Many thanks again, Vehix411!! Own a 2005 BMW Dinan tuned 545, with 13,000 miles on her thus far. My oil change light was on and I just recently changed the oil (only 1K miles ago at 12,000), so had to reset that annoying SERVICE message showing up both under the speedo and I-Drive menu areas. Followed your steps to the "T" and resetted my oil service indicator to now read 15,000 miles. Confirmed SERVICE message disappeared when I restarted ignition. Awesome. Saved over $230 with this. Replaced my microfilters for $40 instead of the $170 the dealer wanted and just reset the brake fluid which really does not have to be replaced every 2 years.

Just resetted my oil indicator reading, as it wasn't time to perform another oil change with only 2K of mileage on expensive graphic oil no less. Should be able to get 5,000 miles easy with graphite oil, so a few more months of driving before my next oil change! In the meantime, thanks to your helpful video here, I don't have to look at the annoying service indicator due message Everytime I start the car!

Hi there, I just ran through the sequence you demonstrated with success. I have a 2004 E60 545i. Like the other user who said he came across other icons, I too strayed into the other menu, the one where you can show vehicle temp etc etc. I persisted with your instruction though and managed to reset all the options where I had already completed the work. Nice to know though that the brakes have not been replaced and still require changing, and yet the reset does not work or allow me to override what is a legitimate warning to me. Once I change the pads though I'm happy that I can just reset the computer myself. Thanks for the video.

Reset what I needed to and still have the service due triangle.. How do I get rid of the triangle?

As someone who took way too long to figure this out, if you find a yellow exclamation mark where the triangle is supposed to be when the ignition is on, shut the door. Otherwise you can’t toggle the reset features

I just did the pads today on my 2005 BMW 525i with sports package. I tried what your video said and my experience was different only slightly. I'll detail. 1)Turn ignition on but don't start. 2)Wait for errors and notices to settle. 3)Hold in reset post by speedo until triangle appears (about 5 secs) 4) using same button, cycle through each icon (just like your video) 5) find the one you want to reset and hold it in until "reset?" appears then release. 6) hold it in again until it clears miles.

Thank God for You Tube.On the 2005 its all the same but when u do the pads and get to reset u have to keep it pressed until u get to go orange.U could reset all the others like the video.

further notes: Don't hit the post again immediately or it will cancel your reset, let it sit for about a second or two before you start cycling through the icons again. Everything was similar to what you posted except no need to use the "check" button on the turn signal stalk for my car. Thanks for your video, I wouldn't have known to try this sequence without you. Please verify my findings on another E60

My 2007 BMW 530xi doesn't go into RESET MODE only at ON BOARD COMPUTER HIDDEN MENU. Which I was able to "UNLOCK' at 19.00 with sum of 01.01 code. But I still can go into RESET MENU

just did it on 535d e60 2008: did not use check button, only km reset button on the left of the dashboard. Had to reset rear brake reset that I had not done since I had replaced the pads. 2500 km passed due on the dash but it worked.

I'm trying to get my oil service light reset on my 2007 525i. I did everything in this video, but I don't get the service menu at all. The yellow triangle comes up and if I keep holding the reset button it takes me into a German menu. Any advice?

@mlgvt48 I agree it does save you a lot of money. However, I HIGHLY recommend replacing your brake fluid every two years. It's usually no more than a $30 job and is a no-brainer difficulty-wise. Just my two cents.

Had to replace sensor to have it work,, otherwise thanks this was most helpufl.

For those of you who continue to have the brake light stay on.....and it displays a (-) negative number on miles left in system. What happened is you moved or removed the brake sensor on the front left tire. ONce you remove you have to replace,, thats how they make it. Than you can follow the instructions above X 3.. sometimes it takes a few consecutive..

U don't have to go to the date...you can just push and hold to get it.

Remember folks, you vehicle stores date and times of all resets. And a dealer can pull up ALL info. So do the work in conjunction w/ the resets

@baulert1 Not sure why you HIGHLY recommend it? It will cost me about $100 and very few cars require this. Brake hydraulics are a closed system.

if cable removed form battery then 4x4 traction warning comes and steering warning both in yellow, , that goes away soon when driving.

What about the e brake light , how do you get it off?

@mudantos2 You dont get it. People change oil at any mechanic for $50 or $100 instead of at BMW dealer for $250. same wth breaks etc, the light will be still on since most mechanic wont bother reseting ... so you do it yourself.

Does the car select next service interval automatically? it came up with 15,000?
