OMG! I have been playing bass for 30 years. Been following Marcus, Mark King, Jaco, Graham, etc... Never EVER seen such groove, ever! Stevie needs to hear this! Really! He must! Best I have heard in years!
Simply unbelievable. Grooving like hell, playing fills like nothing and singing at the same time. I will put my bass into its case and will never touch it again. Some people are so talented. Thank you, Rebecca and Band for this ...
There are few who can lay down bass lines like this and sing at the same time . World class singing and playing . And soulful . she is from a period of time when players really wanted to and could dig in and pull their talent and focus together to become a player and singer like this
I admire drummers who can sing and play complicated patterns at the same time and bass players who can also. Ms Johnson.. you have some serious skills!!
A friend of mine, who plays jazz guitar, met you and your guitarist and was very complimentary of your musicianship and personalities. As a bass player, I'm blown away. Rebecca, it would be great if you could do a video or two, showing your technique. Anyway, 1st class trio band. I hope the people at that modest venue realised what they were getting.
Just back from a night out in HK, looking for something to chill to before hitting the sack ....... and this comes on !!!! Simply brilliant - amazing bass licks, great voice, tight drums and guitar support. Subscribed immediately.
Right on greetings neighbor I'm from St Augustine I would to see if she can come to daytona beach or Jacksonville so I could see her live high fives you they should be singing play that funky music right girllll
GAAAAHD!!!! so much talent Rebecca Johnson oh my! .. the groove, the basslines, WHILE SINGING! .. jeez .. and also, as a guitarist, I swear I raped the replay button at 2:05
Without doubt….. THE Best Bass Player right now… Am serious…. Nobody can do what she does…. Sorry Marcus, Larry, Mark, Victor, Davie504, etc…. But Rebecca just nailed it!!!!
Very cool cover. Instead of following those Motown bass players who usually had their bass snares dampened, you left the snares as they are, and added some slaps to give punchier twang. Love it :D
Wow. Someone knows where the pocket is. BTW, I think RU-vid has a bug. There are 3 thumbs down on this video. That’s definitely a bug. What could have you possibly expected when you clicked on the link? Jeez.
She is playing that bass! I'm good with just instrumental. That song like anything out of Motown or its influence has an amazing bass groove thanks to James Jamerson and other members of their band The Funk Brothers.
Totally agree. She's really good. James Jamerson, the real deal. I'm a musician and 2 fine bass players told me that he never changed his strings! Best Wishes from London and stay safe.
Just fantastic as always!! Wild seeing Con without a beard with his baby face!! 😅 This video is 9 yrs old and still the same players, well who wouldn't want to spend a career playing with a bassist/vocalist like you Becca??
What a lovely comment - Thanks so much... We have actually been playing together as this band for 22 years! Only started recording our gigs - making videos in 2009. :-) :-)
