Roberta is so good at making details a priority. Both of you are good at never saying “oh that’s good enough “. I am a person that when I repair something I do so it is as good or ether than new.
I have watched your channel from way back when you were working on your shipping container. But I have to say I really enjoy this boat restore. Due to such tight spaces you guys are folding and contorting yourself into a pretzel. No need for yoga classes , I am 74 years old and just don't remember when I was that flexible. Your dedication and always up beat attitude make me smile. Keep up the good work and I look forward to the day you set sail for the open ocean.
Well, I randomly happened upon your channel about two weeks ago, started watching, and I've been binging ever since. Now I've come to the last episode and I have to say you have me hooked. I really love watching you two go through all the trials and tribulations of refitting your boat, but what I appreciate most of all is that you're not only doing the work that has to be done, you're taking the time to do the work that should be done as well. I grew up helping a father that was a marine mechanic, so not only am I impressed with the work you're doing, but with the fact that you're willing to do so much of it yourself, even if it is for the first time. Removing the oil filled stern tube was the best example so far of being willing to dive into the unknown to see what would come out the other side. I am not one of those viewers who is urging you to put the boat back in the water and hoist the sails. I'd much rather you find all the things that you'd like to replace, repair, or refine first and then, and only then, re-splash the boat and get the heck out of that marina. Thank you for entertaining me as much as you have over these past two weeks and I will now look forward to Monday's for the first time in a long time!!
Every time I watch you two I am more and more impressed. You both work hard as a team and individually. You both share an equal part of the work and you are kind to one another. Well done on completing another project on your boat. Just that one project will help you to have many trouble free years with your boat. Well done Duca and Roberta. Well done.
You are very welcome both of you. I can’t wait to see the boat and the smile on Roberta’s face when you are all finished and can go do some serious sailing.
The prep work you put into everything you do is admirable. I know I don't have the patience 🤣 this was a super satisfying video. See you next Monday! ⛵
I commend you both on not getting swept up in the excitement of having the boat back on the water and still doing a very thorough job on the remaining aspects. This will be well worthwhile in the long run and its looking better than I could have ever imagined.
It's nice to see the two of you working hard together and in good humor. Stay this way! :-) All the best to both. Remain strong, together and embracing the challenges w/ an open heart.
Your attention to detail and your overall mantra of "do it once, do it well" is always refreshing👍👍👍 There are a couple of other sailing channels I follow (which I also enjoy immensely BTW) however everything is always done half arsed, lazily and in a rush and it is so frustrating to witness - They should drop by into your channel to see how things should be done - You guys will be sailing stress and problem free for a very long time, bravo !!!!
I’m impressed that you acknowledge your limitations when you stated that you’re having experienced technicians install the engine. You’ve undertaken so many challenging projects but even with both of your backgrounds in engineering you know when it’s prudent to let experienced personnel handle the installation of critical components.
@@merlars that’s surprising then. They don’t seem to be very mechanically inclined . I’m not hating I just have never seen just the two of them doing much besides taking stuff apart. Usually they have to have help with everything technical. But now I know they have a degree.
Nothing more satisfying than a beautiful bright white paint job! Another lovely video, I particularly enjoyed the cinematography and editing of this video as well.
Hi guys!! I've missed your last few episodes. Not only is the old boat looking superb but I detect a new on camera confidence in lovely Roberta and greater humility in Duca. Love it. Happy Valentine's Day. 💖☺️💪
and be careful of the lights you use, a 100 watt bulb can ignite acetone. The man it happened to says you will never forget the sound of your own ears burning.
Been working on boats and building then for a long time and using that haven't had any problems... it's not like your putting it in a Terry cloth and huffing it
Thanks a lot for walking us through your great Life project! It has been a great pleasure to follow you so far and we can’t wait to see you leasing for the great adventure
I'm so excited to see the new engine. We are in a cold weather, with snow, snow, and more snow. So it's nice to see you guys working hard and making progress.
I'm near Chicago where it's been sub zero and snowing for days, seeing those 2 in summer clothes hurts!! But it's also a pleasant reminder to us Northern hemisphere folk that summer is on her way back!
You two do a fantastic job at everything you do..”do it once, do it right!” It helps that you’re both a little bit of contortionists as well! Duca, I hope you realize what a fortunate man you are to have such a wonderful helpmate along side of you! Be of good cheer...blessings to you both.
I have never seen a boat get the kind of attention to detail and love you are giving it. EVERYTHING you have done was done to perfection. So cool to see young people pay this kind of attention to detail. It is a rare trait these days for sure.
I must love watching you two. Because I just spent 22 min. of watching you sand and use a paint brush. That was more fun than watching concrete dry lol. Funny.
I am amazed at how well you work together. You are both very particular and you still trust the other, even though neither of you are experts. You make mistakes and learn from them together. I love that
Every week you just amaze us on all the detail and meticulous work you are doing on your sailboat. We are getting so excited week after week to when you can re-splash and start sailing.
I enjoy his rambling, but Roberta really had the whip out in this episode 🤣 I could listen to Duca and Roberta all day, such a lovely couple, their cute mispronunciations are getting less and less though.
I must comment. You guys brought me back to when my family (wife, 2sons) and i restored our 65' Owens. I admire you both for doing a class A number 1 job of it like we did. I look forward to the day you guys set sail for the world. Thank you for all the teachings that you give to all of us doing this kind of work. I'll keep watching.
It is a pity that after all these troubles, you will have to cover that bay with an engine! Go enginless: no mechanical troubles, no smell, no noise. I am joking but........Really a beautiful little ocean going ship.
What are the chances your next boat will be a "Move-in Ready" boat? The experiences you're collecting are and will be worth its weight in gold...looking fantastic.
It looks amazing guys, great job! I feel I could sleep on that compartment so shinny and bright! And it’s huge, it can fit both of you. Congrats! You rock 🤘
Who does not know your channel cannot know how watching an engine room beeing refreshed can be... refreshing ! Your engine will be in one of the best place of the boat and then will do the job like a happy cherished work-horse !!! (See 'shire' horse)
I know nothing about boats but I have to say I am very impressed with the work you are doing, and the skills you are finding, I shall have to look at your videos from Number one I think.
Duca has a serious addiction. It needs treatment now. He needs to join S.A.-Sikkaflex Anonymous. You know it is serious when he wants to paint his engine room in Sikkaflex. Some people just become dependent on the ability to waterproof.
My friend hooked me up on this stuff. It starts slowly, one day we were fixing some screw holes and I have never felt like this before. Then I got my own "kit". After Sikkaflexing all my screws I was craving for more... so I increased the dose, started applying it to flanges and sealing up gaps. After some time I realized it is ruining my live. I sold all my equipment to get even more Sikkaflex. Lost all my social contacts. I also tried different sealants - I have tried them all, but none of them had this kind of punch Sikkaflex had. Say "NO" to sealant!
Congratulations you two..!! That's a really beautiful job on the engine room, she looks great..!! Most entertaining video - and your English turn of phrase is fabulous..!! Well done.
They've already seen that part =Duca stop rambling and get the job done!!! All instructions given by Roberta are given with a loving smile (she has the patience of a saint....relationship lessons for some 😀
I like your new "beginning" on each episode. It also looks like "The Never Sail" will soon be sailing - quality takes a little longer, I'd tell the "haters and doubters".
Awesome attention to detail. You two probably have a better knowledge and understanding of your boat than most sailors. In future will be really valuable with gault finding and maintenance. Well done
Great show, I'm doing the same type of work except in a 60 year old overweight body. It pains me to watch the easy and flexibility you guys crawl around the bilge.
Perfect. Live and sail in it a bit first. Only way to discover little, subtle design features that make a big difference in functionality... Oops, I interchanged house with cabin. That said, I wouldn't make any design changes to the interior of the boat until its been well lived in.
I haven't dropped in for a long time. Now I see you have the engine out and are repainting the engine bay (room). I am starting to wonder if you even want to go sailing.
You guys work very well together. Is a pleasure seeing what you have done. We have snow here in Bryan, Texas I wish I could sent you a picture. Best wishes, Raul and Joan Pendas
Owned many direct and V-Drive boats and done a few shaft seals over the years. To keep your brand new shaft seal happy; check your engine, transmission, drive shaft alignment every 50 hours for the first 200 hours. After that every 5 years is plenty.
From engine room to dining room? You're doing a great job! Odd waited a whole lifetime for someone to find her and love her like the two of you. Now all three of you are happy. It's very cool.
