I just recently bought TO glycolic to use in a spray bottle for body care. To exfoliate skin on the body, use on armpits and bikini area which helps with odour, skin discolouration of these areas and reduce ingrowing hairs. I've been repurposing other AHA exfoliating toners for this for over a year now and it's been so effective. I only do it after showering once a week. And the results have been amazing.
With a strength solution of 7% like the one mentioned, I use it daily uneventfully. (After showering, sometimes as a pre-shower if I’m on the go.) I’ve never tried it on my scalp, as I have my own solution for that. But if I can do body, face and scalp with the same product I’m all in 🥰
Hey guys and welcome back to Mad About Skin where in todays video I wanted to share with you a new skincare hack which has been going viral on TikTok and I recently put through its paces.. I would love to know what your thoughts are so let me know in the comments below. Sending you lots of love xxxxxx
Hey so I recently bought th ordinary glycolic acid toning solution and I was hoping it would get rid of my dandruff and flakynsss , is it safe to use once a week ? Also should I apply a little after washing my hair hair or before , should I leave it on ?
i just bought the glycolid acid by the ordinary yesterday, so this video comes at an amazing time! thank you so much for this honest and thorough review, as well as tips and other alternatives!
I've been using mandelic acid (10%) on my scalp occasionally & it works really well for me. Wouldn't use it more than twice a week though. In my theory, mandelic acid should be more gentle & it might even work better with an oily/sensitive scalp.
I suffer with terrible folliculitis on my scalp. Has been chronic for years and no antibiotic, cream, lotion, scalp wash, shampoo has ever helped. I have been doing this for several years once a week and it has sooo helped reduced the painful pustules that form on my scalp. Didn't know it-but I'm a trend setter.?? The Ordinary is great to do it as well-the bottle is perfect to get through my thick hair and squirt in the areas it's needed.
@@pacspacs8693 I squirt all over my scalp about 20 minutes before I shower and wash my hair. I shampoo twice, then condition and rinse well. It can cause some flaking, but this comes out in the next shampoo. Hope this helps. 😀
I’ve been using salicylic acid, which I think can be more beneficial as it is oil-soluble, when I remember so not as often as once a week! I just leave it on for a couple of minutes before showering. The ordinary glycolic acid nozzle fits onto the Superdrug BHA toner which is very cheap, so I’ve been applying it that way :)
Glycolic acid is wonderful for daily use in the correct solution strength. As long as you’re promoting and maintaining fungal and bacteria free skin, this should work perfectly to maintain cleanliness. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be used for the dead keratin (your hair) since its job is to turn over dead skin.
Oh thank you so so much Kelly.. I know you have been with the channel from about 3 or 4k subs which seems a lifetime ago so thank you for all the support you show me.. love you xx
I'm a curly girl who uses a lot of hair products. They can build up on the scalp so I think I might give this an occasional try to help. Rob, I would love if you could do a video on product order. I've watched a lot of your videos and I have a retinoid and vit. C etc but what order to use things after cleansing, and whether it's morning, evening, twice a week etc is so confusing. Thanks and keep up the good work.
I have been doing this for yrs now on my mom and I 7% five minutes and rinse out once a week in a spray bottle it took about six weeks to see real results we both have super oily scalps
@@airplanemode6757 Stop!!! don't use this anymore not everything works for everyone the only reason I use Glycolic Acid is because my doc said it was okay because i have over active oil glands my best advice to you would be to speak with your health provider please don't use this acid on your scalp again my son had dandruff until he started using (Nizoral) Psoriasis scalp treatment his doc told him to dampen his hair and apply this prior to bathing so it had time to activate on his scalp at least five minutes now he has no problems at all this maybe something you want to look into this product can be bought any were I hope this helps have a wonderful day :)
I have a very oily scalp and genetically thin hair especially on the top of my head. if i shower at night, by morning it looks like i poured oil allover my head. been this way since i was a kid. the past 10 or so years i've used dry shampoo to soak up the oil and give volume. now, my scalp is congested and the bald spots are more noticeable, as hair growth is being inhibited. i bought peppermint shampoo, plus a mint salt scrub, and there is no cooling sensation anywhere on my scalp but i can feel it along my hairline and forehead. i had no idea my scalp was this clogged up... i want to try a chemical exfoliant to decongest it. i do not have dandruff though my scalp can be a bit sensitive. i also have veeery dry facial and body skin so i would plan to use a spray bottle for my head only. do you think glycolic acid would work for me??
We all know sunscreen is essential for the face when using glycolic. I hope the people using it daily on the scalp are using a spray spf or wearing a hat.
I’ve found Glycolic way too harsh to use on face anymore & Salicylic Acid in poos have been effective for my flaky, dry scalp, so I’ll stick with that.
Read about this 2 years ago and tried it out 1 year ago for my scalp folliculitis and acne. It didnt help at all sadly, soI still prefer my flaxseed gel hairmask to sooth my scalp, however my sister now uses it religiously for her itchy scalp. It also helps get rid of some build up on the hair from CG friendly products for me so I do use it now and then :)
I use it once a month or twice sometimes it does wonders since Im a curly girl, that uses lots os products and also i sweat lots, so my scalps builds up a lot.
Thank you for your research and information on this; I was thinking about incorporating this in my beauty routine and this was a great video for me to see. Thanks again
if you have dry flaky scalp that isn’t dandruff, this can help. mix sea salt and conditioner/deep conditioner together and rub through scalp. rinse out, and shampoo and condition as normal. make mixture prior to use. it does not store well. it might help with dandruff, but i’m not sure. i’ve used the ordinary glycolic toner on my scalp a couple of times and only as needed. i use jojoba oil or castor oil as needed to keep my scalp moisturized.
THANK YOU so much for breaking everything down and sharing more reliable info, this was very helpful!! i struggle sm w/ dry scalp so i def will listen to ur tips! 🙌🏼
I found a glycolic acid gel in a tube ( looks like neosporin) or Vaseline petroleum jelly ish and it’s good to use in conjunction with the glycolic skin peel for on the face. This was a great video- I’m trying to get the build up off my scalp and hair from hair grease like bergamot. Thanks again
Very informative but not boring, thanks for sharing!☺ Also this sounds weird but I really appreciate that your intro wasn't 3 mins long like basically all other videos. I think content creators who don't do long and dreary intro's should get some kind of bonus from RU-vid😂
I’ve actually been using the ordinary glycolic acid on my scalp for a little over a year because the bottle was so big lol & the nice applicator tip & I thought if it’s beneficial to my face it should be ok for my scalp 😂 I do use it only 2x a month though I haven’t had any negative effects from it so far it’s been a little over a year my hair has grown a lot in the past year started using professional quality products like shampoo & conditioner & leave in conditioner & a hair oil & I use less products, I used to use too much product (because my hair was thick & dry & damaged I thought needed so much product 🤦🏻♀️) I don’t flat iron anymore I switched to a blow dryer I felt it was less hot and my hair is dramatically healthier & longer

I have an issue with my scalp. It gets oily around 12-20h after washing. Not going to use Ordinary, but another one which as well contains glycolic acid. Designed specially for hair. Not sure if it's going to work, but I must try at least.
Really curious to hear your thoughts on the B. Range from Superdrug. They’ve brought out a facial sunscreen and a load of serums but no info on concentrations etc 😏
Hey Rob, NOPE, not for me. I haz dry skin and a dry scalp. I' wondering if glycolic acid would affect longer hair. I've got to keep that mane of mine shiny and healthy! Happy Sunday, sending love ~ Paula
Oh I would not be surprised hun lol, most of these hacks have been around before but I wasn't aware of this before the other week.. The livestream was so much fun yesterday so thank you so much for joining.. love xx
I started using this brand but everyday not realizing the bad outcome. Thought it wouldn’t be that bad but now my left underarm is so irritated and white n kind of puffy. I can’t wear some shirts anymore. So I see now that using it every night was a huge no no.
Another thing that can help with greasy hair is brushing it then combing it through root to end with a fine-tooth comb twice a day. Apparently, I am not an expert, this is one way women kept their hair clean before shampoo as we know it was invented. I've experimented with using this method, only washing my hair once a month but rinsing it whenever I shower, and my scalp has been pretty darn clean! But, after a few weeks the rest of my hair can get pretty greasy, so I'm going back to washing my more frequently and sill combing twice a day.
This is new to me, I just started using this product - Alpha Skin Care Essential Renewal Lotion 10% Glycolic Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) two days ago, should I stop ….thank you
oh my, people are not the smartest species from time to time. To start with, daily use of shampoo is the biggest no-no and the main reason for troubles. Once a week shampooing is already pretty harsh. Conditioner (good quality, lacking all the weird surfactants and stripping ingredients) should suffice. Now there’s the easy way out. Mixing some glycolic acid with conditioner (that also brings down the harsh aggressive % of the glycolic acid solution). This way you prevent the liquidy toning solution from running down the face and risking it to get into the eyes. Also it is a very good vehicle to rinse out in time. Conditioners are in general products to leave in for 3-5 minutes before rinsing out. And whilst in the shower already there is plenty of water to wash out in case of stinging or other side effects.
