Watched a DIRESTA video for the first time 3 weeks ago. Man, I'm hooked watching DIRESTA video's. Me myself got a background in welding and construction work. Started wood work 6 months ago. Going back to the job market around april 2019. This man inspires me so much, including a shit load of lessons learned allready. Thank you Jimmy Diresta , I'll keep watching / learning.

I was *just* about to comment about how it would have looked a lot better if you'd inlaid it instead of having it on top of the board. Then you started working on that absolutely beautiful border for it. That'll teach me not to question Jimmy Diresta. Excellent job as always.

Looked like two part epoxy to me. Same question.
@mckenziekeith7434
@mckenziekeith7434 8 лет назад
+SyberPrepper It was definitely West System epoxy. They make a great product but it is expensive. Personally I have not had good luck using it as a finish. It builds like crazy (you can pour it on if the surface is horizontal) and self-levels, but it goes cloudy and turns yellow. If you let it cure, you can wet sand it and then cover it with one layer of varnish, and that seems to help protect it from yellowing. I think the varnish has UV inhibitors.

A suggestion, maybe not entirely applicable when you cover it with velvet, but you could use the brass masters, heat them up, and use them to melt pockets into the styrofoam for the pieces that fits perfectly.
