Hi Cindy-Lynn! GREAT TIP COMINIG WHEN USINF THE stamp Cleaner “Scrubby” tool. Be sure to read to the end. This is my first time on your channel and I learned (after 11 years of not knowing) that my stamps need to be conditioned in addition to being cleaned! SO glad I saw your video! So now I have a tip for you and your viewers that have the StampinUp Stamp Cleaner “Scrubby”, as you call it! So there IS a “wet” Side and a Dry side to this tool. When you open the Stamp Cleaner, the interior corners that are grey have Water droplets embossed on the “Wet Side” and a Sun embossed on the “Dry Side”. You may have to turn it right side up to see these embossings, as they are only on the top or bottom. It is very important to use the wet side only for wet and especially the dry side only for dry, I was taught by a demonstrator to always spray the Stamp Mist on the Wet side, clean the stamp while it is still on a block and then dry it on the dry side. This will preserve both sides of your Stamp Cleaner for more effective long-term use of this tool. Hope you find this helpful and I can’t wait to see more videos from you!
I was the lucky recipient of some 20+ year old red rubber line art stamps. They had some old staz-on on them. Were slightly chalky, and not in great condition. My friend had given up on them. I scrubbed them several times with my staz-on cleaner following up with some Dawn that I keep on my scrubby all of the time. After several attempts of cleaning and conditioning, they are giving me great images! My demonstrator was quite surprised. The staz-on cleaner is the best on the market. If you don't own it, buy it. It can redeem many a mistake. I was afraid to try it on my photo polymer stamps. Thanks for letting me know it is safe!
I learned quite a bit. I am a beginner so i watched videos and was told to use baby wipes but now i know better and will be ordering the mist and shammy. Thank you so.much for sharing with us. I really appreciate it
Great tips Cindy-Lynn! Yes, I clean off my stamps after using them. I didn’t know about using Dawn dish soap to get the stamps to cling again. Also didn’t know to let them air dry afterwards. Thank you!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Very informative! When I first started stamping 16+ years ago my teacher said ‘a clean stamp is a happy stamp’... how right she was... I love your enthusiasm!
I'm just getting back to card making/crafting so this video was absolutely perfect for me. I have some older stamps that were given to me and now I know how to clean and condition them. Thank you!!
I wish I had found your youtube channel BEFORE I used my newly bought julie nutting stamps and cleaned them with non-alcohol baby wipes!!! Looks like I'll need to make a few more purchases. Very informative. Thank you for the demonstrations!
Good tips, Cindy-Lynn. I clean off my stamps 95% of the time but if I’m stamping a lot in one session, I might forget one or two. If I use Stazon or Archival Ink, I do it right away. Love my scrubbie! ❤️🇨🇦
I'm right there with you!! I also don't clean them while filming but I do it afterwards. There are just those times (few and far between) that something comes up!! lol 😁💗
Thanks Cindy Lyn I learned that you can use stazon and condition them with stamping mist , never was told by demo lady how to clean my stamps only w.stampin mist. You are the Best 💖😁😁. From New Hamburg Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Thank you thank you thank you!! I've just started this stamping/cardmaking journey. Of all the gazillions of how-to videos I've watched, I haven't come across one that is just "a cleaning your stamps" one. I actually found this video because it was mentioned in another of YOUR videos!! What luck! I was bumbling along trying to figure out the correct way to clean my stamps and keep them in good condition. I want to protect my investment! SO, this video is gold for me! Thanks again! :-)
So glad to watch this video. I always clean my rubber stamps with the mist & scrubbie (aka my "hedgehog") but I thought the mist was harmful to photopolymer, so only use water on my shammy. Looks like I will be spending a few hrs conditioning all of my pp stamps. Thank you for the detailed info😊
I was told to never use StazOn cleaner on photopolymer stamps (I believe even Stampin'Up does not recommend it). I make my own stamp cleaner, and have no problem with it (it has glycerine in it, to condition the stamps). I use a shammy (other brand before Stampin'Up came out with there's) and sometimes my Stampin'Scrub, depending how dirty my stamps are.
Stampin' Up! has never said not to use StazOn on the photopolymer stamps that I can find or have heard from them. Again, I can only tell my viewers what my personal findings are. And after years and years of using StazOn and the cleaner, then conditioning afterwards I've never experienced any adverse effects 😊💗😊
Hi from Maryland, USA. This was a great video! Very helpful. I was afraid to clean my shammy with Dawn ( or anything) because of the possible residue, but if the soap left behind will not hurt or dry out the stamps, then “yay”! I also sometimes stamp off the stamp several times on paper before cleaning with the shammy. That way there is less ink staining on the shammy. I don’t like it when the shammy gets too black with staining. 😫 And yes, I clean my stamps EVERY time.
@@_MyInkieFingers It is something I taught my granddaughter when she was about seven years old. She and I used to stamp together before the family moved away.
What a fantastic video. I took quite a few of my stamps and removed them from the wood so now I need to know where to get the grey sheets to make the stamps usable. Do you know where I can find this product? Thanks so much for sharing this video, sure has helped me with the cleaning of my stamps. Sending hugs from Canada!😍
I learned that the Stampin mist is used to condition ANY stamp! Thanks cyndi Lynn I’m going to go try to clean some red off some used stamps I purchased; y’a never know what magic dawn diswashing liquid can do, except that I, allergic (really badly) to something in it, I’ve tried different colors, off brands, etc. Don’t know what it is but I get a really bad rash within hours of using it. So, I’ll use gloves.
Oh no!! Seriously? 😮 I would have never imagined that could happen... well, in all honesty it's not that unthinkable I suppose. What a shame. I couldn't live without my Dawn! 💗💗
Omg! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I am so guilty of cleaning my stamps the wrong way, 😱 YIKES 😳!!! I am so glad I watched your video. I have primarily used baby wipes and yes, had lint left behind, grrrrr! I have two stamping scrubbies so will bring at least one out and start cleaning the correct way. Also will bring dawn upstairs to clean stamps do they will stick again instead of using double sided tape. Your awesome Cindie Lynne for sharing such an informative video with us. Thank you! 🤗
I'm beaming just reading your comment and excitement!! 😁😁 I'm so thrilled that this was helpful for you. Even if you just take the plastic fuzzy insert OUT of your Stampin' Scrub and have it close by so it's not so bulky. That will help a lot. But if you have space, then of course, use the whole thing. 😊💗
@@_MyInkieFingers I want you to know, I pulled it out and used it that very same day. I forgot how easy it was to clean and dry the stamps. Your so funny and so awesome 👏
Love your videos! If you will look at the corners of your "scrubbie", you will see a raindrop on one and a sun on the other - raindrop for your stamp cleaner liquid and the other one to dry your stamp!
Thanks for the info! I didn't realize you could use the stazon cleaner on reg ink. I've only used it when I use stazon ink. Thanks for the info on cleaning the stamps with dawn.. Speaking of smells...I love the smell of stazon ink! I always clean my stamps after using them but realize now they could probably be cleaner!
Hello, I knew lots of your tips, except for using stazon cleaner on photopolymer stamps. I had heard that the cleaner will damage PP stamps if applied on it often. Stazon cleaner doesn't have a conditioner, so I also always "reclean" my stamps so they be conditioned. Thanks for sharing.
I didn't know it was safe to use the stazon cleaner on photopolymer stamps. I will be using it on mine and I love the stampin mist and I have a scrubber but usually always reach for my shammy. Thank you for sharing your tips I have learned so much from your videos. 😊💕
I'm just starting out so I learned a lot!!! I'm going to have to write out the steps. I did hear about the Dove soap, but not how to dry them. The mist, shammi, the bottle like ink dobber, and scrubber I didn't know about. Thanks for enlightening me Cindy Lynn. 💕
It also helps to stamp in VersaMark before stamping on your ink pad (will not stain as much). I love the Stamp Cleaning Pad Stampin'Up used to sell. That works really well, if you clean your stamp right away. I don't know why they discontinued it. Awesome product.
Thank you Cindy Lynn for sharing this video. I always clean my stamps right after but did a lot of the no no. I used to use baby wipes and found a lot of lint left over. I would have to weed them out. Now I use a micro fibre cloth. I may need to invest in the stampin cleaner. I will use the method for the photo polymer stamps. Quick question is it warm water or room temperature
Warm soap (Dawn dish soap) and water will revive a photopolymer stamp. If it's not photopolymer use Aleene's tack it over and over on the back of the stamp. Let it dry overnight. Then it will stick again.
Hi, dropping by from Cornwall UK, Brilliant advise, need to get me some more stamp and mist. I’ve stopped using baby wipes on stamps but they are great for cleaning the acrylic blocks. Thank you as always. Xx
They sure are!! I also use Undu for the stubborn sticky stuff on my blocks. I apply it and the baby wipes just wipe the gunk right off! 😁💗😁 (geni.us/vTHI)
I have a bathroom sink 5 steps from my stamp table (it's farther away than you think..lol), so I keep warm, sudsy water in it and throw my stamps in there right after I use them. I air dry mine as well, but I need to condition them more. Thanks for the tips!
Hi Cindy Lynn, Just subscribed to your channel. WOW, What informative videos you have. I have learned so much just watching this one. Thank you for sharing💕 I look forward to watching all your videos.
Thank you for showing me how to properly clean stamps. I do have stayzon cleaner but I didn’t know about conditioning as well. So what do you think I going to do now. Get one.
Staz On Cleaner was made to clean stamps, but as I said (in case you missed it 😋) I condition my stamps with the mist after using Staz On (In an effort to recondition) 😊💗
Just wondering.. why can’t you simply clean your stamps with a solution of Dawn soap and skip the sprays and scrubbies? I just rinse them and leave to dry.
I've had some stamps that have fused to the acetate and the back surface has been damaged while removing them. Do you know of any ways to restore the adhesive back surface when it's been damaged like that, or should I just mount them on cling foam? I also have some old stamps that were donated to me that are going sticky and deforming as if they're melting. What causes this? Is there a fix or should I start throwing them out?
Deforming sticky clear stamps are poor quality stamps and unfortunately there's no way to save them. As for the rubber stamps, if it were me I would just remount them 😊
@@_MyInkieFingers the ones with damaged backs are clear photopolymer (or acrylic), but the back surface was damaged when pulling them off the acetate so they don't stick. I think mounting them as if they were rubber is probably the only solution unless there's a product to resurface the backs
If the stamp is really really old and Dr u and won't stick will the spray mist fix it, or should I just get new stamp? These are old red stamps from stamping up
If the rubber is still good (soft and flexible) you can make it re-stick again with Aleene's Tack it Over and Over. I showed it in a video a long time ago but can't for the life of me remember which one. Perhaps I should show it again as a quick Tip in a Tuesday "The Stampin' Chat" video. Now, if your red rubber is all dried up and starting to crack sadly there is nothing you can do about it 😥
Hi. I have a question about how to make old rubber stamps cling again when you can't get Dawn soap. Is Dawn a regular dish soap? We also don't have Stampin up here in Norway, is there any other products that is similar to the mist? I have started to re organize my rubber stamps on to laminate sheets, but some of the stamps from Club stamp (Club Scrap) is not sticking to the laminate. It's not CS fault, it''s just that the ez mount is old, but it's not hard or dry, so I guess there will be some solution other than try to find new ez mount as they no longer have any in stock in Norwegian craft shops and it's to expensive to buy from other countries as the shipping cost and the VAT is higher than the price of the product and I don't think it's worth 100 dollar to get some ez mount though
I use "Aleene's Tack it Over and Over" (On Amazon or Craft Supplies stores in North America) and apply it to the back of the EZ Mount sheets to make it tacky and repositionable. I apply it with a paint brush so I can achieve a smooth and even coverage. I can't say what other products may be available to you that are similar to Dawn or the Stampin' Mist, sorry. I won't just tell you 'something' or the sake of telling you something or that I have not tired or believe in. I wish I could have been more helpful xo 💗
Why do my stamps turn pink and can you clean them clear again Thanks for all the great info!! I recently made my own spray scrub with distilled water, baby bath shampoo and glycerin Is this ok to use? Will it hurt my stamps?!
I'm sure baby shampoo is fine. They pink because of the red ink. That's when I use StazOn. But be sure to condition the stamp afterwards. Perhaps even with your ready made mixture of baby shampoo as StazOn is a little harsh. ❤️😊
I've been using StazOn for decades never found it does. But I've always used Stampin' Mist afterwards to condition them. It's an extra step or the alternative is to skip the Stazon and have badly stained stamps. I'm too OCD to look at stained stamps! Haha 😂❤️
@@_MyInkieFingers Sorry that probably sounded rude but that's NOT what was intended! I know Kirkland has alcohol but not sure about Huggies or Pampers.
@@_MyInkieFingers so sorry. I have searched pinterest, RU-vid, Google and couldn't find it. Finally left off the SU part- it's a Simon Says stamp set! Oops sorry 😞
I knew about the cleaner and stazon cleaner. I clean my stamps after use right away. I heard that stazon cleaner eventually breaks down clear stamps and destroys the stamp. Have you heard of that?
There's all sorts of rumors out there. I've never heard it, but as it's a harsher cleaner that's why I mentioned cleaning/conditioning your stamp afterwards 😊❤️
I have not heard such a thing. I've been using it for years and years. So I go on what I know. And I know mine are fine. But again, I condition them afterwards with the Stampin' Mist. 😁😁
@@helencooper286 there is always condratictory information out there. Again, I speak from experience. Ive owned both clear and rubber stamps for almost 20 years and I've never had an issue. All my stamps are in fantastic condition. 😁❤️
