I am pretty frustrated with them using poly hair on these new budget dolls. The budget dolls usually have shorter hair in boring styles, but I can usually at least count on Saran 😢. Barbie’s GBF channel used a method for giving textured hair he found on TikTok that he said worked great on his poly haired dolls and I definitely plan to try it out on some of my poly haired dolls. I love the Shani sculpt and I’m happy to see them using it again. I love the dress. And I love the screening design (just not the pixel effect). It’s so frustrating when they hit so close to the mark and miss on things that should be so easy 😞
As a 64 year old non cis female I am excited by your find. I definitely want more Shani’s in my collection. I adore your vintage Shani, what a cutie. I can’t wait for those Odile mermaids. I thought they were coming next year.
The vintage shani I have used to be the only one I had before this year before the freckled Fashionista came out and this budget cutie. Really happy they started using her for Playline again ☺️💖
That Made to Move with the June face sculpt is a pretty doll. Just take her hair out of the side pony and give her a quick boil wash. Her subtle makup is very versatile.
Good overview - thank you! I might by the doll just for the dress…especially if she’s a $7-$9 doll. I don’t mid the overlock stitch, I guess - but would be fun to restyle with the dress as a foundational piece? I don’t know…I’d like to see how you’d do it because I love your restyles. 🤩
Oh yes, the worst of Barbie 😭🤣 I recently got the Beach themed Advent calendar and it's the same with that doll too 😿 she's got some cute pieces though.
The faces seem to be getting smaller as well not only the moulds have you noticed? The eyebrows are closer and the eyes smaller... I wonder if the screening is intentionally like that or it is to compensate for the mould shrinkage...
Usually the heads have gotten bigger over time, maybe they shrunk it to offset the shrunken body measurements too, as they're less va va voom she'd look pretty wobbleheady with a bigger head 😄
She is a very pretty doll, shame about the hair and screening. I have to say that I was really impressed with the packaging - surely this should be way that the Fashionistas are packaged from now on??? In fact, like you say, it should be the way forward for all dolls.
I can live with poly hair but I will not buy a doll with a pixellated face. It annoys me SOOOO much. I find it inexcusable as an adult collector. However, for little kids, not a problem. I doubt they would notice or care. If I had a little one playing with Barbies, I would not hesitate to buy one for them.
Imo that is exactly what mattel has figured out, also the parents don't care about those things they just want something pretty and cheap to give the child to play with for 5 minutes. More profits for mattel shareholders even if Barbie is becoming a disposable item like plastic knives and forks.
Oh, my next Video will be about the Glitz dolls, the most recent wave I have all have Saran hair and pixel free screenings. But there are variants, I saw that pixelated Millies are out there too. But the previous waves were poly yes.
Only vaguely related but I get a kick out of your subtle shade toward Monster High. That last video you really ripped into them. Here's my gripe with them. No fashion packs. New dolls are literally the same dolls with different outfits. Its ridiculous. Back to Barbie, I love these budget dresses because they look like Stephen Sprouse dresses from the eighties. I wanted this one too after you showed her a few weeks ago but that hair is scary. Too bad but good to know. I agree that the mermaid faces and hair look great but I shudder at the idea of bringing a mermaid into my home. Always glad to see a new video!
