He plays this faster than most renditions available. So talented. Wow. Thank you for this!

Narciso is very gifted, I agree. But you shouldn't base your judgement on speed alone.
@Synonomous
@Synonomous Год назад
@@AS-vb8kr There is no judgement only observation. He simply plays faster than most other renditions I've seen. I neither like it more nor less because of that. He was a great player regardless.
@AS-vb8kr
@AS-vb8kr Год назад
@@Synonomous Your original comment made it seem like (to me atleast) that you were calling him talented on the basis of speed alone (do note that I by no means wish to say that playing fast is easy). Regardless, I misunderstood. On a side note, my favourite interpretation of this piece comes from maestro Segovia What's yours?
@Synonomous
@Synonomous Год назад
@@AS-vb8kr Favourite would be purely subjective and there are really far too many to choose from! This piece being originally a practice piece has turned into quite a famous solo performance because of the technical aspect to which musicality needs to be kept in balance with so it doesn't sound mechanical. That said, the tremolo should sound like one note as is does on a violin or electric guitar, etc. So, if that part isn't played well the rest of the piece is less appealing for me. Segovia is a natural choice and he is brilliant as well as the bar to which many are held. Romero, for example, has a superb tremolo without it being anxious or rushed. I like the old masters as well as the many newer talents. I even saw a six year old girl play it superbly! I enjoy them all!
@AS-vb8kr

To me, he remains the best interpret of this piece. When he plays, you can almost feel the warmth of the sun on your skin. Totally solar, totally Spanish.
@TheRunner75
@TheRunner75 3 года назад
I disagree because it's way too fast and a bit soulless. John Williams plays it at the RIGHT speed. It's not a 100m race; It's music. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wPICse0ig_M.html
@pascalsolal
@pascalsolal 3 года назад
@@TheRunner75 Well, I guess it's subjective. I feel Yepes's interpretation is very soulful. And I think he choose this tempo not to impress anybody, but only because he felt it was the right tempo for this piece. This piece can be played in two ways: or very romantic, emotional; or very solar, in an "energy" oriented way. I like both.
@d0nj03
@d0nj03 3 года назад
@@TheRunner75 OK, pretty good, like 95% of the way there. But less emotion in the changes of pace and loudness than Pepe Romero, who is the stadard of perfection. :P ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RODZwcXCTbs.html
@1004Benny
@1004Benny 3 года назад
@@TheRunner75 Sorry to disagree with you. Tarrega did not indicate the specific tempo, as his manuscripts and early editions indicate the tempo only as "andante". Considering the accepted Italian markings for music "speed", andante means a range between 76 and 108 beats per minute, thus giving the player some lee way for execution. In this piece, the tempo "unit" is the quarter note (crotchet). Yepes plays it at a 100 beats per minute, while Williams plays it at 86 (I have checked both with my metronome). Both are correct in their preferences and you, obviously, as a listener, have the right to choose.
@pascalsolal
@pascalsolal 3 года назад
@@d0nj03 Yes, very beautiful and sensitive. But one thing bothers me: to me, the accompaniment is too loud, the melody is "drowned". In Yepes's interpretation, the melody is where it's supposed to be: first row. That's why I love Stephanie Jones's playing. She is a master at bringing out a melody.

at last , a version of Recuerdos with feeling. So many do it so perfectly mechanically ... leaves me squirming. This guy, Narciso, does it with feeling, as though telling a love story to children. Like at 1:45 change from minor to major ... a little rubato like you would do in a story. Others get all the notes, fantastically perfectly, but like robovoice reading a story.
