Part three - ’15 Honda CB500F - Modern Café
Began making the tank, after determining the final shape in my previous “part two” video. By making a wire-frame you can determine the shape and already see if you don’t collide with your clip-on or something like that. The wire-frame will be removed after all panels are made, it’s only for shaping.
Started with drawing the left and right side panels on thin cardboard, cutting those to shape, and making them out of an aluminum sheet. Rolling, shrinking, and stretching it to the desired shape.
Then I made the top of the tank, with a nice gas cap fitting that fits the original gas cap!
I’ve welded the gas cap fitting with AC TIG and flattened the welds afterward.
Fitted the top and side pieces together and also welded those with AC TIG.
The result is rewarding!
