This blew up in the last few hours! Hey Dodgers crew! How y'all doing? Hope y'all are ready for this scorching hot news from the baseball world!
Our team's already stacked with stars in multiple positions, but a trade proposal from Bleacher Report might just add another one to our roster, the Miami Marlins' centerfielder.
If the Dodgers wanna amp up their game, this is it! The potential player is Jazz Chisholm Jr, and he'd undoubtedly be a stellar addition to our squad. And let's face it, you can never have too many shining stars on our team, right?
Chisholm, who was an All-Star in 2022, can play both centerfield and second base when he's fit. But, as I mentioned, when he's fit. Health concerns have been an issue, as he played in only 59% of Miami's games between 2021 and 2023.
It's worth noting that Chisholm sent one out of the park against Dodgers' pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto in LA's 8-2 win on May 7.
Right now, Dodgers have James Outman and Andy Pages sharing the centerfield spot. Chisholm's arrival could potentially replace Gavin Lux, who's currently struggling at the plate.
According to the grapevine, Dodgers would be sending catcher Dalton Rushing, our top prospect, and left-handed pitcher Maddux Bruns, the team's 14th best prospect, to the Marlins in exchange for Chisholm.
With Will Smith locked in as catcher long-term after signing a 10-year, $140 million extension in March, Rushing could be a valuable trading piece for the Dodgers. He's our top prospect and MLB Pipeline's 71st best prospect. Rushing's batting .290 with a .963 OPS in Double-A Tulsa this year.
With Pages making waves, Dodgers would likely slot Chisholm in at second base. Lux is hitting just .191 this year with one home run. Despite Lux's struggles, Dodgers still boast the league's most productive offense.
Marlins have already hinted at their trade intentions, as Marlins' president of baseball operations, Peter Bendix, made it clear they're focused on the team's future, given their unlikely playoff chances this year. When asked if Chisholm would stay with the Marlins till season end, Bendix said he doesn't know.
Chisholm, at 26, signed a one-year, $2.6 million deal after losing an arbitration case. With two more years of arbitration remaining, the best fits for Chisholm are teams looking to win now and in the future, with needs at center field or second base.
So, what do y'all think about this potential trade? Do you reckon Chisholm would be a big addition to the Dodgers?
