So some background on LATATA: CUBE wanted them to debut with a completely different song and the members knew they were in trouble. Soyeon wanted them to debut with a different song that she created, LATATA. CUBE disagreed but the members all supported Soyeon so that's what they went with. LATATA had a budget of $10K. By comparison Super Lady cost $860K. CUBE had no faith in them and didn't want to incur a loss. The MV was filmed in a warehouse CUBE owned that was not in use. Everything you see is just what was in the warehouse. LATATA was so successful that GIDLE achieved a brand reputation score that was just off of BLACKPINK's all-time record score. Soojin wears a fox mask in the intro. She wore this as a character called Fox Lady in both of Soyeon's pre-GIDLE MVs, Jelly and Idle Song. The line-up of GIDLE has an insane origin story. Soyeon basically kept pitching having certain people with her as a group leading up to it. Soyeon was a contestant on a show called Unpretty Rapstar in 2016, she brought Minnie on the show to duet with her for CUBE to see they worked well together. Fox Lady Soojin is another example. She basically collected members like infinity stones. (G)i-DLE was almost called TIRAMISU, but Soyeon opted for IDLE. After her comeback single. Soyeon designed the logo which is an i combined with a rotated '들'. The group is officially called (여자) 아이들 meaning (Girl)children in Korea. But the Korean name was entirely coincidental. Basically, this entire group came from her mind. It's the most organic K-pop success story ever.

At the beginning of the video you see Soojin hand Soyeon a white "cat" mask and Soyeon tosses it away. This is the mask that Soojin wore in Soyeons "Jelly" music video. Soyeon released her solo songs "Jelly" and "Idle song" while waiting for (G)I-dle debut. In "Idle song" we see a globe with marker pins on it. The pins are placed on Korea, Thailand, China, and Taiwan. This is where all of the (G)I-dle members are from... but it was still a secret who the members of (G)I-dle would eventually be at that time. Also, Minnie appeared and accompanied Soyeon during her solo song "Smile" on "Unpretty Rap Star" where Soyeon won 3rd place well before (G)I-dle debuted. It would be fun if you reacted to "Jelly" and "Idle song" because nobody reacts to those. "Jelly" is pretty self explanatory. "Idle song" is fun because "Idle" means stationary (not moving). In the video we see Soyeon sitting around and waiting for things. Also, the chords don't progress during the song... they just stay the same. The chords are also idle. I think the song signifies that Soyeon is stuck waiting for (G)I-dle to debut so that things can get moving. Also, Soojin is in the music video wearing the "cat" mask.
Soojin had the one album "Agassy" Nov.8, 2023 with the video teaser "Black Forrest" dance sequence and the music video "Agassy". Her 2nd album "Rizz" will release soon on May 24th.
So, about the boot in Latata. As the video progresses, you see Miyeon luring Yuqi with a lollipop, and while doing so, she steals her boot. (turns out she lured all of the members with lollipops). A touch later in the video, you see Miyeon opening a sidewalk shoppe and she has many items on display for sale, including items she took from the members, and she's trying to sell the items back to them, and haggling with them about the prices. The other members figure it out and argue with her for a few seconds, than proceed to throw all the items around. And they're having so much fun that Miyeon joins in on the fun too.

I could watch you react to their songs every day, every one of them is a hit in their own way. I feel like Soojin would fit right in even today even if I never knew of Idle as their OT6, I only started following them a few years back and they were already 5. And yes Soojin has a couple of MVs out since her return as a soloist, and her new EP is set to release soon too.

Hey againnn !! Some more recommendations I would say the Killing Voice they released a few months ago, around Queencard era. Though not ot6 ( unfortunately :c ) it does show a selection of quite a lot of their music and shows them being silly with eachother too (specifically shuhua and yuqi LMAO). This video has no subtitles so don't be alarmed if you can't find them, but it's just a fun little video and shows you a range of different music they have !! Great video again, love to see the updates :)
This is always such a nice surprise to improve my day I'm really looking forward to you watching a guide and/or behind the scenes stuff, it really adds to their art and makes you understand why losing Soojin was and still is such a huge blow. Regarding Soojin's stuff, she does have an MV for Agassy but her B-sides are better than her title track IMO, so I'd recommend the Sunset live clip. It's so very Soojin Then again, she's about to drop her second EP in May 23rd so there's also that Sick Tool shirt, by the way
Hey Mal, glad you're back with a new reaction to idle! I want to tell you a little bit about Latata Like many idle songs, it's written by Soyeon. The company didn't have a song for the debut of a new group so their debut could be delayed indefinitely, but Soyeon took matters into her own hands and wrote a great song that won the first award just 20 days after their debut. And then she realized that the company couldn't be relied on and continued to write songs (now almost all of the members write songs and that continues to make the group special). And yes, we love Soojin very much! there is so much idle content you need to see, BUT Soojin's dancing is even more important content, even her solo debut and upcoming comeback can only be seen after her dancing! In fact, Cube had some songs for their debut. Soyeon explain it in a KBS show posted today on youtube. There was 3 or 4 songs and her Latata song. They chose Latata after a blind test with the entire company.
