Just record him saying the first part then then look for a video when he says Dan and another one where he says voicemail. Then record it all together and there you have it a bootlegged Larry voicemail greeting.
My god, it all makes sense now.... Those faux ruby statues were actually dildo's! And that's why all the kids were given a new fangled video recording device, so they could film all the debauchery and use it as proof!
I thought the kids show came first I am a American and know very little about uk shows but I remember readding about this show and it said the kids show came first
"A video game interpretation of the film score" is one of the coolest things I've ever heard. That's creative in a completely different way than probably any other video game that's existed. I love the idea of starting with music and making the game match what it makes you feel.
The bullet hell Touhou series is an example, Zun basically makes the music before designing the stages and characters, and creates them based on the music.
@@SmumplytheF2P No way! That's wicked cool. The music in that game is phenomenal -- it really shows that it is the focus. For some reason there is a large overlap between the Touhou community and the Super Mario World ROM hacking community, so the Touhou music has been ported to SNES to work with a lot of the hacks. All the time I'll be playing one and say "I gotta find out what this song is", and half the time someone from the comments will tell me its another Touhou track, haha. I've always wanted to get into the games for the music alone, this fact that they were the cornerstone to the gameplay somehow just doubles that for me.
Cheggers was 17? It's hard to imagine him ever not looking like a middle aged man on a sugar rush, until you see footage of him on big brother where he looks even older. Tough paper round I take it?
So, to be utterly needlessly pedantic, but... Grandpa's last name wasn't Munster, he was Lily's father. In fact, Grandpa's last name is, unsurprisingly, Dracula.
If you include auto racing then we can also include Dale Earnhardt, Richard Petty, Mario Andretti, A.J. Foyt, Michael Schumacher, and Jeff Gordon, just to name a few...
Ha, ha, same here. I mean, I'm aware of the existence of John Madden because he's always showing up in videogames, and even if I don't play those games they're always a presence. But that's it. If the video had been muted at that point I could have just assumed all those people were videogame executives for all I knew.
I have Dracula the Undead for the Lynx. It may have been a cheap way to get a license, but I thought it was really well done. My connecting it to the book, it made it natural to have Bram Stoker act as the narrator to fill in the story. Also, it allowed the game to avoid trying to recreate everything in the movie without getting called out on it.
The Al Lewis/Midnight Mutants story is even weirder. See in the mid 80s there was a syndicated remake of "The Munsters" called "The Munsters Today" and Al Lewis was publicly outraged that he wasn't asked to reprise the roll of Grandpa Munster. The media picked up on it and Lewis was able to capitalize on his newly regained fame by getting a TV show on TBS called "Super Scary Saturday" which ran from 1987 until 1989.
It ended up causing the Grandpa character to transcend the old show. He'd do countdowns on Halloween on either MTV or VH1, I remember him showing up on a PBS kid show, there was a horror cartoon thing he hosted, but nothing was as memorable as Super Scary Saturday. I wonder why, with there being two of them, neither one played the character on Gremlins 2 The New Batch. Larry thinking Al Lewis was in Gremlins 2 probably shows that the UK didn't care so much about Grandpa as to have multiple actors running around playing him all over the place in the '80s and '90s. And why did we in the US even have them? Crypt Keeper > Grandpa.
+Deltaru: There was a character in Gremlins 2 named "Grandpa Fred" who was clearly based on Grandpa Munster, but he was not portrayed by Al Lewis (as implied by the video). gremlins.wikia.com/wiki/Grandpa_Fred
He also appeared as Grampa for Amvest Video, showcasing horror movie trailers and public domain cartoons alongside the Happy Hamster (formerly Chipmunk)
Irkaylub Despite critical reception being mostly negative, the general population in the us, who were hungry for sci-fi films in the wake of the likes of star wars, didn't know what to call good or bad, and blade runner became a short lived phenomenon, despite negative reviews.
Irkaylub Blade Runner was a huge pop culture influence for years. Everything from the 80's anime/manga Bubblegum Crisis to the 90's Saturday Morning Sonic/SatAM cartoon shows influence from Blade Runner to some degree.
Yes Autobot the film was a huge influence for years to come, but people certainly didn't care for it when it first came out, which is why it was not one of the 'hottest movies' of 1982.
Please never change the transitions in your videos. The music, sounds, and design are already nostalgic to me. I'm always deeply satisfied when the music plays right after thr inevetable Peter Molyneux joke! If there's one thing that screams "Larry Bundy Jr," it's the countdown/transition music. Thanks for dedicating your time to entertain people like me!
No it wasn't. It was something a nine year old could come up with. His pointless little campaign got tedious a long long time ago. As does the twats who pretend that any gag had them rolling around on the floor when you probably chuckled at best. Grow up for fucks sake.
Well, he did do quite a few things right during the Bullfrog days. The Populous series, Syndicate, Theme Park and Theme Hospital, Magic Carpet and the Dungeon Keeper games were all excellent.
Dear Guru Larry, My name is Peter Molyneux. I believe you know me very well. Well you're about to know me ever better, as I have compiled a huge list of every character-defaming instance you've issued over the years, and intend to use them to sue you for everything you got. I planned on taking you to court on May 18th, however that date will be pushed back since I'll be fiddicking with my lawyer's work making it a complete mess. When we finally do get everything all straightened out, I'll then go to court and go in to needlessly complex details not even involving this case, and use Photoshop to add Sherlock Holmes pipes and 1800's sailor uniforms to everyone. This will, of course, tamper with the evidence, thus nullifying my case. From then on, I'll just send you box after box of animal poo in the mail. That'll teach you. Expect me (late) on the 18th. Prepare for an extremely lackluster experience. Sincerely, Peter Molyneux King of Videogames
I'd love to see another episode that deals with games in licensing/IP hell. For example, how the old Mechwarrior games will probably never get released due to how many different parties would need to get involved.
Jacques Villeneuve was in charge of his own licensing in the late 90s/early 00s which no game company would pay extra for on top of the formula one license. Which meant that in F1 games he was always given aliases like Williams Driver or, my favourite, John Newhouse (English translation of his name). Probably my favourite licensing quirk
Actually larry I believe cheggers last appearance was on Warrik Davises sitcom "Life's too short" and it's special where he had a pretty substantial role. The whole thing was taking the mic out of his career though and even his drinking.
He also appeared as himself in an episode of the previous Gervais/Merchant sitcom, _Extras_. Many Americans (myself included) know him from those two shows.
I love the Cheapshow description of Chegwin that he is basically someone that was so annoying that they never wanted him in the studio. Every job he had made him the man on the street and not in the studio. If Noel Edmonds thinks you’re annoying then you might have a problem
If anyone's wondering, the background music for number 4 is the theme to Ballblazer, a game for several Atari 8-bit computers and consoles including the 7800. It's possibly the only video game theme that technically doesn't loop. The funky "piano" track in the background is randomized through some sort of mathematical process that's far beyond me. In other words, it's computer-produced, improvised jazz. Ironically the 7800 version is the only Atari version that doesn't play indefinitely. What that also means is that every time the song is played, it's unique. It'll sound similar, but it won't actually be exactly the same. Which means it's the only video game song for which you can prove which upload was used for a given video. Just match them up, and if there's a one-to-one correlation, that's where it came from. And DUUUUUUDE LARRY USED MY VIDEO! It's the only video game song in the world I could prove this for but holy shit, he used my upload of the song! Listen for yourself: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i7V7B57Kbqk.html For the record I have no problem with him using my video, in fact I find it really, really cool. I guess there's also a chance that the randomization comes from something physical in the system and emulators all play it exactly the same? Or maybe the 5200 version doesn't randomize; that's the version I used I think. Umm so I'm 90% sure he used my video lol.
It really is unfortunate that he doesn't have a larger subscriber base. His videos are consistently entertaining, informational, and tend to also be fairly unique: even when he's doing subjects that have been done to death (like the lowest-selling consoles of all times) he offers quality statistics and/or gives a unique spin on it.
Saw that this video was up last night, decided nah screw it... I need my sleep. so now after a refreshing sleep I come to this video being able to fully enjoy it.
I'd would argue that PlayStation 1 budget title Chris Kamara's Street Soccer would be a strong contender with David O'Leary Manager 2000 for worst license in football games. Kim Justice covered that fairly recently, but I remember it raising a quizzical smirk from me in my HMV days.
Jae Hodgkin yes! i knew if i scrolled down id find someone else who expected it. i first saw it in an old virgin megastore and just laughed. i couldn't believe they made a football game with a guy who was a second division player, i dont think he played in the premier league.
8bit computers, was full of this stuff. I. Can remember many times my young self would play a film or tv tie in game and quickly realising it has nothing in common with it at allYet another entertaining video. Thanks.
Dude, you just put a HUGE grin on my face by having a track from Monopoly (for Win. 95) as the background music for #1! I still play my disk every now and then, and the music is one of my favorite things about it (Well, and its adorably cartoon-y graphics)
To be fair, making a game based on a reinterpretation of a soundtrack/music album sounds like it could be really interesting if competently and honestly done.
I love hearing about all the weird things that was released in Britian because growing up in Canada I was not exposed to it :(. Can't wait for your next video
Thanks for uploading! Always nice to see your informative Fact Hunt videos, Larry! And hey, you may be on RU-vid, but you're still plenty enough of a celebrity for me, for all that that's worth!

That Keith Chegwin naked jungle show was based off a kids tv show called Jungle Run using the same set. I hope they washed/burned the set between shows.
Larry Bundy Jr Channel 5 couldn't have afforded to build such a substantial set. He was also, apparently, not required to host naked - he actually wanted to join in.
Thanks for reminding me of the existence of Naked Jungle. I'd handily blanked that out of my memories, yet suddenly those neurons responsible for encoding the image of Keith Chegwin's wobbling todge start flaring back to life, seventeen years later yet vivid as the day I saw it... Cheers Larry!
"Undoubtedly, the hottest movie of 1982 was dystopian scifi thriller, Blade Runner." Dude, no. That was the year E.T. was released. Not only did E.T. make more money than any other movie in 1982, it made more money than any other movie in the entire *decade*. It did better than Star Wars for god's sake.
This is a gaming channel, they average the movie and the video game. And when averaged like that, ET comes out somewhere around Crossroads starring Britney Spears.
I've always liked Guru Larry for having way more detail in these videos than other people who cover the same topics. Now I like him even more for having some sweet ska in his intro. Keep up the great content buddy!
In 1998, Al Lewis ran for the office of Governor of New York as a third party candidate for the Green Party, and actually sued the state election board to have his name listed on the ballot as “Grandpa’ Al Lewis” the courts told him no, but credit for trying...
Hey, Larry, amazing video as usual! Fact Hunt is definitely a great series to watch on a Sunday morning with a cup of joe...or if you need to something to watch while folding your clothes. Anyway, Keep up the good work!
Actually, from what I can find, reviewers at the time criticized it for its pacing and said they felt the story took a backseat to the special effects. Not because it didn't have a happy ending--unless you can find examples of reviews at the time with that criticism?
Acording to Wikipedia, Al Lewis wasn't in Gremlins 2. The character you're thinking of, Grampa Fred was actually played by Robert Prosky who was doing an impresssion of Al Lewis's Grampa munster.
Ok I really hate to ask this question but that is the song you played during the title and end credits. I know I have heard it before and its literally driving me insane that I can't remember it. XD
I always see Chegger's Party Quiz in "CEX" and sometime "GAME" and I always look at it and think "WHY IS THIS A THING!?" but its worth around 50p - £1 in "CEX" and "GAME". But an awesome video Larry :D
Al Lewis wasn’t on Gremlins 2: The New Batch. That was Robert Prosky. Who played Grandpa Fred; a horror movie host; who wanted to be a reporter; or, to be at least allowed to show the classics.
In the original TV show, Al Lewis didn't play a Munster. His character was the father of Lily Munster (née Dracula) and father-in-law of Herman Munster, Count Sam Dracula - usually referred to simply as "Grandpa" (and never as "Grandpa Munster").
Each linear cheapskate low-budget game license for this list. #5 Blade Runner - Amstrad CPC/Commodore 64/ZX Spectrum (1:05) #4 Midnight Mutants - Atari 7800 (2:51) #3 O' Leary Manager 2000 - Game Boy Color (5:15) #2 Dracula: The Undead - Atari Lynx (7:15) #1 Chegger's Party Quiz - Nintendo Wii (9:11)
"Featuring Grampa" He also made a series of direct-to-video VHS releases of horror films in which he reprised his role of Grampa and 'hosted' the films. Check out Ben's Oddity Archive Episode 26 - VHS Vault Volume 1
Another one is the "Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" game for GBA. Despite being made around the time the movie came out, it was billed and made to look like it was based on the book.
