《框外的油彩》Paints Outside the Picture Frame|马大华乐团 UMCO

陈澄波曾在〈台湾艺术杂志〉中写道:「我是油彩,我不知自己身在何处,也不知是何时被人搬进工厂里的,但是经过许多女工的清洗与处理,我便渐渐地像起一块原料了......。」作曲家初看此段文字时,只是感到其中充满了陈氏对于自我生命本质与意义的追寻,最终能在绘画艺术中寻得依归的喜悦与热情;但逐步的瞭解其生平后,作曲家发觉,这段文字隐藏著另一个「生命」与「艺术」的辩证议题。陈澄波用他的一生告诉我们,「艺术」应当是生命价值与哲思的投射,且必将外显于艺术家的一生所为。
本曲以「框外的油彩」为名,是希望将观察理解的范围,由陈氏所遗留下的具体「框」内画作,拓展至画框之外,拓展至那些他用一生来燃烧、以生命来追寻的价值与意义。
Chen Cheng-bo once wrote in the "Taiwan Art Magazine": "I am an oil paint, I do not know where I am, nor do I know when I was moved into the factory by someone, but after being cleaned and processed by many female workers, I gradually became like a raw material...". When the composer first read this passage, he only felt that it was filled with Chen's pursuit of the essence and meaning of his own life, and the joy and enthusiasm of finally finding refuge in painting art. However, as he gradually understood his life story, the composer discovered that this passage concealed another dialectical issue of "life" and "art". Chen Cheng-bo used his lifetime to tell us that "art" should be the projection of the value and philosophy of life and must be manifested in what the artist does in his life.
This piece, titled "Oil Paint Beyond the Frame," hopes to expand the scope of observation and understanding from the specific paintings left by Chen within the "frame" to beyond the frame, to those values and meanings he burned with his lifetime and pursued with his life.
