You are a gem. I live in the suburbs of New Orleans. No wilderness. Small lot. Back in 2020 I started storing. That has dwindled to paper products. If I grow anything in my backyard, it will be taken. If (when) the grid goes down I’m going to die of heat stroke anyway. God can have me. But he needs the holy young like you! You will be a leader in the era, God willing.

If it ever came to it I would want to ride it out with Father…..I’ll bring the beans and he provides the food for my soul…..this is exactly the solid clergyman we need in our church…..I’m worried about some of the foolishness happening in big Church today but always enjoy being evangelized by Fr. I am old and frail and I am not 100% and I can’t really survive by myself. I could have help of course. But I lived in the 50s when we had fallout shelters back in the day. I didn’t have one but my feeling for all these years is God is in control and we can do what we can do--but if it’s our expiration date on one day then it is!! Something else will get me if that doesn’t. That’s how I think about it. But I love love love watching your videos. 🙏👍🧡🔥 And I think if I was a young mom again with a bunch of kids, I would do some of this stuff, but I’m not in control only God really is. Thank you.

Father, make sure you store the rice and beans correctly. You can leave on the freezer for 3 days to kill any bug, wait couple of days to make sure is dry and get either some oxigen absorbers or vacuum seal them and put some food grade desiccant and you will store for years to come. We love ❤️ you.

I love this! My wife is down in Del Rio for a week. She thought I might like this. I have subscribed to your channel. You can split a piece of wood-chip off a piece of the wood- tie the wedges of wood back together bound withe wire to make a rocket stove. Sometimes naturally hollowed logs are hard to find even for a man of the cloth. Of course thanks for the readings too. Vivo Christo Rey (my Latin is no good)

A metal rocket stove would be a great addition to your cabin, Fr. Mark. And maybe soak the beans overnight (that's a thing, for real) and then cook. ... Loved this!! If we're ever all in an off grid situation, I'm going to think about all of us cooking and praising God in our little corners of the world. In some ways, it'd be an incredible time-out of the craziness and business that occupies many of us. .... Where I work I call in patients and often they wish I weren't so quick to call them in because they've actually had opportunity to read a page or two of a book which felt like a LUXURY to them. We're so, so busy and occupied! It's like a super power to slow things down. God bless all here!!

I had to laugh Father, when you said that you didn't read the instructions on how to long to cook the beans. One of my favourite quips is, 'if all else fails, read the instructions' I do think though, that dried veggies should be soaked before cooking.

Great video and advice Father! I tell family members to pray and stay stocked up Re rice. From what I read jasmine and basmati rice are best for long term storage. Whether you're in church or at camp you always give good advice. God bless and keep the vids coming.

Hey Fr. I'd love to go bushcrafting with you sometime.
