I couldn’t sleep as usual so was letting my fingers explore You Tube and I was surprised to learn this still exists. I was a CX FA in the late 70’s & was one of the FA’s in national costume representing the Philippines (see the print ad in the 1st quarter of the video). Reminiscing my youth in the good old days of Cathay & Hong Kong.

I am a former Stewardess and this brings back memories of it being a very glamorous and exciting time! ❤

This is practically the theme song of Hong Kong during its golden period, and alas also its swan song. Thank you for the memory. 🥲

飛行機と言う高速で移動する乗り物のコマーシャルに、ここまでゆったりしたメロディの曲を充てた 当時の制作者のセンスが素晴らしい。

Nothing screams "Cathay Pacific" than this song. They should really consider using this song once again as their theme to revitalize their branding.

After all these years, this song and the visuals still makes me emotional. Growing up in Hong Kong and being part of the Cathay family experience, it all seems a lifetime ago. Never take any chapter of your life for granted, always look for good moments no matter where you are.

Whoever chose this piece of music for Cathay back in the 70s was a genius. To this day, I still haven't heard anything more perfect for an airline ad or, indeed, for the whole experience of flying. And Barry White was truly a spectacular talent. Never has love sounded so romantic, uplifting, joyous and hopeful. Thank you for uploading.

This song is timeless. Cathay Pacific can still use this as the boarding music. I myself am training to become a pilot and enjoy listening to this song: lots of memories are associated with Love's Theme

キャセイパシフィック航空のCM本当に涙が出る程 懐かしいです。 キャセイパシフィックさんには何度か利用させて頂きましたが、 もう40年近く前に当時着陸が世界一難しいと言われていた 香港の啓徳空港に特に夜便で着陸する時には、 漆黒の海から香港の陸地に入ると急に眩いばかりの 艶やかな電飾の街並みが視界に入って来たかと思うと、 高層ビルの真上をまるでビルの間を縫う様に飛行した時の夜景は 余りの素晴らしさに今もしっかり記憶に残っています。 本当に懐かしくて、私にとっても本当に良い時代でした。

This song runs my emotion high - non-related to Cathay - just the 70s. Such a timeless orchestrated piece.

I was in elementary when i saw that commercial in tv. And i told myself that one day i will experience travelling. And it happened.

I flew from Australia to London via Hong Kong with Cathay Pacific in 1985 and can remember this music playing in the cabin on landing. The approach and landing in Hong Kong were something else! It felt like the plane was crashing, but we landed safely. Cathay Pacific are a fantastic airline.

My high school classroom overlooked the Kai Tak runway, countless daydreams after, I finally took off from that very same runway.....do remember my head turning back to take that one final look of that Pearl of the Orient that is now NO MORE.

the real hong kiong is dying.... so sad. I really miss the good old days of hong kong. unfortunately everything has been gradually changed to negative side after 1997.........

I heard this song for the first time like 48 years ago in the original Cathay Pacific ad, kind of lifetime impression. Years ago did a search for it and found again. Still listening and repeating over now in 2024.

To those of us who grew up poor in the UK this tv commercial represented another world, a world where huge-salaried businesspeople travelled routinely with their jobs, and enjoyed the 'downtime' of sitting in a fat, comfy seat and being served unimaginable treats by stunningly beautiful girls. The excitement and glamour were like a dream to me. Years later I would become a regular traveller to places like New York and Australia, and the glamour gradually wore off to be replaced by a routine that was stressful - getting to the airport on time - and not too comfy for a big bloke sat in a child's seat! But we do have the flying still, which is great. I'd love Cathay and British Caledonian to return, and maybe Pan Am too, though it would be tough to recapture the glamour and excitement of long haul air travel at a time when it was still very special. If you enjoyed this commercial then you might also like the British Caledonian one from the same era, written by David Dundas surprisingly, a gorgeous tune set off perfectly by beautiful Caledonian girls and gorgeous DC-10s. まだ海外旅行があこがれだった時代、ワクワクしながら見ていたtv-adでした。 PANAM, BOAC, VARIG, 多くの社名は統合などによって消えてしまったけどCathayPacificは消えて欲しくないな。

この作品は、私が最も好きなRU-vid動画の一つです。1970～90年代に香港に通っていた時に使っていた航空会社はほとんどCathayでした。2004年を最後に香港にはいっていませんが、もう一度行ってみたいと思っています。

For some reason, unbeknownst to me, Cathay Pacific came to mind when I first heard “Love’s Theme” on CD in 2004 while I was a freshman in high school in Texas. I traveled to Hong Kong from LAX with my mom through Cathay Pacific while I was a little boy from Houston IAH airport, which was my hometown in the early to mid 90s. After looking up Love’s Theme with Cathay Pacific in google search engine, surprise that it was indeed a real thing! I was a child who didn’t capture much detail back then but somehow, though it was 11 or so years prior, I may have heard Love’s Theme playing on that Cathay Pacific 747. I flew Cathay Pacific a few times before my mom decided to find something cheaper. 20 years later, Love’s Theme still is holds a special place in my listening library and my heart.

My most memorable flight descent into an airport was at Kai Tak in 1994. It was at night and I could see people staying in the residential blocks in Kowloon going about their evening routine in their homes. So fascinating.

Heard this wonderful music via the Cathay Pacific ad when I was a young 8 year old kid from a poor family....somehow made it through life with pure determination and a lot of help from above....now, whenever I travel and just before I board an aircraft, this tune plays in my head and I am once again that 8 year old dreaming and wondering what it’s like to be flying....thank you Barry White for the music, and Cathay for the inspiration

One of best Ads. Simply one of the best. Then there was The Drums. Lettuce Sandwich(loved that) Tail, until it became The Brush wing...

Listen to it again..... imagine the 747 at the start of the runway, the captain runs up the engine, you can hear the guitar which is the flashing light on the wings...then as the engines roar, the music volume increases until, just as the nose lifts, the violins come in at the high note..... and a few minutes later, the strings break in again as the plane lifts through the clouds and into the blue..... was there ever an ad with such evocative music? It stays with me for ever.
