Wow this video is a beautiful as a Monet painting! The colors of your beautiful 😍 dress along with the Chickory 💙and clear blue sky is truly amazing! My late mother would use Chicory root for coffee substitute during the Great Depression. Thank you for sharing your ancient wisdom! Love and blessings. 💚
Chicory is so beautiful and she's everywhere right now. It kills me that I see her all up and down the side of the road but only in a few places out in the woods. 😂
Chicory settled into my yard this summer, for the first time. Thanks for this video, cause I'm in the middle of a serious stress induced anxiety spell that's probably not going anywhere soon! 😱😳😆
Oh my goodness. I have to say you look so beautiful! Your hair, your dress your tatoos and not least, your personality. Thank you also for a terrific lesson. I know just where to look for some cuttings. There is one chicory plant up the road from me, I see it every summer. Greetings from a 72 year old wanna be herbalist in Canada.
OMG, thank you so much for this. There’s chicory everywhere here and I I can recognize it. I know it. I wasn’t quite sure what to do with it and now I know thanks April for your insight on your passion for keeping us all healthy and out of the big system.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Thank you for this video. I've have been wondering what to do with my Chicory. I am new at foraging, growing my own medicine. I am Looking forward to learning so much more about many different plants. I have struggled with anxiety for many years. I've tried many different medications from the Dr over the years with little to no relief. Only to become reliant on them. I have now been off them for many years. Since 2014 however, I still struggle with anxiety. 😮I have found more relief and self-healing in working with plants. ❤😊I appreciate you and your content. You seem so nice and down to earth. Excited to learn more from you. Thanks again for your videos and content.
You are amazing! 😊❤xxxxx. Thank you April for sharing your knowledge that benefit, so many! ❤ 🌌🎓♾🤗❤. Love from Scotland 🏴. Even though our seasons and climates are different our plants are so similar/ so special wherever we are! ❤xxxxx 😊 🤗🌿🌲🌳🏡
We do have many similar plants! A big part of that is where I'm at there was a large Scottish settlement and the women of course brought seeds with them on the journey, they're all classified as "invasives" here now but I see them as the food and medicine that they are 💚
Your knowledge and your valuable experiences in life has and is still helping others. I so appreciate you. Thank you. Sincerely Shout out from Mt. Shasta CA
Thanks for sharing! We just moved from OK to NY. My daughter was just asking me yesterday what these beautiful flowers on the roadside were and I couldn’t figure it out. Then your video popped up, and aha, it’s chicory!! I’m so excited to know a little more about her now.
Thank You SO Much! Earlier this summer all I could find was to process this in the fall. I'm happy to know there is another anxiety helper that I think I'm still in time to harvest!!! Please will you also make us a video for harvesting and processing the root for tincture when it's ready? ♡
I never knew that was chicory!! I think someone told me years ago when I was a kid it was a milk weed type of weed!!! lol i love weeds and always admire them and my grandpa used to make fun of me bc u was always picking weeds and bringing them home he said the farmers are working hard to get rid of them ❤😂😂😂 thank you for the wonderful information!
Love you, April! Thanks for all you share in your videos. I need to get some chicory seeds! I see it growing all over alongside the roads, but nowhere clean and safe to harvest. ❤❤
Unfortunately, Chicory gives me really bad stomach pain. I enjoyed the video and learning more about Chicory. The outdoors where you are look beautiful ❤
Since I started watching your videos, a month ago, I never realized how many beneficial plants / weeds I have all around me. Love your videos and thank you for the amazing information you provide
I love your videos and I love you! ❤ Thank you again for sharing this invaluable information 🙏💗 I struggle with severe anxiety so this is good to know!
Hopefully, I'll find it as I go looking for it. I definitely need it. You are an awesome lady. Wished we were neighbors. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Sending you a big hug.
I just learnt a bit on latex. The trend right now is wild lettuce. So in one of the rabbit hole I went down, one study some lovely human did lookup information on wild lettuce, he learnt that the plant when injured, shoots up the Latex to protect the plant. So cutting the harvest all at once might not allow the plant to shoot the latex up for harvest. It's so hot for me rn...eating miso soup inspired by your seaweed infusion xxx
I love your videos. I don’t seem to find chicory in places away from the highways. I’m hoping to claim sone seeds from her. I hope I can grow her in my garden.
I was just asked by a male friend about chicory. I knew little about it. What plant it is and that you can use the root like coffee. Then looked it up to read more. However your explanation about her is way more in depth. I did not know the white juice was called latex. I have seen this As a kid and playing around with plants. I wish I had a mentor when I was a kid to learn this stuff as I was picking flowers and plants and such, but now I’m So happy you are on air with us all to learn more. Thank you for inspiring us by saying that we are absolutely smart enough to do this. ❤
I use the root for a coffee substitute and I was wondering what to do with the flowers and stems, so I looked for info on this from you and of course i found this! You are my go to girl!! Thank you April!!!! Stay cool!!
This time of the year, there is beautiful blue chicory, Queen Anne's Lace and some tall yellow flower lining the roadways on my way to work. So pretty. Till they mow it all down 😢
How many drops would you suggest for anxiety? And would this cause interactions with other medications, or is it generally safe regardless? Thank you! 😊
April can you recommend any herb for restless leg syndrome? I have have tried everything from more iron intake! magnesium, and valerian, which actually made it worse!. Is there anything that you could recommend 🙏
Thank you April, I didn’t know that about the above ground parts! Will harvest some tomorrow! Also, I’m glad I didn’t know about the tattoos on your leg, because if I did, I had made the sculpture differently, with your dress up a bit, because why make it easy if I can do it complicated… 😅😂🤣
Talk about timing✨ I was commenting on it recently as a coffee substitute☺️ thanks for the video always a great time with you reminiscing about our friendship with nature🪶 if someone does have a sensitive GI be a little more cautious. For sure.
I have been looking for her out here on my property but have not been able to locate her yet. I guess she is not needed right now. I am sure she'll show up at the right time. 😊
Can you make a video about what tinctures are? Do you do this with all sorts of plants? Can you heat this up with hot water and make a tea out of it instead
I adore you April! Quick question if you have a minute....I have made so many tinctures with everclear (which I now know is too strong) but when I went to look at my surplus tincures the other day, they were all about 3/4 full. Apparently they evaporated! How to I prevent this in the future? (besides for just using the correct vodka!?) Can this happen if I use a lower proof vodka too? Also are my tinctures still ok to use (im assuming they are just REALLY concentrated.) Gah! Live and learn.🙄😵💫
I make often chicory salad with boiled eggs and sesame seeds or I cook the leafs in a pan with garlic and chilly. I knew that bitter herbs are good to detox especially the liver and kidney.
This was interesting, now I know what that pretty flower is that was growing all over a parking lot. I do have a few questions, you don't need to wash the plant or boil it? You don't need to sterilize the jars like when you make jam? Or put them in boiling water to vaccum seal them when they're filled? Is it because of the alcohol?
