got level 10 cooking at level 7 of the career. No leftovers left once the MinusOne Kelvin fridge was awarded and it was a couple weeks later before the butler was hired when his wife hit level 10 on her career... butler was there for 3 generations of children, them and their spouses career and lifetime wish completion... like 3 years in the game. Every 2 days the butler would cook a family meal for just 1 sime but 8 of them and their hunger was all over the place so sometimes 2 meals a day one day and 3 the next.
In Sims 2 I had Cyd Roseland marry one of the burglars in Pleasantview Russ Bear & the Butler kept calling the police on him even if he was at work! Lol I had to fire the butler & hire the maid instead.
Wow for once, Butlers in sims 4 are actually not that bad and are I think the best ones out of them all, they have all the options of the other butlers combined plus you can control Thier routine
Ooh, you forgot something. Butlers in The Sims 4 can misbehave if you let them too many time in your house without supervision. For example, they can drink from the bar or even use your tub.
Well they technically become members of your household once you hire them (minus them being unplayable characters) so I’d hope they’d use the tub from time to time lol.
My celeb Sims have a butler atm and I love her, except she keeps catching on fire! My Sim has saved her so many times. She has her own guest house with that like $12,000 tub. We love Miwa

I use butler all the time, but for marriage purposes. Excellent character with several skills already.
In TS2, the butler would ask before dismissing the rest of the staff and mine took care of the babies. It seems like some butlers are better than others. One burns meals or forgets to make one while another is an excellent cook.
Sims 3 butlers, if in Bridgeport, will under Ask Advice potentially mention rumours about Fish Boy living in the sewers, who in Island Paradise is revealed to now be Triton (his biography says he was formerly known as Fish Boy). Previously, fan theory was that Fish Boy was from Twinbrook, because all the ghosts there had a 'fishy' pallor, and that it had somethung to do with pollution of the local waters. Another thing I find funny is that the butler, under ask for advice, can say they find people's interest in the size of the female bust barbaric. This may have been a developer reaction because they introduced the bust slider in Late Night after popular demand. But since the randomly generated butlers usually have middle fat levels, and these add on dramatically to the bust slider, my female butlers who complain about the commentary on female bust size, always have... well... the biggest kahunas.
I'm between the Sims 3 butler and Sims 1 for the winner, i think all games added different things that makes their version of the butler unique, all of them are good in their own way
I remember feeling super rich when I could finally afford to hire Alfred in the Sims. Loved that in Sims 2, I could finally interact with the butler, but saddened he had to leave 3 hours earlier than Alfred did. I was most excited with Sims 3's butlers, because they realistically are live in service. Sims 3 would have easily won the prize, but they lose points for not tending to gardens, taking days off (without temporary replacements), and if you have a beehive, you better have mods to stop them from being anywhere near them...I won't spoil for anyone who has yet to experience the usual outcome. While I do not own the Sims 4 pack that has butlers, they seem okay, and hopefully work better than the maids. Sims 2 butlers do try to care for the babies/toddlers, but the code is broken, but there are mods to fix or just rid those interactions entirely. Despite Sims 2 not having the longest shifts for the butlers, I still find them to be the most elegant and charming, like my inner head cannon thinks they should be.
@@TheRedPlumbob If you ever decide to do a beehive comparison, make sure you have a butler hired to compare that as well, not certain how the other Sims games will pan out (I will likely test The Sims, but due to how service workers are coded, if Alfred does interact with the beehive, it will likely not have Sims 3 results). 🙃
@@dundee6402 I totally forgot about that, but Bonehilda was somehow good at training pets (who irl would be gnawing at her bones). 🤭☠ I do know that in TS2, there is just one nanny that has enough competence to at least not starve the babies and toddlers, but that is just the bare minimum. I often have had to cheat needs, so kids won't be taken away by social services, even after hiring a nanny. Oddly enough, when you ask a neighbor to babysit or pet sit in TS2:AL, all needs are met, without issue, and they are not being paid, go figure. 🤷♀️
The butler is OBSESSED with babies and toddler in my game (TS2) and won't leave them alone. I had to download a mod because he wouldn't let them sleep 😢
