Regular pvc glue. Also, you can draw a straight line, use the heat gun to warm it up again and bend it to whatever angle you need. I use a 2x6 screwed to a 2x4 to make the outside of a 90 degree angle. I've got some little 1x2 screwed to the ends as feet to hold it in a "V" shape, and lay a 4x4 on top. Corners come out a little rounded so do a test piece first.

I have been trying to accomplish this for several days now, and I must be doing something wrong. First I tried a piece of regular 4 inch PVC about 3 feet long with no success. The tube wall is so thick the heat had no effect. Next I tried 4 inch thin wall (drainage) tubing, first at 3 feet long and then at 1 foot long. Neither became the soft flexible sheet you pulled from your stove pipe, and neither flattened out like yours did. Both had ridges and humps in them and they started hardening almost immediately. Can you offer any advice? I'm desperate.

1. What schedule PVC pipe did you use? Or exactly how thick is the gauge of the pipe before heating? How many total minutes did you heat the PVC to achieve that much pliability before melting occurs?

The pipe was heated for around 4 minutes. It's most likely schedule 40 PVC pipe.

@@greenhornadventure No, - it's wall is too thin to be sch 40, it looks more like DWV pipe which is about Sch 20, also it's about a 3 inch diameter, which is more evidence of it being DWV pipe.

Everything has some kind off gas when it’s heated so try to use a mask if it bothers you. It’ll only be safer

Not highly toxic in small amounts with adequate ventilation. You wouldn’t want to do it in an enclosed room several hours a day. It’s probably more dangerous driving to the store to buy the pipe than occasionally heating a piece or two.
