I hate to say it and it’s hard to admit that Qatar is the greatest World Cup. So many upsets. All the continents showed up. Before that, European countries were dominating. All the games were exciting to watch. Americans were always saying that soccer/football is boring to watch. That Qatar World Cup got them on their feet screaming. Not only the Nets. He's bigger than quite a good portion of the entire NBA AND NFL. The US media just loves hyping their own sports as the "biggest" in the world, when in reality, Football is the most popular by quite a gigantic margin (in fact, it's as popular as the next 3 - Cricket, Basketball, Field Hockey- after it combined). The total viewership of the World Cup final was at roughly 2 billion people (while 5.4 billion individuals watched the World Cup in total), and Mbappé made himself known through his performance. Even during this game, he received a standing ovation from the Americans there. So there 😉.

But there are lots more teams and more top leagues, so there're more chances to climb to the top. Like Haaland from a random club to Salzburg to Dortmund now to the best team in Man City. While Basketball players only have one really top league, and much harder entry. If you can't be drafted to NBA before 22, you're pretty much done. I saw the statistics only like couple thousands humans ever played in NBA since its inception, including guys who only played once. So it's much smaller gate to enter the top elites in basketball than in football/soccer
