Donald Glover played Uncle Aaron in Spider-Man: Homecoming and actually mentioned that he had a nephew who lived in the neighborhood that he didn’t want anything bad happening to.
I saw it in IMAX 3D and I feel that was perfect because it has a 3D quality to it even when it's not in 3D because a lot of the non-focused stuff is a bit blurry. It was AWESOME in IMAX 3D, so I'd definitely suggest you see it that way for the next one.
Yes, Miles does have his own comics, but originally he lived in the Ultimate Universe , a parallel world separate from the main continuity. He has since moved to the main universe in the comics.
That’s why I sometimes don’t know how to feel about the introduction of the other Spider heroes. I feel like this should’ve been Miles movie, seeing as how this is our first introduction to him (in terms of the movies.)
It's genuinely amazing to me that, even though i knew all about Spider-Man when I watched it, i had no idea what to expect. It somehow managed to be entirely new and completely familiar AT THE SAME TIME. Oh, and it looks great, sounds great, makes you laugh, and is very moving ...also ALL AT THE SAME TIME! It's nuts.
I never noticed until now that when they recreated the kiss from the Tobey Maguire Spider-man during Peter Parker's lore recap at the beginning, they made Mary Jane the one hanging upside-down.
20:48 SpiderWoman, SpiderGwen, Silk, Madam Spider, Mary-Jane Watson-Parker (Spinnaret Earth 18119) , and Anna-May Parker (Spiderling Earth 18119) all have partial or full comic books about them.
Please keep doing Spider-Man reactions. Even if they don’t get a lot of views those of us that watch them really appreciate it. Plus they could blow up much later
Bloody good show! That was a high octane reaction. Totally unreal watching you getting everything you wanted….dope lady villain and heroine, story, animation, perfect music not to mention the Spider Gang and Aunt May. And you nailed it Spider-Jen...that is what is missing from the live action Spideys...the sense of absolutely anything goes which the animation totally bathes in. The closest in my estimation that the live actions come to the animations are the sequences where Parker is web slinging and the Doc Oc fight on down the bldg in the second movie. Champagne wishes Spider-Jen and as we say in the Marvel universe...’Nuff Said!!!
The spiderman at the endtag is spiderman 2099, a cyberpunk version. in the 90’s cyberpunk was rising and a limited run of comics for a couple of characters was printed. spiderman 2099, punisher 2099 etc.
This is my favorite movie of all time. I can't wait for Across the Spiderverse in a couple of weeks (I'm going to see it 7 times opening weekend) and Beyond the Spiderverse next year.
Yes, Every varient of Spider-Man in this movie is a characters form Comics they have first appearance in event name "Spider-Verse" except Miles because he is form Earth-1610 (AKA.Ultimate Universe) A parallel world created to edit character profiles and stories to be more modern
Miles is one of the most popular newer heroes there are multiple comic runs about him, featuring him in team-ups, etc. He first appeared in Ultimate Spider-Man. And yes, theres a Spider-Gwen comic. Theres also a Gwenpool comic, her name is a mix of Gwen Stacy and Deadpool and fun fact: she has no relation to either of those characters. Yeah, comics can be fun sometimes (But i heavily recommend the first Gwenpool comic!)
- It will be a trilogy; the next one, Across the Spider-Verse, comes out on Jun 3. The post credits scence shows Spider-Man 2099, who is in the sequel. You can look up the trailers for it. - This is largely based on the Marvel comic universe (which is not the same as the Marvel Cinematic Universe). Miles is a polarizing figure amonst fans of the Spider-Man comics. To simplify the explanation, in the comics, Marvel introduced him as a replacement to Peter Parker (the Peter B. Parker in this movie is basically an older (a modern, in 2018) OG Peter Parker from the "main" Marvel comic universe, since you see him in his home universe with a Coca Cola sign), and they did it in a pretty ham fisted way. Marvel had to back track on that when Miles was not accepted to a sufficient extent in the fan base. They have had more success with Miles being clearly set as the Spider Man of his own universe (and the Spider-Verse, which is also from the comics, allowing some expansion of the stories available) while keeping the OG Peter Parker as the Spider Man of the main Marvel Comics Universe. All that being said, this movie is widely considered as the best Spider-Man movie. - Yes there is a Spider Gwen comic, but there has also been a main Marvel universe Spider Woman (Jessica Drew) since 1977. An alternate universe version of Jessica will be in Across the Spider-Verse.
Sequel comes out to theaters June 2 this year 1 day before my birthday. Its called across the spider verse and a third one beyond the spider verse in 2024. Was supposed to be last year but delays happend.
Until No Way Home, this was the best Spider-Man film. But, you have to watch all the other Spider-Man films to really appreciate No Way Home. So, yes, watch them all.
youll lOVE this one i think! Also, spiderman 3 falls SO hard IMO, but theres some decentish moments. The Amazing Spiderman i think you'll like, and Tom Hollands is good as well which all leads to "No Way Home"!
@@jenmurrayxo I did. Ganke. It just bothers me everytime someone asks that because it reaffirms just how badly Tom Holland's spiderman screwed over miles both here and with his eventual MCU debut. I remember in interviews for this they even admitted the ned comparisons made including him difficult and were a major factor in him not getting speaking lines in this movie. Peter Parker has never had or needed a "guy in the chair" sidekick. They had no reason to take ganke, a core aspect of miles's lore, rename him ned and hand him off to Peter.
It's a shame you didn't watch Spider-Man 3... you missed several nods. And if you watch the Amazing Spider-Man movies, you have a much better feel for Gwen...
This was such a great reaction! I can’t believe I haven’t seen your content before but it was an instant sub for me! Great editing, commentary, and I loved the thematic text and thought bubbles 🤗
You watched it right on time, in June we get Spider-Man across the spider verse I CANNOT WAIT, day one I'll there. It'll continue right at the end when Gwen comes to get him and yes Spider-Man 2099 (Miguel O'hara) is who you saw at the end will be there, in fact there will be a whole world of Spider-Men/women keep an eye out for the trailer to wet your appetite Jen.
This is my fave Spiderman film. Love it so much. And if you're going to watch No Way Home then you should watch all of the other Spiderman films. It'll make your viewing experience so much better.
Spider-Ham is John Mullaney. OG Spider-Man is Chris Pine. Prowler is Mahershala Ali (He's teased in the MCU as Blade, among many other things) Gwen is Hailee Steinfeld (Vi from Arcane, and the new Hawkeye in MCU)
The Stan cameo in this was the first to reach theaters after his passing. I remember there being audible crying in the theater during that scene when I first went to see it. When Stan says that he’ll miss him, the whole audience was thinking, “we’re going to miss you too!”. The movie came out five years ago and that scene, and especially that line still hit me like a ton of bricks every time I watch it.
Totally didn't expect how good this would be when I first watched it -- the comic-animation incredible style, music, characters and heart! Remains my favourite Spiderman since Tobey. Growing up with Looney Tunes, Spiderham has a special place in my heart!
@@MaureenLongoriaTheOneAndOnly I've been looking forward to it so much, i'm scared to be let down by having too high hopes since this movie has such a special place in my heart :(
In Peni's home universe, Richard and Mary Parker weren't killed in an aeroplane crash, meaning Ben and May adopted a child, that child being Peni. This means that when Peni says that her father died, it's still Uncle Ben who died, despite Peter not becoming Spider-Man. Poor guy can't catch a break.
I don’t know why the Spider-Man reactions don’t get as many views as others, but it’s a solid choice, I like all the different Spider-Man movies, they’re all good and have their own unique feel to them.
One of the best animated and Spiderman movies ever made. I am floored everytime I watch it. Welcome to the Spiderverse Jen! Keep Wheezing! And keep watching Spiderman movies!
Most versions of Peter Parker Spider-Man don't have organic webbing. It was actually a mild controversy when the first Spider-Man movies came out, to not give him the web shooters.
Yes what great way to end a Monday night. This is my second favourite spider man movie and I can’t wait for spider man: Across the spider-verse to come out.
6:41 This comic is actually based on Amazing Fantasy #15 with the look of Peter and his suit being pulled from this comic. It's also his Earth-616 Mainline Universe origin story so it's interesting to see this in the Ultimate Universe Miles Universe is inspired by the Ultimate Universe known as Earth-1610. It was Marvels way of creating a new modernized continually, basically a starting point for a new generation who did not want to jump into a Universe with 60+ years of comic books making it extremely difficult for fans to just jump into Spider-Man comics. This universe started with Ultimate Spider-Man in 2000 set in the same year introducing us to a 15 year old Peter Parker modernized for this decade along with a few changes to his origin but for the most part it was pretty similar. 11 years later Miles was introduced and became Spider-Man like we see in this movies. In the comics there's a 15 year age difference between Miles and Peter with Miles being around 13 and Peter late 20's when they first meet. Peter Parker of the Ultimate Universe does not train Miles directly but after the death of Peter by the hands of his villians Miles takes up the mantle of Spider-Man. Green Gobin looking like a massive monster demon is also accurate to the Ultimate Universe. As this was a new universe disconnected from the mainline Earth-616 the writers could put interesting spins new spins on characters so instead of Norman being a super strength man in a Goblin suit and Glider he was turned into a demon like monster after he injected himself with a failed Super Solider Serum mixed with the same Spider dna that bite Peter. The biggest differences between the comics and this film is how long Miles and Peter knew each other. In the movie they barely get time to chat before Spider-Man dies while in the comics Miles and Peters were good friends for a few years before his death. The whole Spider-Verse aspect is also completely new and has nothing to do with the origin or Miles or the death of Ultimate Spider-Man. This happened later when Miles was the new Spider-Man where he actually meet up with a bunch of alternate Spider people and even meet the Spider-Man of Earth-616 mainline Marvel universe who after the Secret War event and the destruction of the Ultimate Universe Miles actually lives on Earth-616 now with this slightly older Spider-Man. Another difference is Peter Parker being blonde. This isn't hair dye as we also see a young blonde Peter with uncle Ben so interesting indeed. Also Miles Universe has some interesting brand differences from Koca-Cola instead of Coca-Cola to PDNY instead of NYPD just odd differences compared to our own universe and that of Peter B Parker. In the Ultimate comics brand names and pop Culture in general is the same as ours but I do like this change. On the topic of Peter P Parker he's from the Mainline Marvel Universe known as Earth-616 which you can see on Kingpins display. This is pretty much where all the mainline Marvel comics take place but like the Ultimate Universe this is all very much an adaptation of these universes so it's not one to one accurate. The MCU for example has also started referring to itself as Earth-616 as well.
Jen.🤨 Yes. U need to watch the other spidey movies. Esp if ur watching MCU movies. Period. U must watch all 3 Tobeys & 2 Andrews. Thank u for ur attention to this matter. Lol
Wow this was amazing, without doubt one of your very best reactions Jen incredible editing awesome little touches and a wisdom nugget "when in danger sing " brilliant 😅 your wisdom nuggets are one of my most favourite things I friggin love them 🤩 cheers for the mind-blowing reaction Jen that was epic 👌
Its too bad the OG's aren't getting the views. I think as you get closer to the more recent ones the views will climb, They all are worth a watch and are relevant to the entire series. Even this, although animated, is part of the big picture,
The sequel hits theaters June 2nd (US) and I can't wait!! Edit: And yea finish the trilogy and then watch the two Andrew Garfield movies, wouldn't be fair to leave him out lol and they are also good movies.
Spiderman 3: not good. Amazing Spiderman 1 and 2: meh. Homecoming and far from home: decently fun teen superhero movies. No way home: well you have to watch that one, It's the second best actiony movie in over two years.
Hey Jen you can absolutely say for me I really appreciate your spiderman stuff love him he's absolutely epic and of your videos reaction to great with all different emotions such the best you are treat to laugh smile and cry along with you the best
I confess to Marvel/DC burnout these days, but the animation on this one is BEAUTIFUL (as is the editing on this reaction). And yes, there was a comic called "Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham" in the 80s. That was a real thing.
Not only is the this the best Spiderman movie, but it's also one of the best superhero and animated movies, PERIOD! And as a home theater enthusiast, I can say it's also one of !best looking and sounding movies on 4K bluray! Unfortunately it had the lowest box office gross of all the Spiderman films, and a lot of people still won't give it a chance because it's animated, which is so friggin' lame! SMH...
For a new animated film, I highly recommend "A Scanner Darkly" an amazing film starring Keanu Reeves, RDJ, Woody Harrison, Rory Cochran and Wynona Ryder; It's a brilliant rendition of a book by Phillip K. Dick.
Would you believe, of all the alt-Spider-Men, the oldest is... *Spider-Ham?!* Yep. _Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham_ debuted in a parody comic in 1983. It featured anthropomorphized animal versions of all the Marvel superheroes of that era. The rest of them didn't exist until more than 30 years later.
Before you feel sorry for Kingpin, remember, his family left because they couldn't condone who he has become; also remember, even if his plan was totally successful, with NO complications due to the tamper, his goal was not to return his family from the dead, but to STEAL SOME OTHER VERSIONS FAMILY. Somewhere, in the multiverse, is a version who succeeded, and thus also somewhere there is a version that has had HIS wife and son stolen from HIM [and that version probably is blaming the wrong person].
Miles' history in the comics is a bit more complicated. Marvel started a new imprint called Ultimate Marvel, where they had a new universe, so that they could tell stories that didn't have decades of continuity to account for. The first and most popular title was Ultimate Spider-Man. It featured a version of Peter Parker that was much younger than one in the mainline universe. About 10 years of Ultimate Spider-Man comics later, they did a storyline where Peter died. However, soon afterwards a "new" Spider-Man appeared...Miles Morales. A few years later, there was a big crossover event called Secret Wars, where the entire Ultimate universe (and every other universe) was destroyed. A few survivors remained on a world pieced together from some of the different Earths, with both the mainline Spider-Man and the Ultimate Spider-Man (Miles Morales) being among them. That story ends with the re-creation of the multiverse, but instead of going back to "his" universe, Miles (along with his friends and family) end up staying in the mainline universe (alongside Peter Parker).
A point that becomes all the more relevant for the sequel: *all* the Spider people are from the comics. Yes, even Spider-Ham. If we go by Wiki-size alone, Marvel is the largest fictional universe ever created.
You HAVE to watch the other Spider-man movies, especially since you missed the references in this movie. Each one needs to be watched in release order. Even if you don't put it on the channel (probably should, since you are going to watch them anyway), or at least make them Patreon exclusives, so you don't have to concern yourself with copyright editing. The Amazing Spider-man series is a little tough to get through, but you will realize that it was the director's fault, not Andrew Garfield. edit - Though did you catch that the Noir Spider-man is none other than Nick Cage?
A) You need to watch the other three Sony Spider-Man movies before No Way Home. B) There’s a trailer out for the sequel to THIS spider-man animated movie. You should do a reaction to that.
this movie is easily one of the best marvel projects in the last 10 years. yeah i'd put it over endgame, this movie was amazing, visually, sonically, story wise, character wise. everything was soooo spot on and tight. beats the pulp out of recent marvel shit.
Admittedly I don't watch reactions to SP3 or ASM however they are so important to the new SM movies that they should at least be watched in private I think.
The newer Spiderman's are better but I loved all of them when they came out the only one I didn't like was spiderman 3 with Tobey Maguire but I love the first two
I wouldn't say Uncle was really a villain more of a henchman for a villain 😂 but he needed money he needed to survive he wasn't like his brother some people choose different routes or stumble upon them but that doesn't necessarily mean you're an evil person I mean as you can see him and Miles had a great Bond when he wasn't doing henchmen stuff and even when he was doing henchman stuff once he figured out it was family he backed off right away that's a good man just trying to put food on the table and a roof over his head some people don't get dealt a lucky hand that's the type of stuff you got to do
"Doc Ock is a lady!" And voiced by the lovely Kathryn Hahn 😉 She has a really fun intro and I love her character design of soft stretchy arms. Prowler (Uncle Aaron) also has great design, and the sound cues that follow him are like asmr to me. Spider-Verse has some excellent characters and I especially love the contrast between the two Peters 🍕 It really is the best Spiderman movie so far. It captures the heart and soul of the hero across 7 (8 if you count Miguel from the post-credit) variations. Can't wait for the sequel.
