I'm in a small firm and nearly finished my ICAEW (ACA) studies. I feel the ACA is heavily focussed on large and very large businesses. Most of my clients are small and medium sized enterprises. The other students on my course are all Big Four students. It's a good course but I get the impression from talking to colleagues ACCA is a bit better for working with smaller companies.
Went with ACCA because of the convenience of remotely-invigilated computer-based exams from any country, not necessarily the one which you are looking to work in in the future. I am still in my country and I expect to have 5 papers till I move (already passed 3). That saves me a whole year. It's massive. I skipped AAT and started ACCA directly, much faster since FA + MA + BT + TX + AA = AAT granted by equivalence and I expect to have these passed before I even start looking for work.
In my day there were 4 parts to the ACCA exams, 4 papers in each part. Each part had to be taken in full and all subjects passed, If you failed any you had to take all papers again, until you passed them all at one sitting. The only exception was that if you failed only 1 paper in a part and you only just failed, you could get referred in that paper and you were allowed to retake that paper but you had to pass at a higher mark, If you failed your retake you had to take all papers again.
Thanks for sharing Allan and I agree, the structure and set up now of the exams compared to what they used to be is a lot more favourable to help students! I never recommend more than 2 exams in one sitting these days! 😃 Click the link below to hear about my ACCA journey that I hope will help to inspire yours 👇 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jsIadO-6nwo.html Enjoy the new videos and feel free to share the videos ACCA students to help them as well! I wonder if there is any statistical data showing how many of these students who keep failing exams quit and leave their studies? The pass rates with ACCA is extremely low, so must be that most of people never get to the end...
Hey! James, Your videos are little bit long, make short as possible. By the way I'm trying to get in Toronto School of Management for doing ACCA. What do you say about it?
Hello Alie, thank you for letting me know and I have shorter videos coming soon. Some videos need to be longer as the detail required to make it clear for everyone. I know a few students at the Toronto School and they like it there - connect with them on LinkedIn/Instagram and ask for their thoughts 😃 Click the link below to hear all of ACCA exam tips in less than 60 seconds that will help from my experience to pass your exams and are shorter 👇 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fJrunVQaYXo.html Best of luck with your next ACCA exams and let me know how you get on! What is better to studying Acca or aca, for someone who wants to work with the big 4? Or should I study aca after finishing my Acca studying for a better auditing career?
Hi James, great vid, all good stuff! I have in mind to perhaps one day start my own accounting business and become self employed. This would be after some time however, needing to gain some industry experience first! Which would you recommend if someone, like me, would be looking to eventually start their own practice if they want to become a self employed accountant? Cheers
Hi James. Im a mother of two and I work full time and also studying. I have passed 4 papers (F1-F4 )so far but I am thinking of doubling up my papers.I feel comfortable doing one paper at a time, but I'm just scared I will get confused and mess up in the exam. Do you think I should or should I stay with one paper?
Hello Dainty, thank you for your question and well done on passing your first 4 ACCA exams. Based on what you have said describing your circumstances, I would agree with Hungry Lion to take one at a time and to put all of your focus into 1 paper to have a better chance of passing 😄 Click the link below to watch all of my ACCA exam study tip videos as well that will help you from my experience 👇 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1nfrhbqpHXY.html Best of luck with your next ACCA exam and let me know how you get on! I studied accountancy and graduated 6 years ago in the Pakistan so now I have 6 years experiences in the fild of finance, So now I decided to study ACCA course . My question is than if I got this certificate then I can immigrate in European country or in the Canada?
It's tough. Accountants are in demand, but not in such high demand that they sponsor visas. All job offers in the UK say "must have right to work, can't sponsor visas". Unless you worked for a Big 4 and grades are top 10%, your best bet is to work for a multinational company in your country and then get transferred.
I'm just about to swap acca for CIMA, I'm finding acca really really boring and very hard work. My last 3 exams have been 49,49,49.....18 months later no further down the line!
I'm so sorry to hear this proudtobeblue, as a blue myself (Leicester City fan), we always say... Foxes never quit. @@proudtobeblue Hah, yeah, for me PM covers what I’m least interested in, despite scoring 92 in Applied Knowledge’s MA. I liked the FM parts (discounting etc) but disliked the PM parts (variances etc) even if I still understood most of it. Did you do AA at all? Supposed to be the toughest but reckon it might be my favourite.
@@counterleo if you ask me, AA depends more on your exam techniques than your knowledge. Most of the students that fail have sufficient knowledge but lack answer formulating techniques which leads to their failure in this exam. My tutor was very good at that so passing it was a piece of cake for me.
Hello James I am often told that ACCA degree or qualification is not enough on its own and that you need an additional degree with it such as doing ICAEW afterwards . Have you also done other degrees or qualifications after acca because of that? Is doing just acca enough?
Hello Mon Bon, most accountants that I know have only done ACCA and then the odd other course/qualification to keep up to date, some go on to do ICAEW and vice versa. I personally completed a masters after my ACCA, but this was paid for by my employer so couldn't say no! 😃 Click the link below to hear insights from ACCA members around the world that will help you 👇 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cBhKI9qD4jA.html Best of luck with your next ACCA exams and let me know how you get on! @@JamesWrightACCA Hi James. Out of interest what other course/qualifications are you referring to? The thought of having to do more exams after completing AAT and then ACCA doesn't sound ideal haha. I thought ACCA would generally be more than enough.
Hello Finest Insight, ACCA is tough and I wasn't the best at maths. It takes time, practice and hard-work to complete - if you know why you want to complete ACCA, this will help with the day to day studies and hard-work. I read somewhere, that it may be tempting to go for the ACA qualification due to the percentage of students passing. The numbers may be skewed because the ACA is generally favored by the big 4 and the graduate students being put through have an awful lot of pressure to pass the exams as they may be sacked if they fail more than once on the same exam. So they have high motivation to study and pass these exams.
Hello Ebrahim and thanks for you question. The Big4 will employ both ACCA and ACA qualified members and studying students. The pass rate is higher because most students leave ICAEW at certificate and professional levels because of the attempts limit. ICAEW training and exams structure is much more rigid than ACCA. And no I'm not against ACCA at all because I am an affiliate myself, now pursuing ICAEW.
@@norezqamar889 why would they leave when the damn pass rates are above 70%, also icaew is not even recognised in all of british isles , icaew is not recognised in ireland
