I was diagnosed Type II Diabetic six years ago. Been doing Keto for 5 months now. I've lost 50 lbs and 3 pant sizes. I just had my annual physical and doctor did a double-take when he saw me. Just got back the results of all my bloodwork. Aside from slightly elevated cholesterol, everything was normal. Doctor has taken me off all of my medications. Biggest change, my A1C from six months ago was 13.9 (~250) and the result from last week is 5.3 (~96).

My dad had all that too and completely reversed it. Type II high blood pressure, high cholesterol. Was on about a dozen medications. He went on Atkins when it first came out and that really helped him. He does keto now mostly. Hes off all medications and can eat sugar just fine. Like he eats birthday cake with us and all that seems completely back to normal. But been low carb for the better part of 20 years since he was diagnosed.

Thanks Dr.Berry. I’m a 57 year old male. Non-drinker for 18 years. Non-smoker. I was diagnosed with Severe Fatty Liver back in September. I had been eating vegetarian, but I did eat honey in my tea, orange juice, oranges, and 1 can of cola per day. I started experiencing extreme nighttime leg cramps & my stomach had bloated to 60”! I had a liver biopsy performed & it showed that I have Hemochromatosis. I immediately went Keto and are having weekly phlebotomy treatments. I’ve lost 55lbs so far, and I keep progressing. I really want to thank Dr.Berry for all his help.
@gatorgrl89

My husband also found out her has Hemochromatosis as well as Fatty Liver. He donates blood every 6 weeks and that has been keeping his iron count within limits but he still occasionally drinks. I need for him to see this video. I hate that this is a silent killer. I only with it caused him serious pain, so he would do something about it.
@3cardmonty602
@3cardmonty602 5 лет назад
Update: I’m now down 75lbs. My Ferritin level has dropped from 4580 to 2600. My Hematologist put me on a every other week phlebotomy treatment schedule now. And hopefully I’ll be able to get a job because my Short Term Disability ran out. Feel much better. Hemoglobin is staying steady at 13.6, so I believe I’m on my way to freedom.

Thanks for the truth. I've been battling Type 2 for 15 years and no diet or doctor has helped me. After only 2 weeks following you my sugars have flattened out between 90 and 120 all day long. My arthritis has subsided dramatically. I have more energy and even my breathing has improved. I have copd and i'm obese. The weight is coming off also. I haven't weighed myself recently but my eyes don't bulge when I tie my shoes. I am so angry at the doctors who first diagnosed me didn't just tell me to stop eating carbs. I would have because I have always eaten what I was told was good for me. I am a good cook and my parents were both southern farm stock so I know what good food is. Please keep up the good work and I promise you I'm going to beat this in spite of my doctor and the A.D.A. .Thank you, Bill Shearer

I was thinking about fruit - like you said it annoys people because its natural. But if you look at fruit , they only grow within specific seasons. And those seasons are generally warmer. Traditionally humans spend more time outside playing running, climbing, working and fruit may be a great way to refresh your body after a long day out exercising in the sun. We now have fruit available in all seasons, we eat it without any activity prior.. just my theory

Was diagnosed with fatty liver about 8 years ago. The doctor told me to eat less fat... didn’t work. I just started keto and I.F. On January 5th. Quit alcohol the 11th. I have already lost 25 pounds and 4 inches around my stomach! I’m quite tall (6’ 6”) and expect to keep losing fat until I’m very lean (230 lbs?). At this point I will go back and have my liver checked out for progress. Also, I just feel sooo much better after this short period of time, it’s ridiculous! In too many ways to mention! I have been doing Keto and IF for 15 months. Before starting, I knew I had gallstones and I assume fatty liver because I was diagnosed as prediabetic. Well, 33 lbs later and 15 months later (I have in no way been perfect but I strive for healthy Keto almost all the time). I am off asthma meds. I have much more mental clarity. I feel better. I am going through menopause and I made several attempts at stopping HRT. Well I am off of it for good now. It’s been 5 months since my last hormone patch. I have hot flashes but I notice their duration and intensity and frequency all waning somewhat. My doctor told me the Keto diet was unsustainable and sent me to a nutritionist. She also commented that I was eating way too much meat. She never inquired about what I really ate. The nutritionist did inquire, made a few tweaks and said if it makes you feel comfortable and it works for you, go for it. Well, I like this way of eating just fine. Do I fall off the wagon periodically....yes, I do. But I get right back on and that’s what has made all the difference in the world. This diet is forgiving. Thank you for your advice. Ps. Pre Keto, I have. EVER had a soft drink and still haven’t. I hated ALL fruit and fruit juice (and still do). Never been much of a alcoholic drinker. For me, it was bread, pasta, rice and peanut M&M’s. Now I eat salad, some protein and a few Keto treats like Dr. Berg’s chocolate chip cookies. My cravings are mostly gone and at the very least totally controllable. Thank you for spreading the word.

@@LiloEmyoung Thanks for your reply and suggestions. According to my doctors my thyroid is fine (based on blood tests). I'll definitely look into potassium deficiency but I eat a load of keto-friendly vegetables every day and I use Himalayan pink salt fairly liberally. Would those measures prevent any potassium deficit?

@@nicmonberg5974 Thanks for your reply. I'm already following a keto lifestyle, taking ~10,000 IUs of D3 and B12. I do take C8 MCT oil, but perhaps I need more of it to fuel my mitochondria...? How much do you consume per day? I admit that I do have sleep issues but it's really tough to try and figure out the cause of them. All of the usual sleep advice (e.g. no caffeine after a certain hour, don't drink alcohol, exercise regularly, avoid artificial blue lights, etc. ) doesn't apply to me because I removed those potential sources of problems years ago.

You might want to check out his video on Iodine. I’ve been taking 3 to 4 drops a day and I sure have energy and not sleeping in the middle of the day. Plus the Keto way of eating is helping also.

Hey Dr. Berry, I have been diagnosed with fatty liver, and in your video you mention avoiding sugars in all of its forms... Does that include Stevia, monk fruit, swerve and substitutes of this nature??? Thank you for all you do sir to make me and the public aware!!!

Avoid things with maltodextrin or dextrose. These are going to decrease ketones. I also eat two tablespoons of cold pressed organic cocjnut oil mixed with California cold pressed olive oil before each meal. I've lost 30 pounds or so and haven't gotten liver checked yet. But also milk thistle is good supplement. I also don't eat fruit besides blueberries, but only frozen. They don't spike your blood sugar much imo. I stopped est most dairy except grass fed. Sorry for rant. Half asleep. I eat monkfruit and stevia. But avoid things like stevia in the raw if has dextrose or maltodextrin. They are corn

Hello Doctor Berry. I have a very important question. When a person, in this case me, is on ketogenic diet and ketosis, what about my policystic kidney disease? Should I worry? Please answer, I'll be very very grateful. Thank you.

Hi Dr Berry. Thanks for your videos! I love the way you tell it like it is. I have been carnivore for 4.5 months with a break over Christmas (will power issue) but now back on the wagon. My question is how long does it take to reverse fatty liver. I’m still overweight so does that mean I still have a fatty liver. The reason for carnivore is for pain and health.

If you eat cakes, sweets, bread, soda, chocolate etc. Then you're not going to reverse non alcoholic fatty liver. Did you eat these things at Christmas?

Gotta tell ya... I’ve been in good dietary Ketosis for 5 weeks now, and have pretty much lost my taste for alcohol. I *might* have half a Michelob Ultra on occasion. (Former bartender, 2 drinks a day for 25 years.) Already quit sodas, grains, fruit juice and sugar! Never felt better. Thanks for your vids!!!!!

I gave up sodas 23+ years ago. As an accountant, numbers talk. I knew I was drinking an additional 54 pounds onto my body at the same time I was trying to deal with a new diagnosis of diabetes. I weaned myself off the wasted calories and in the first year following, lost an equivalent amount to what I had been consuming…54 lbs.

I've been keto for 4 months and keto carnivore (90%) for 2 months. I had mild fatty liver before starting keto. Should my fatty liver be reversed by now? How long does it take? I'm not ever going back to the SAD diet, but I'd still like to know, and I'm not going back to my expensive, ignorant doctor for more tests.

Hi Dr Berry, thanks for this video and all of the information that you share. I've recently come out of hospital after suffering my third attack of idiopathic Acute Pancreatitis. I don't drink alcohol and am wondering if it could be dietary related. I had an ultrasound scan to check for gall stones but they didn't find any. The doctors haven't told me to change my diet but it's frustrating not knowing what's causing it. Do you have any ideas as to what foods could be causing this problem ? Thanks for your help. Darren from the UK.

I like beer, but I restrict to 1-2 before dinner. Since I’ve cut out most other carbs (no sugar, flour, pasta, at all and a small portion of potatoes maybe 1-2 a week) I feel great and have lost 50 lbs in the past year. Getting close to my goal weight. My A1C, and lipids are improved dramatically, no skin tags, clearer skin, and I don’t ache in the morning. I’m exercising more, swimming, lifting again (I can run again, and stairs are way easier to climb) and I have not met a plateau I can’t get past with time. I’m considering no beer for awhile, but that’s the last bullet in my belt. I gave up cream in my coffee and got a dramatic boost from that. Thanks, Ken. BTW, I only drink craft beer, not case after case of the budmilloors. I really feel like the craft beer is a better product for not having all the yeast removed, as it’s nearly solid B vitamins. Hop oils are an amazing substance as well. Finally, when vegetables are fermented, some nutritional value (eg.MK7) is added. Could it be possible that fermented grains are healthier than non-fermented grains?

@geargrinder5182 5 лет назад
I too lost 62 lbs the first 4 months I did Keto and if you're like me, I didn't notice my stomach start to reduce until I was about 2 months into it. I think I read that the body will try to reduce internal fat (on the liver, kidneys etc) first and then address external fat (belly, legs, face and neck). So although our organs may not be completely fat free, they still have much, much less of it.

Hi Dr Berry, I’ve been listening to your RU-vid clips and I have a couple questions. what do you think about that diet plan “take shape for life “ or it’s also called “Optavia”. Also, Ive read about Keto that even with Keto you have to count your calories because if you are not burning more calories than you take in then you’re not gonna lose weight and I am temporarily permanent disability and mostly stationary as I’m waiting for a surgery date for a hip replacement and I’m stuck. I have to loose weight. Thank you kindly for any advice 🙂
