The transition bin is brilliant. I just made one this week for my husband's clothes because I had an adorable ikea basket that I didn't have a planned purpose for and I was tired of picking my husband's pants off the floor and rehanging them. I gotta make one for myself.

Try this: don't do anything. No cleaning, no cooking, no washing dishes, clothes or anything else. Just before it reeks, go stay at a b&b or motel & see how long it takes him to clean it up because you're not going home til he does & if he doesn't it's a deal breaker. You want a partner not a child. (Forget the passive-aggressive anger: do something about it.)
