A Homesteader said "Goats have a high fertility rate which unfortunately comes with a high mortality rate." He always says when they get sick they go fast. Nature's way of keeping a balance.
Please pray for my daughter, Sarah. She is carrying twin girls and the doctors say one of them will need heart surgery her first week of life (if she makes it through to delivery) . She is at 28 weeks and so far they are both growing at the same rate. 🙏🏻
A depression isn't even the only problem. What comes with a depression can be truly terrifying. They are often accompanied by war, famine, and disease due to the instability caused by the economic destruction. He absolutely nailed it.
Hi I’ve planted roughly 200 fruit and nut trees on my parcel of land, and I sweat through three shirts in a work day, so the laundry does pile up fast. 18 types of avocado, 14 jackfruit trees, 5 breadfruit trees, 4 lychee trees, 20 durian trees, citrus, 11 mangosteen trees… year seven going strong.
If you have decluttering to do, and items that someone might give as a gift, please consider weeding stuff out and donating NOW. That sweater you bought on clearance but never wore or that toy in great condition your child hasn't even looked at in 6 months might make lovely affordable Christmas gifts for someone else with a tight budget.
I'm already at the frugality part... job lost 2 mo ago and now having to already dive into the preps. Please pray 🙏 we are blessed indeed. This is a tough time though, I gotta say. I don't know how we're going to keep the mortgage or lights on. Family member in ICU. Nevertheless, God IS good and I DO believe.
anybody who can't, or won't see what is happening has either been living under a rock, or is deaf, dumb and blind. The past 3 years have been a nightmare for America. Love you Patara for all your information. God bless and Happy Holidays to you and your family.
Ask people in countries that get real sanctions put on them what they would have done a year before it happened to be prepared if they would have had the chance to prepare. When the music stops don't be left standing there with a dumb look on your face.
Back in the old drepression people didn't have credit cards and food stamps to use and today, you may be right that we are in a depression and that people may not see it because people are paying with credit cards food stamps. Imagine today if there was no credit cards or stamps, then of course you will see lines of people at the food bank or even starving.
You are so right. If the govt. wasn't subsidizing rents, cell phones health care, aid for dependent children and school supplies, school breakfast and lunch, you would see where this economy really is. i am not against people having a hard time getting help, but there is no incentive to stop using the help.
Patara, Bless you for speaking the truth and encouraging us to prepare. This granny has been trying to prep but need to do more. Lost my hubby of almost 50 yrs last month and can’t watch the videos you recommended. They are right but don’t have the heart to watch. Working hard to try and get it in gear and start moving again. God bless us all. 🙏
My maternal grandma did her laundry in a wringer washer. Whenever I helped her, which I loved, she was always worried I would catch my hair in the wringer rollers. Never happened, but she fretted nonetheless. She was born in 1904 and was a young mother of 3 during the depression. I learned about saving, reusing, and stocking up from her.
My Grand was born 1900, and I did get my hand caught in the wringer while putting a washcloth thru. She popped that contraption apart and made me soak my hand in turpentine.😂 never felt so loved ❤
I'm in the gym on an aqua massage table listening to you with my earbuds in, and I kept hearing that chicken in the background and I thought it was the person next to me choking.😅😅😅 On a very serious note thank you very much for all that you do for us
Thank you for another great video. I am a nurse working with special needs adults. And if you can’t find grace in this environment, I don’t believe you can. My patients were talking about Christmas and what they asked for was shoes, a coloring book, to see family. A lesson to all of us to be grateful for the little things. Thank you for the continual inspiration in such difficult times. It is definitely go time. Take care and thank you so much for keeping the fire lit under all of us. God bless you and yours
Patara, I thought of you today when I was taking care of my chickens...walked out back to refill their feed and stopped in my tracks. Our patio and behind the garage smelled exactly like a man's deodorant. So much so that I scanned the woods next to the coop and garage for anyone hiding out. Told my husband when he and my daughter got home from hunting, he immediately checked everything, went for his pistol and showed me twice how to use it. Then he asked me when we were going to the range. We live in a rural, tight knit small town in PA Appalachia where everyone knows everyone and you still just never know. Lesson learned about self protection and thank the good Lord you aren't the only one with an amazing husband.
I had a conversation with my son who has 3 kiddos. I said what should I get the grandkids? Mom clothes their growing so fast. I was so impressed he gets it. Thank you Patera your awesome
Hi Patera. I'm a little older than you, and I grew up overseas/stateside (military brat), but I remember when I was little in the 60's early 70's, Christmas gifts were: new underwear, socks, a winter sweater(sometimes handmade), maybe new pj's(handmade) and one or two toys. That was it. I was an only child for six years. Things didn't change when I got older. As an adult, all gifts stopped. I don't understand why folks insist on breaking the bank when it comes to this time of year. Children are overwhelmed with the number of gifts they receive. My parents never had a problem with toys laying around the house, because what we had went into the toy box in our rooms. Yes, some may say, WHAT? How could they do that? Well, it made life a lot simpler and there were no worries about paying the Christmas bill. Parents could focus on whether we had enough to eat each month. Oh and we did celebrate St. Nikolas (I always looked forward to my shoes filled with candy and an orange). 😊 I don't understand why folks make everything so difficult. Maybe I'm just old fashioned and not "with it"😂
I am the blessed grandmother of 11! I started in June and finished in September! Toys of course but also books, hats warm pjs and praise the Lord no credit card debt. I did mostly sales and clerance items but things they wanted and needed. My oldest daughter does something you want, something you need, something to play and something to read. I believe thats how it goes. Still doing the things!! Prayers for everyone!
Kids want your time most of all. Time to listen to you read to them no matter what age, they want you to take time and talk, take time to go outside. I just retired from 35 years of teaching everything from PK to high school(sometimes multiple grades at the same time) in each class, we had morning meetings to get the day started. The number of times I heard children express displeasure in being scheduled all the time is amazing. Consider spending a few holiday dollars on doing experiences at home. Don't be scared your kid didn't get this or that. Stand up, be honest, be open to spending the most valuable gift of all: time to make memories.
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened." Matthew 7:7-8.
I am a knitter and crochet'r and I have been making presents for people all year long... Have seen this coming for a while. Some of these presents have taken me months to make a single one. I hope everyone is getting prepared. Love ya'll lets stay strong. Don't let them kill our hope.
I am a knitter & crochet and am finding red heart yarn very hard to find, especially certain colors.... Seems according to another craft person, the factory was sold and avaibilty of yarn has decreased
I picked up a part-time job (that is highly fulfilling). We we’re paycheck to paycheck before at best, but the reality was every little thing was taking our emergency funds….new dryer, kids go to camp, all of it came out of our savings. I was scared. Now we’ve been able to handle all the expenses and saved up $7000 to add back to our emergency funds.
I just wrote a very bummed out comment but then deleted it because I know I need to just adopt your attitude. We're doing this together and doing the best we can. My young kids pick up on my attitude and sometimes i can get really depressed thinking about how we're going to carry them through all these situations. But i know the solution isn't to stick my head back in the sand, as tempting as it is. Bought myself a bunch of survival books as my Christmas present to myself 😅 Thanks for helping us Patara. I know you're telling us out of love.
I’m not buying Christmas gifts at all this year. My son is 16 and I told him he probably won’t be getting anything. I’m a single parent and it’s a struggle right now.
I got my granddaughter a few books, a few inexpensive toys and winter clothing I bought last year extremely discounted. Now have a years worth of clothes for her next size. Working on further sizes when I find at garage sales or extreme discounts.
Holy Mother of God!! After listening to 15 minutes of the recommended video, i paused, poured myself a stiff bourbon and shared the video with myself so i wouldn't loose it. I'll go back tomorrow morning and watch it in its entirety with a pot of black coffee😮☕️😳 Thanks for the adrenalin rush, Patara! My hair will be on fire Monday (it's smouldering now) as i can as much as i can from the freezer and get my house on order, schedule some maintenance around the house and service my 20 year old Honda. We will all need a stiff upper lip to get through what's headed our way. FYI, my grandmother used her pinkie finger to dig into my 6 month old son to prevent choking. That "boy" is now 51 years old and the dad of my 2 precious college grandchildren! God bless you Patara, James and your family!!❤
Thank you. I am doing the 3 box gift tower for the little people here. There are 4 of them. Bottom box = fun, middle box = to wear, top tier = learn. I will decorate the towers, as snowmen, and elves. Everyone else is getting homemade something. Could be a loaf of bread, some candy, or a crochet scarf or beanie.
Just had our septic tank pumped. I have a lot of stuff for kids and grandkids. Stuff for grandkids is clothes for next summer and beyond, and craft kits to keep them busy. I hit a clearance at walmart, $1 each piece on clothes. Craft kits I've been buying since last January. Finding deals on those. It can be done. Be smart.
In other news... Venezuela wants to "annex" Guyana to help "joe" supply oil. The "noise" is getting closer to home. Something that folks NEED to prep for... keep your property taxes paid.
THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU DO. A FRIEND GAVE MY HUSBAND TWO DEERS, WE PROCESSED IT AND PREPPING LIKE CRAZY. WE FINALLY BROKE DOWN AND TOLD OUR FAMILY MEMBERS THAT WHERE NOT BUYING ANYONE ANYTHING FOR CHRISTMAS THIS YEAR ONLY BUYING FOR THE TWO GRAND BOYS. HOLD ON TO THEIR MONEY AND PREP WITH IT. TIME IS SHORT AND IT SOUNDS CRAZY BUT TIME IS SPEEDING UP. LOVE YOU AND YOUR SWEET FAMILY AND YOU ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED. LOVE FROM MY FAMILY TO YOURS. SENDING LOVE TO ALL YOUR FOLLOWERS GOD BLESS YOU ALL. HAVE A BEAUTIFUL BLESSED WEEKEND AND THANK YOU OUR LORD AND SAVIOR FOR THE RAIN. LOVE AND BLESSINGS FROM GAINESVILLE GA ❤️
I won’t be buying gifts this year I plan on making a Saran wrap ball for my family it’s so much fun!! I allay put a little cash in a change purse as the last gift in it I put lotto tickets change dollar bills candy key chains etc in it. We will have good food and I’m gifting cookies breads fudge and beef jerky I’ve been making!!! My first time making it and it turned out so good. Everyone be blessed and pray for us all 💪🏼💪🏼🙏🙏❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸💯💯
Goats are so curious, and their heads are always in trouble. My daughter was asking her goats, "how did you do that?" I would laugh. They are just like toddlers at any age. Have a great day!!❤😊
I am SO with you on getting out of debt. I've preached and preached to everyone I know, for decades, that the best use of your money is to pay off you house. No bank, anywhere, will pay you as much interest on that amount as you are PAYING in interest on that amount .... EACH MONTH!
My husband drives truck. We're hearing that the freight rates are bottoming out horribly. If my husband isn't rolling we don't get paid. This is the first Christmas in YEARS that we've had to "do" for folks as my husband's long lost son that he hadn't seen in 30yrs found us!! We also got 2 granddaughters in the deal and we're beyond happy that they found us!! Still spending a bit of money that maybe should have gone to necessities has put me a lil out of my comfort zone but we just HAD to spoil our grandbabies on our "first" Christmas!! Our stove has started to go wonky and I know we'll have to have it repaired or replaced very soon and oh my gosh the cost of them now is horrid even on the Black Friday sales.. it's hard, but I KNOW God will provide!!
My husband drives also and I've been trying to help family and friends when I can we don't have credit cards and everything is paid off except the lot and mobile home that we have nothing to brag about almost got it paid off maybe 1 and half years .
We just gifted our son and his wife a stove for their first home. It wasn’t the lowest or highest, but middle of the road in price. $1100 and I was shocked how light and cheap (for lack of a better word) the door felt. They don’t make appliances like they used to.
Hubby just retired..haven't even got first ss check..Daughter has to have gallbladder surgery..hospital wants 2400...before surgery. She has mer her 6,000 out of pocket deductable..we had to help her..I don't know if her rent goes up she won't be able to live or keep her job.Hospital bills will take everything left over...
The first video I ever watched from you was your Jan. ‘23 “Are We Being Set Up?” video. In light of recent news out of China and Europe, I showed it to my husband this morning and it was almost prophetic on how accurate it was. 2024 is going to be a rocky ride.
We have a washer and dryer (maybe 5 years old) plus another set (our old ones) all hooked up in the basement for my husband' mechanic uniforms. We also got another used set someone was replacing but they work - we almost got rid of them but we saved them for us or anyone in the family who made need them. All 3 sets work and my husband can fic all of them himself as a mechanic and with the plethora of youtube videos - just order parts. He fixes all of our appliances and the (free) hot tub himself. I never hear this on anyone's channel but if you hear of someone getting rid of a washer and or dryer and it works just take it and put it in the basement if you can. Dryers are esp. easy to fix - belts and thermostats. Washers not too bad, just watch the videos.
Good morning! Sharing what we’ve been convicted to do this year. This year we are gifting experiences to our nieces/ nephews (&their parents!!). The best use of our (pre-planned & allocated) budget turns out to be an annual membership to their local Zoo. Membership gives them access to so many things behind the scenes that it’s a year-long gift vs the latest & greatest gadget. And, family time together is really the most priceless of gifts!! ❤
People got through the depression helping others, specifically neighbors with ideas and working together to survive. It was definitely more humble back then. Today's society is not the same. 😢
Thanks for your continued encouragement! I have something that I do to save money and time with milk goats. I leave my kids on the does. When the babies get a couple of weeks old, I lock the does up in a separate pen. At first I it's only about 4 hours in the afternoon, then over night as they get older. Then I milk the goats in the morning, leaving just a little milk for the younger babies and turn them all out together for the day. Saves SO much time! I never have to bottle feed the healthy babies. Weak ones that can stay with momma get bottle fed as needed, too. The babies grow so much better, so I get a higher price per pound from the goat buyer for my extra babies. I don't have to buy milk replacer and I only have to milk once a day. It's a win-win!
As a kid our gifts were clothing, puzzles, coloring books n crayons. . In later (adults) yrs Dad said if giving gifts give necessities. . We had a giggling time 1 year n called it a Toilet Paper Party...things like toilet paper, soaps, shampoos, cleaning supplies were given.
Spot on! Since October 30, we gave had to get a new dryer, dishwasher, tires for my husband's truck, over 7000 in car repairs (Thank God for extended warranties) and a new TV. I paid off a 12000 dollar credit card and now working on the rest that are a lot less. Been canning and dehydrating as specials come around. Thank you for all you and James do for us in terms of common sense!
Hospice decided our disabled child on 4L of oxygen didn’t die fast enough. Knowing that they are our primary care givers and only source of support, they are discharging us. 😐 I am so angry and frustrated, I’m beside myself. I’m Jewish, but my brother had it right when he spoke of “the least of these”. G-d is going to have something to say about the way our society treats the most vulnerable.
At least you can wash clothes! My power was out for 2 days caused by old wiring at the power pole and my heat tape was out. So my lines to my washer froze. It's been in the teens and 20s here and just as the electrician got the power back on it started snowing. Got 7 inches since yesterday morning but it turned to rain late this morning. So now it's heavy and slick. Ugh. Thank God I have wood heat or the last 2 days would have been bad. Love n. Idaho even in the cold!
It's hard times, but you are absolutely right. Frugality is a necessity today. That doesn't mean generosity goes out the window, it's how to be creative in being generous and kind to others.
It's why I haven't retired. I do get SS but I put up with this job to finish paying off my car and stocking up. I have no time to put up my own stuff but I have the tools to do that if I ever retire. Not really doing much for the holidays but I am giving money to the food bank and animal food to them too.
I can't forget someone saying your hubby has a resting cop face, and I just love it! I love also seeing your love and respect for each other. God bless y'all!
You guys are great! You should get a still shot from that look at the beginning of the video. The way you look at each other is beautiful! Thank you for all your time and videos! 💕🇺🇸
When I was growing up….many years ago 😊, Christmas was our parents chance to get us new clothes, many of which momma made. We did get one thing specifically for us. We didn’t know any other way.
As if the economic side of things isn't bad enough, we have another huge issue at hand that everyone needs to be aware of and plan accordingly. I've been watching this since it began and have family and friends in areas that are severely being tested. Texas is under siege in my opinion with their energy grid, water and migration all under attack, but it does not stop there. I have been told by a witness who I've known my entire life that he has seen at least 2 plane loads delivered in my quiet, little state that fit the rumors. Last night I watched a video titled Operation Trojan Horse Sitrep that sums up what people have been reporting around the country with evidence. I don't know for sure what the intent behind this is, but I feel very strongly that it is something we all need to be aware of and prepare as much as possible for.
Husbands (and wives, too) learn to be loving, attentive, giving, and accepting from their parents. If it was not shown through their childhood, they would lack it as an adult. It is a learned and emotional skill. It can also fall into a protective skill learned to steer away from the disappointments of life. Many people, male or female, deal with this.
We decided this year that the adults are not doing gifts for each other. We are just buying for the grandkids and my kids are buying for their nieces and nephews. I bought some coloring books, some pencils off the dollar tree and I have a few other little things I’ll make up little goodie bags. It’ll probably cost me less than 10 bucks a kid and then we’re just gonna have some experiences next year like the hands-on museum and bright zoo things like that, they get so much from their other grandparents and family that I feel OK with what I’m giving them and they know that there is more to life than just all the toys and stuff that they get and end up never playing with anyway lol I’ve already got food put back for my brother and for my grandkids and I’ve got lots of items prepped, and jarred just in case Stay safe out there y’all!!
So Im surfing the net looking for an easy bread recipe and stumbled on your channel. I have been binge watching, I love listening to your advice and teaching, thankyou 💕
Look at those babies❤. I'm sitting here in Portland, Oregon with no power on Saturday morning. I'm not sure why . Thank goodness it's warm today . You know there's a nice stillness, but I know we need power. I am grateful.
Wow, I think this is the most serious I've seen you..... I'm paying attention and will watch the video in the morning. Thank you James and Patara for caring about all of us and sharing tough stuff, we need to know what's around the corner-it's coming faster by the day.... God bless all and big hugs. Thanks again! luvya's!
Thank you bunches and bunches...I feel unrest deep in my gut, then God sends you with info..love you and your family, those with fur and without fur. You are His servants for a time such as this.Hugs, , more hugs
During the year I bought ingredients to make cookies for platters of Christmas Cookies as gifts to friends and my neighbors and our Police Buddies that help us! Merry Christmas Everyone! Keep your Faith in Christ❤
I know exactly what you mean. I was the provider and caretaker for my loved one, my cat. He had to be put to sleep in October. Now I have no one to love who loves me back and no one to take care of.
I made the announcement last year that we were all pulling back on gifts, and gifts would only be things they needed or that I had made. My sons were fine with that. I made them wool quilts out of thrift store wool sweaters. You don't need any batting. They love them. I baked a lot of their favorites and gave them as gifts. This year, I started gathering things to put into like a care package for each one of them. I started the gathering right after last Christmas. Things that they need so they don't have to spend money on them themselves. Things like hygiene products, or nice flannel shirts that had been on clearance. Socks, underwear, things for their kitchens like measuring cups. Last year one of my sons who likes to cook and bake asked me for copies of all my recipes. I did that for him. I found a nice wooden recipe box at a thrift store, and I painted it to match his apartment kitchen. When my other sons saw what I had given to him they said they wanted the same so I've been doing that for them this year as well. It's going to be difficult for me because two of my boys won't be able to be home for Christmas, but I have my other three. I've been trying to look at it that it just makes less work for me, but of course that isn't really making me feel any better but I am determined to make it a beautiful Christmas.
We’re getting some pretty major home repairs done now so everything is in good working order. Fixing several small things before they become big issues. Reorganizing the supplies so it’s easier to manage and use. Getting rid of excess stuff that is taking up space and collecting dust. It’s difficult to let go of mementos but we need the space and i have to reduce the upkeep on unnecessary stuff. It’s difficult to get everything done we need to do but I do my best. Love seeing your adorable little goats!
Hi Patara. I just watched the video that you shared with us...I watch aii of your videos and I enjoy them very much so thank you for all you do...I pray for you and your family, and please take care of yourself...love you
You need an expectorant to get those lungs clear. Do what is right for you but look at a basic mucinex or basic Guaifenesin to start. Don't let that junk build.
I drove through your neck of the woods on Friday, from Raleigh, NC to Denton, TX. I wish we knew each other better so we could have visited. The drive between Asheville to Knoxville on I 25 was so interesting and beautiful! I went to visit my 24 yr. old daughter. We made a big point to shop for used books before AI changes information. We also visited Joel Salatin’s farm in VA. If you ever get to South Boston, VA, eat at the Depot Grill. It was wonderful!
