從古至今，在風景秀麗、山巒起伏的臺灣島上，居住著眾多原住民部落。他們的風土民情與臺灣的歷史文化一脈相連。作品選用臺灣原住民的音調，將曲名中的《秀島山境》各取一字，由秀林吶喊、島民舞蹈、山中祭祀、境象臺灣四個連續的段落組成，且四個部分在作曲材料中互有關聯。其中，島民舞蹈一段採用泰雅族的傳統歌謠，山中祭祀一段採用賽夏族矮靈祭儀式中的音調並加以變化。作品試圖運用國樂合奏曲形式，呈現臺灣的風土民情，以及原住民的生活風貌。
作曲家簡介｜
作曲家謝艾彤1990 年6月出生，2009 年考入中央音樂學院作曲系本科，先後師從於陳泳鋼教授和賈國平教授。2014年考入中央音樂學院作曲系碩士研究生，師從於賈國平教授，2019 年考入中央音樂學院作曲系博士研究生，師從於賈國平教授至今，現為作曲系博士二年級學生。主要作品有：管弦樂作品《祈祥》《靈谷迴盪》；編鐘與民族管弦樂作品《氣吞雲夢》、西洋室內樂作品《深谷淒風孤雁鳴》、民樂室內樂作品《講古》、琴箏二重奏《談笑間》等。

Throughout history, Taiwan has been documented as a beautiful island covered by endless spectacular mountains where the indigenous tribes inhabit, and their vernacular custom is naturally inseparable from Taiwanese cultural history. The piece consists of four successive sections, including "howling in the woods", "islanders' dancing", "rituals in the mountains", and "the charming island". The composing materials adopt Taiwanese indigenous musical tunes, which are also correlated among the four sections. The "islanders' dancing" draws upon the traditional songs of the Atayal tribe; the section "rituals in the mountains" variates the melodies used in the Pasta'ai ritual of the Say-Siyat tribe. The piece seeks to deliver Taiwanese vernacular and indigenous charms through the Chinese orchestra.
