In this video I'll talk you through my experiences being diverted by Ryanair on my flight from Seville to Edinburgh. Due to Storm Isha we were unable to land in Edinburgh and the attempt was abandoned. We then were diverted to Cologne, landing in Cologne Bonn Airport (IATA: CGN, ICAO: EDDK) on the 21st January 2024.
Our Ryanair flight on the 22nd January 2024 was delayed leaving Cologne by more than three hours.
I'll show you in this video how I made an expenses and delayed flight compensation claim against Ryanair using the Ryanair website. I'll let you know how they handled the claim and what happened.
Also, I'll show you in detail how you can claim for expenses from Ryanair, or claim for delayed or cancelled Ryanair flights on the Ryanair website.
Here's the link to the Ryanair Claim Website:

I’m facing the same problem. The flight was delayed for more than five hours. I went to the website to fill out the compensation form, and they said I don’t have the right to compensation because a bird crashed into the airplane, which is out of their control - unbelievable.

Wow that sucks! We’re still trying for compensation for this months later its still going on. But, what can you do 🤷🏻‍♂️

Airlines are not liable for the EU compensation if the delay is caused by adverse weather. How far the airlines take this is open to debate - knock on delays from earlier weather incidents for example - but in this case it is clearly a case of the aircraft being unable to land at EDI due weather. They did eventually get you home, horribly late of course, but they fulfilled their obligations so don't expect the €250 payout. They are, however, liable for expenses caused by the delay which is why you got your food and drink reimbursed.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking that because the plane from Cologne to Edinburgh on the Monday was due to fly at 10am, but didn't leave until after 2pm, that the delay compensation applies to that flight. What do you think? I'm not sure now...

@@TravellingTourist I would assume Ryanair would claim that this was an extra flight put on to get you home and as such there was no set schedule from which you could claim you were three hours or more late. Sourcing a crew would have been very hard due to all the chaos caused by weather diversions and as you said they had to use a Malta Air crew to get you home. Malta Air is a Ryanair subsidiary by the way. It’s a tricky one but my gut feeling is that Ryanair are correct in denying you the EU compensation. They got you to your destination with a delay that was obviously caused by extreme weather.

@@egpx You might be right - I guess I'll need to wait n' see. Thanks for your advice :)
