I just bought this camera and I am delighted with its quality and capabilities! Thanks for the great review!

Great video and one of the best I’ve seen for showcasing the actual use case capabilities of the camera, instead of endless BS so-called “technical” critiques from gadget-crazy techno-geeks with dubious videography credentials, comparing this camera against others (take your pick). I use an action camera principally for motorcycle blogging and travel. Until the Ace Pro I have been using my GoPro Hero 11 black which is “OK” aside from the possibility of unexpected lockup / freezing requiring a pull-battery reboot, the need for a media mod just to connect external mic, and of course the primitive screw-only slow-release mount! The Ace Pro is such a leap forward I may be soon selling my GoPro. Thanks again for the video.

Great footage and I agree, fantastic camera. I’m thinking about going to NAB this year and if I do I need to check out that Ghost Town

You hit it right on, it's a camera design to give you excellent footage with minimal pre/post effort. Great review, ahhh... Vegas ;)

great overview! curious if you filmed most of your shots handheld or with the camera on the selfie stick?
@LowDoughTech

Most walking shots were on a Telesin battery handle, and I had the camera at around a 45 degree angle, holding sort of like a flashlight. Just casual walking around shots, no real thinking involved. If I were going to get shots for a client with this camera, I would definitely have been more mindful of how I framed the shots. A few times when I wanted to keep things light I used a selfie stick, like at the Hoover Dam. The only time that it wasn't on a selfie stick was when I was on the bike, where I used a handlebar mount. I tried to include "real use case" shots, and all of the footage is undedited. I hate watching a camera review and knowing that the footage I'm looking at has been heavily edited. I also hate watching a camera review, where someone is holding the camera in question, talking about how great it is, but filming the majority of the review with a completely different camera. I'd always rather see a footage dump than product shots! :)

Still learnign the camera.... i noticed there was some noise in my shadows which were shot backlit and at ISO 100, i shot it in Flat profile. I'll test in normal settings.

Thankls for your review. I am also seeking great quality image in a convenient housing to capture great travel moments. I have owned many action cameras, where most have been good, but not great. Image quality has been very good outside on a bright day, but they suffer in low light, particularly with the stabilisation jello or wabble issues. For this reason, I went down the Osmo Pocket 3, however I have to treat if with respect, as a small camera on a gimbal is susceptible to damage if handled roughly. This looks to be a better solution than the OP3, with its rugged housing and a larger screen. Did you experience any stabilisation jello or wabble in low light, even in Pure Video Mode? I totally agree with your five categories, particularly Compact Design, Image Quality, Video Stabilisation and Low Light Performance. Great review.

Your reasons are exactly why I skippe don the Osmo Pocket 3. I have the Osmo Pocket 1, and I feel like I have to treat it like it's made of glass. I like to carry a cross body bag, and be able to quickly "holster" my travel camera. For that, the Ace Pro has been perfect. But, to answer your question, no jello wobble at all on any of my shots. I pretty much always leave the camera set on low stabilization at all times.

camera review without bells and whistles - how it should be - just down and dirty with real world examples.....I picked one up and love it so far. A bit of a head scratcher on the negative reviews - i feel like this camera, in the internet comment sections of the world, was the pre-cursor to the Lumix S9....people just lost their minds and were either furious or delighted - no in between it seems.

For sure its videography and its features are outstanding!! But i wanna know hows the quality of photos it capture?? How would you rate its photography compared to iphone 15 pro or any beginner level dslr/compact camera? Really wanna know before buying..
@LowDoughTech
@LowDoughTech 7 месяцев назад
The quality of photos are great for landscape photography, but it's pretty much point-and-shoot. Photos from an Iphone or entry level mirrorless camera will give you a lot more options for showing depth of field and things like that.

At 5:02 note the tree at right bend. Is this with dewarp on? Is there another setting ala Linear which has zero fish eye? Re MIC, initially Ace Pro was compatible with wireless Mic 2 but then not with last update. So I emailed and received this reply from Insta this week, fingers crossed: "We expect the Ace Pro to be compatible with DJI mic 2 in the next firmware update. However, we don't have a firm date for the firmware update yet."
@LowDoughTech

Sorry for the really late response, I used dewarp for the entire video. Dewarp does an overall great job, but when things are within around 10 feet, the dewarp will still have some fish eye effect. Dewarp is the best setting for reducing fisheye, but unfortunately there is no way that I know of to eliminate it completely. Supposedly Insta360 has opened up compatibility with the latest firmware update, but I can't confirm this because I don't own the DJI mic.

This looks incredible. Did you have on the PD mode inside that giant mall at about the 4:18 mark? It looks incredible inside and in low light. The 4:18 mark also impressive. Pure video?

The only time I used Pure Video was at night time outside. Everything else is straight out of the camera, auto settings. 4K/30 fps.

@@LowDoughTech wow. That’s amazing. Would you recommend this camera? I actually already have a GoPro hero 12 which I really love so much, at least in good daylight, where it shines and looks absolutely amazing. But the minute the light goes down it starts to look really terrible. I was going to buy a gimbal, but at this point a gimbal costs almost almost as much as just getting the ace pro. I might just get the ace pro as a secondary camera. You’d recommend it? Lastly, did you fiddle with manual settings like white balance or shuttter speed in this video? I’m actually amazed by this footage. I would say that in good light, it looks on par with the newer GoPros and the newer DJI action cameras but when it turns to night light or even just well lit inside shots, it just blows those cameras away.

any Focus problem?
@LowDoughTech
@LowDoughTech 3 месяца назад
Sorry for the late response. I didn't see your comment. No focus issues, it's a fixed focus camera. So anything within 16 inches will be out of focus, everything beyond that will be in perfect focus.
