Hi there 😊 I hope you are well. Firstly this is a fantastic tutorial! The end result is absolutely beautiful. I tried out making this today, i got the cup part done, and as my clay is drying it is cracking horribly. I Googled it and it says it's quite normal for air dry clay because it shrinks. Do you have any advice on how to minimize the cracking please? I'd be willing to start again from scratch if I knew how to stop this from happening again. Looking forward to your response 😁😁😁

Most air-dry clays will crack unfortunately, but it can be fixed.😅 To fix a crack, moisten it with water. Fill in the gap with a little piece of fresh clay and smooth it out with your fingers afterward. Let the clay dry in a cooler area. Hope this helps! The brand that I normally use is DAS Modelling Clay. This clay doesn’t crack or hardly cracks when it dries.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately my first attempt literally fell to pieces. So I got the clay you suggested and I am going to try again. Would it be helpful to rough up the plastic cup with some sandpaper before applying the clay so that it sticks better?

My son was so happy when the video came out because he was making the goblet of fire for his school project. Amazing how you have created this and easy to follow. We are at the painting stage. Do you wait till the black paint is dry and then add the brown all over? Once the brown dries add the gold to the selected spots? Thank you
