Travel with pending affirmative asylum claim is allowed using an advance parole only. Generally speaking, a person who has a pending asylum claim should not be traveling to their home country, so should not his or her dependents. Asylum claim will be regarded as abandoned if a person does not follow the rules. A person in removal proceedings, should not be traveling and cannot usually obtain advance parole.
