This is amazing. From (I believe) 1968 Young-Hold Limited "Soulful Strut" to Barbara Aklin -- Am I the Same Girl and who knows how many other covers and carrying this forward into 1992. Just still sounding wonderful in 2022!!

You're close - Barbara cut it first but her version was held back by Brunswick Records, who issued the instrumental first.

@@kevingoins9858 Ah! I see!! It was not unusual 'back then' to have instrumentals issued and become 'hits.' I guess the horns and there was one 'lick' that Red Holt (drummer, I believe) [I will call it - an 'almost' fill at about 1:29 that I still get excited about, must have 'tickled' the A/R people's ears. Had been soooo long since hearing Barbara's version.. Thanks!!!

I've only known Dusty Springfield's fabulous version of this tune, but this too is wonderful. The close-up video and great sound (considering the live situation) add to the appeal. Very nice.
