I'm on my 15th try and still being asked to do it again. I've done it just under 2 minutes and a little over 2 minutes and no matter what it doesn't work. When I tried yesterday it worked on the first try but for some reason or another when I went in my profile to look there were 2 accounts for the same business. No clue how that happened so I simply deleted them both and started all over today from scratch and this is where I am at trying over and over again with same results. So frustrating.
Yikes. That sounds like a nightmare. I found that I couldn't get it to work at the 2 minute mark. I had to get it under 1 minute for mine to take. Another suggestion is to use an older device that records video in lower quality. This will make for a smaller filesize, and may be more likely to work.
@@WhitesparkCa Thanks for the tips. I wrote to google help and they are assisting me. Turns out I am not allowed to have 2 businesses at the same address. Currently have Boomerangs By Vic and was trying to add Vic's Self Storage. They said I would have to delete Boomerangs By Vic. I was reluctant at first but I am slowly transitioning out of my boomerang business so I went ahead and deleted it. They said once it does not show on google maps they will then approve Vic's Self Storage. Still not sure if this is why my uploads didn't work but I am at least one step closer.
I had a similar experience too. I had to walk fast outside from the street view, show other businesses, show the building and address, RUN up the stairs to the door with the same signage, unlock the door, and show business documents related to the business. ✅ Verified!
How can we do that if we have an online business and home office in an area with no businesses around and in nature ? Do they publish this video on the google business profile ?
I need to buy you a beer as i was able to get through the process easily after your step by step process. Your tips are way better than other ones on youtube. Cheers to you !!
Thanks Darren! From Barcelona, Catalonia, a very cordial greeting. Very good work! You are a great help. I had an experience about 3 years ago with a client and we had to make a live video with three parties: client, Google and myself. We were lucky and after 4 or 5 days it was operational again. I have already "borrowed" the document... 😋 Thank you!
Awesome video as always. Feel like during Covid was the best time to push the Google Business Profile Boundaries. I have to say the BG audio in the video was a bit hypnotic. Reminded me of my youth sitting in a Planitarium waiting for Pink Floyd with my Wacky Tobaccy friends. 😏
Haha glad to hear my verification video took you back to the good ol' days! Here's the checklist if you need it! docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Y-2qWgbl8fXSSoPWn7K7_9rym8qywBGMYuexuFMVe-c/edit?usp=sharing
Hi Darren, that was super helpful, working to get re-verified after an address change. It's been painful to say the least. This video was super helpful and I would love a copy of the checklist you created. Thanks for posting all of this!
Great video Darren! Very helpful. Would love a copy of the checklist. Also, what are your recommendations for Realtors? Office address or home address? This is always so confusing, especially since most Realtors don’t have address proof for their home. Thanks for your help!
Google has a filter on local results where multiple businesses at the same address with the same primary category will get filtered out. Only 1 is likely to rank well. So, it's always better if realtors can break away from that filter by using their home address and not showing the address on Google. This is especially helpful and valuable if they live in the same area that they tend to work in. Here's the checklist: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Y-2qWgbl8fXSSoPWn7K7_9rym8qywBGMYuexuFMVe-c/edit?usp=sharing
Thank you so much for this video! I FINALLY got my verification after running up my steep, 45% grade driveway 5 times... on this attempt. I changed all the camera settings on my iPhone to the lowest quality and kept the video under 1 minute.
Thank you Darren. Exactly what I needed. Was logged into a client's GBP because Google had 'updated' and changed the address. Lol. It asked me to reverify and only provided this video option. Sent instructions to the client to make this video for me to upload.
This is an awesome video, thanks Darren! You made learning about the painful Google video verification process fun. Would love the checklist because I am sure it will come in handy 🙂
Making learning about local SEO fun is our goal! That's what it's all about. Thank you for your comment! Here's the checklist! docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Y-2qWgbl8fXSSoPWn7K7_9rym8qywBGMYuexuFMVe-c/edit?usp=sharing
im sorry but this is absolutely ridiculous . this method of verification is a joke. the fact this is the only option makes me want to give up and go work for walmart
This was super informative! I ran into issues with a Google My Business Profile and accidentally got the business unverified. I have been emailing back and forth with google support to no avail. The only issue that remains for me (aside from verifying the account with video) is my service area is the whole of the United States, which does not coincide with the Google guidelines. We actually do travel all across the US to our clients, so I'm wondering if you have any insight on that particular issue? Thanks for the great video and the handy checklist!
Thank you for your thorough video! We successfully verified over three months ago. I do have a question. What address should be on your Google profile? The one your LLC is under or the location you run the business out of? Right now it's where we run the business out of in Marietta, but its not our home office that is Woodstock. We are wondering if these two different addresses being out there on the internet is getting us unverified.
You should use the address you operate out of. If you don’t serve customers at that address, then you should remove your address from your profile to be within Google’s guidelines, but many people report a rankings drop when they remove the address, so it could be a situation for you where “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it”
I hope my messages helps someone, I recently got this problem and i followed the steps in the video but i also talked while filming explaining what i was doing. My business is located on the 6th floor head to do some running 😅 video was 2 minutes and 20 second long and it uploaded no problem and i was verified 10 seconds after submitting the video. Hope it stays that way from now on. Thank you Whitesparks for sharing this toturial it rly helped 😁
Yes! I actually had the same question. I am not certain, but I think the AI that reviews these videos ignores the audio. But, I made sure to narrate it anyway to explain what I was showing just in case. Hope this helps!
Hey Darren, I have an off topic question! Does the Whitespark GBP manager have an option to schedule posts or photo / video uploads? I cannot find anything about it. Thanks!
Great video, as always. I am in the process of changing locations to be closer to my target area. I leased an office space (a closet with a window) since I am 100% a serviced based business would I be better to show my wrapped truck and equipment or the sparce office space? To get to the office space I have to unlock a front door to get to my actual office which is also locked. Additionally, I have a mailbox for the space with the address printed on the front that I could also show if I'm better to focus on the truck.
Hi, thanks a lot for this video! Super helpful :) I tried already more than 10 times, but will try with 'unlocking the door' on the street level now. The problem is my apartment is on the 6th floor, and there is no way to get upstairs so quickly. Should I just have my laptop with me and show things right there in the corridor floor? haha, what a ridiculous problem to have :)
Similar situation here for me but I have plenty of time. I have tried over 15 times today and several yesterday. Kept the video just under 2 minutes as well with no success.
How can we manage this in an office building? Traveling from the street to the 17th floor via elevator will take some time, and we should consider the possibility of losing connection while inside the elevator.
The only option to this is bypassing it. Same was the situation that got me suspended. I Appealed for reinstatement and verication many times to no avail. I still remember I got mine fixed by XSOLVE.1 on
This seems like mission impossible. I wish there was pause button. I'm in an office building. How can I record the street, waiting to take an elevator, get into the elevator to a certain floor, then go down the end of the hallway into the unit all in one continuous video? Its not enough time and the video would get cut off by the time i enter the building. How would you go about his? Any recommendations would be super helpful, thank you
Yep. This is a common problem. If video verification is your only option, and you can’t instantly transport yourself from the street to your office door, then you should contact Google support and request a “live verification call”. This will be a video call where show all the same things via a live call with a Google support agent. Use this contact form: support.google.com/business/gethelp
This is a great question. One I have wondered as well. I have heard that Google doesn’t care about the narration, but I like to narrate just in case a human looks at the video. I want to be able to explain what I’m showing.
Thanks for your input, I have a question. My profile is verified properly, but I would like to add extra keywords in front of my business name, either separated by a hyphen or in brackets, to improve ranking. Is this possible, or would it be against the guidelines? I've noticed others doing this and would appreciate your guidance.
My business is located on the 15th floor of an office building. Phones do not work inside the elevator. Any suggestions? I cannot shoot outside and through our suite in less than 2 minutes.
The only option to this is bypassing it. Same was the situation that got me suspended. I Appealed for reinstatement and verication many times to no avail. I still remember I got mine fixed by XSOLVE.1 on
Do i have to provide commentary while recording the video? Can I show front entrance and walk in through side door of the house or it has to be entered through the front?
This was very helpful, thank you Darren! One question I have is do I have is does it have to be my voice explaining the items, or can it be someone on my team? Thank you!
I doubt Google knows what your voice sounds like, so I don't see why someone on your team wouldn't be able to do it (as long as they are logged into the Google account that owns the GBP)
Awesome checklist Darren! What if you are a Digital Marketing Agency that also provides on-site photography and videography. Could that be an exception to qualify for a GBP? I am Verified but stuck on processing so my GMB profile is not visible. Thanks!
when i follow what you have done i record the street and everything to do with my business in under 2 minutes i press the big red button to stop the video and submit it ,but when i press the big red buton the timer goes back to 0.00 and starts all over again and keeps doing it
The only option to this is bypassing it. Same was the situation that got me suspended. I Appealed for reinstatement and verication many times to no avail. I still remember I got mine fixed by XSOLVE.1 on
Mate this is awesome, tried so many times and couldnt upload a video, finally got it all completed and sent but only after getting it right down to 1:05 but uploaded and i think i was instantly verified which seems strange but very happy to have access again. Thanks again for this video!
Hey Darren, love your work. We have been having the exact same video verification dramas. It turns out that if you just keep going with it until you have exhausted all your options, eventually Google will give you a call verification option. I'd love the spread sheet you put together.
Hey! Thank you. Can you explain what happened in your case to eventually get the phone verification option? Here’s the spreadsheet: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Y-2qWgbl8fXSSoPWn7K7_9rym8qywBGMYuexuFMVe-c
Just as I said. You have to keep going until you exhaust all of your video verification attempts, and Google will then give you a live video verification call option, where a Google Service Person will get on a call with you as you share your video with them. m We have had that happen a couple of times now with clients. @@healingcuddletherapy5770
I am running into the same exact problem with a client that is a remodeling company. But they also have a duplicate listing. I have access to both and have tried the video verification once and did not work. They have it set up to show their address but it's a showroom that also doubles as storage for all of their tools and such. Also, their local citations have an old address, and we need to re verify it with the new address. Do we submit another video but with more info like marketing materials, business cards, opening the shop door, etc. Or do we remove the duplicate listing and try to re verify? We picked up a mess that someone else left our client before us 😅
I have branches nationwide, and some of them are too far for me to reach., and I don't want to hand over Google account login details to employees for them to perform Google Business video verification because my email contains many confidential and sensitive communications. Is there any other method available?

Hi Darren, Happy holidays from New Mexico. As usual, very helpful content. I would love to get a copy of your video verification checklist; I have a hunch it will get lots of use in 2024.
Do you happen to have any insight or advice for a business that is in a large office building? I am sure it will take longer than 2 minutes to film the outside, get to the elevator, get up to the 28th floor in the elevator, unlock the door and show proof of the business. I would love any advice please!
Yeah, that was one of the reasons we got unverified. Our developers set a huge and unusual service area. Tripped some flags at Google. I have been trying to fix it, but still pending! Here's the checklist! docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Y-2qWgbl8fXSSoPWn7K7_9rym8qywBGMYuexuFMVe-c/edit?usp=sharing
Thanks for the video! But how will this work for a business that provides service in more than 100 locations throughout the US? We have our employees who provide the service in each location but we don't have physical locations there. Can you let me know how to do this video verification in this situation? Thanks
Oh boy. Good luck with that. You could try getting bulk verification, but Google doesn't usually give that for businesses without physical locations. Your only way through is to have those employees do it themselves, one by one. Maybe this checklist will help guide them: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Y-2qWgbl8fXSSoPWn7K7_9rym8qywBGMYuexuFMVe-c/edit?usp=sharing
@@WhitesparkCa that's what I meant Darren. I'm wondering if every employee does that same video, technically it should work, right? After all, Google is not expecting to see actual offices in each location of a service area business. Or is it?
@olegdonets7988 Google expects to see the street, building, and address that the business is verifying at for a service area business. But you can also get away with a branded vehicle. You are expected to unlock a building/door or vehicle in your video. Even if it’s a home, as was the case in my video.
Can you help me? When I search the name it is saying, not publically visible. Though I submitted the video twice. I tried contacting under 'which business do you need help with? They show verified green tick ?
This means your business profile is shadow ban. Same was the situation that got me suspended. I Appealed for reinstatement and verication many times to no avail. I still remember I got mine fixed by XSOLVE.1 on
I have a question Darren, I want to make a google business profile, but I don't have a office or a physical location, so for the business video, what am i suppose to do?
Guys I found a way to that ! I had the same issue with video verification opening a new business on Google and one day I decided to delete the business account and reopen it, but by accident I opened the business account with my private email that I’ve had for many years and it worked straight away I didn’t have to do any verification. So maybe to avoid this problem if you can open a Google businesses with an existing email or open a new email but use it for a bit before creating a business. Not sure if it will work for everyone but it did for me!
Darren, thank you for this. We are opening a Yoga Studio, we have our location and have a 10 year lease that is active but we are building out until Sept. Is there a way we can still get verified, as we are running our business with classes, events and retreats in the meantime at other locations ? thank you

Yes, you can definitely create a Google Business Profile for a towing business. As a service area business, you should hide your address on your profile, though.
A REALLY INFORMATIVE video - a 'real life' example - soooo helpful! Thank you for compiling and sharing the Google Business Profile Video Verification Checklist as well 🙂
