Looks good enough to sell. I especially like the choice of making the lid. Big time SMART !

Nice idea. We always put ours on the ground. I made my husband watch he said that's a great idea. So I'm hoping my new burn barrel will be like yours or close. We burn our trash and since we have close recycling we recycle what won't burn. Thanks for sharing buddy.

You should have used 00 buck on the first barrel... Shoot lower, so it gets more air under it :) (Continues watching the video...)

I wondered how long that pretty green paint would last. Not as long as I thought it would! Lol. My first introduction to burning household garbage came when I was just out of college and working in a hospital. I grew up in a area that had weekly garbage collection and recycling. They were so aggressive in the recycling program that they would actually fine you if you put your recycling items in the trash. All cardboard, tin & aluminum cans, glass and plastics were to be recycled and they meant it. If the garbage men saw them in your trash cans (garbage bags had to be paper) your house address was recorded and they sent you a warning telling you that next time you would get a fine. As this is how I grew up I was used to it. We got a new Dr at work who came from a rural area out of state that had no garbage service or recycling program. They of course threw everything into their trash. At first they got a letter saying they had to use paper garbage bags. They asked us nurses if this was a real thing or was he being pranked. We told him it was a serious issue for the area to just use the paper bags from the grocery store instead of buying the counties bags. A few weeks later he was fined for recycling. Raccoons had tipped his cans and his wife threw everything into the garbage. He was so mad! Neither he nor his wife had ever heard of a recycling program and now he can't burn his trash (neighbors called the police), has to use paper bags which leak all over forcing him to wash out the stinky cans every week and store them in his garage or the Raccoons will spread the garbage across his yard nightly! I felt bad for him but burning our trash had never occurred to me before then. About 10 years later I moved to a area that had no trash or recycling services and everyone had to burn or store & haul it to the dump. We were allowed so many pounds per month and had to pay for every pound over. It was basically just enough for a months worth of glass jars and hard plastics. Everywhere is different and they each have their own "normal way".

I hate trash cans too and our pick up not close which we would have to drive to so burning is the easiest thing to for us. 👍👍👍

Made mine out of an old water pressure tank. Very thick, and will last a long time.

I put mine on top of bricks. Mine never broke up but I didn't burn a lot. Mostly papers with numbers on like account numbers that I didn't want in the trash.

Bricks worked good until they didn’t lol we burn every week so it didn’t last long then one day I seen they old brake drums and was like that will work for ever lol

I've been doing something similar to yours only with the slits on the side vertical and a 6 foot long, 8 inch stove pipe fastened to the lid and the lid hinged to the barrel. with a little hardware cloth to catch the burning ash this burnbarrel looks like a giant blow torch when I burns and doesn't smoke. Light your fires from the top and it will smoke less on startup

First...GREAT to see a new video from you! Love the idea of burn barrels. When I was growing up in the city, we were allowed to burn. That was our big thing...the day we burned trash! Us kids would just stand around the barrel and watch it burn like it was something we'd never seen before. But just like everything else...the city changed the laws, and no more burning...trash pick-up instead. Recycling didn't come until much later when I was an adult.

If I put old beef bones - large beef bones in the burn barrel, will it burn down to dust. As in, will bones disintegrate from the intense heat?
@SunnySlopeHomestead
@SunnySlopeHomestead 10 месяцев назад
Yes but they need to be dry to burn alone or you will need fuel to burn them like wood
